We were the first in when store opens on Saturday with appointment. Dog wasn't ready until five hours later. Prices up from last visit 100 now 170 with taxSign cash only not properly displayed and cashier never mentioned it this when we dropped dog off. We were faithful users for ten years when store was Popcawn Paws.Probably will go elsewhere next time.

When I first walked in to the establishment I was greeted warmly and provided a fair and clear price for a thorough wash and trim, even though it was a tad inconvenient that they only accepted cash. However, I do understand their reasoning behind it. Unfortunately, I have to give this business a low rating because the day after the appointment, I noticed a significant change in my dog's behavior. He started incessantly licking himself and his usual lively demeanor had diminished greatly. Upon closer inspection, I discovered that his private parts were mistakenly nicked during the grooming process and had become infected. Consequently, he now has a noticeable rash and is visibly uncomfortable and miserable. If only I had been informed about this mishap, I could have taken immediate action. I am deeply disheartened by the lack of transparency shown by this grooming establishment. My heart aches for my dog because I can't even fathom how uncomfortable he must be, and I feel utterly powerless in this predicament. This unfortunate situation could have been avoided if they had simply informed me.

First time using Pawz. I didn’t have a problem scheduling. I got there before time, and was taking care of right away. They told me that they will call to let me know when Smokie will be ready. My dog is a yorkie poo. This the first time a number 7 cut. It looked good. But the nail cutting didn’t happen, Miguel cut into the vain area and it started bleeding. This is the first time that ever happened and I wasn’t pleased with it, especially when they said that my dog have to many veins around the nails. Somebody just didn’t know what they were doing. These people justified everything that I had a complaint about. When my Smokie got home he started scooting around on his butt, I picked him up and noticed that a hard piece of p*** was stuck on the side. I had to finish their job of cleaning what paid for $198.16.Someone called from pawz and asked me did anyone tell that Smokie was ready for pickup. Pitiful. I already had my dog. Poor communication. Smokie has a vet appointment on the 8th of September. My dog is miserable constantly scratching. I’m sure the tools are not clean. P*** on the butt and bleeding paw. And not only that they charge me for plague removal and my dog’s teeth look the same. I can’t trust these people. I learned my lesson.

I've never left a review but feel that as someone who works in the pet field, feedback would be helpful not only to the establishment but to anyone considering visiting.I loved when the store was located on 3601A Fieldston (which hasn't been updated to it's current location on it's website so make sure you're following the directions on Google, not their direct site).Since they've relocated to 1 Riverdale Avenue, their quality of service has taken a major hit. When I last visited (late May) to get my 80lb (very friendly and trained) dog's nails clipped, the Groomer and Groomer's assistant both gave me a look as if they were waiting for me to go in the back and lift him onto the table which I found weird seeing as how typically clients are not required to go into the inner parts of facilities and when I did go back there, they clearly had a Groomer's table which had pedals for going up and down. Not sure if they were functional but the 2 gentleman were definitely able to lift my dog without me needing to be there.Once done, I was told that they shifted to a Cash-Only business of which I was not made aware until after my dog was done with the nail clipping making it so that I had to send my partner to find an ATM somewhere nearby to pay. Then upon exiting, the receptionist (whose intentions were clearly good) gave my dog a beef dog patty treat without asking. I didn't get upset about it but as someone who has seen very serious allergic reactions in pets, I feel that another employee in this field should've known to ask first especially since beef, chicken and fish are the highest allergens in the dog world.Overall, there is something clearly causing the company to change and I hope it operationally goes back to how it was at it's previous location. There is so much potential where it currently is and just needs some nurturing, re-branding and proper promoting.

I took my 10 lb mini poodle rescue here for the first time in early January. I will not go back. I needed one of the upfront staff to translate what I wanted to Miguel. Miguel took her and walked toward the grooming rooms. My baby was already was crying and struggling at leaving me. Miguel stopped in the middle to talk to a staff member and she intensified her crying and struggling. I shouted at Miguel to leave but he didn't listen. I asked one of the others to tell him to leave as both my dog and I were so upset. When I returned to pick her up I she appeared traumatized. She did not look me in the eye nor did she appear happy to see me. That is not how she behaves towards me. Quite to the contrary. I knew something was wrong. I had planned to pay the posted rate for a 10 lb dog but was told that that rate was for yorkies and tiny dogs. I argued with them. The price list has no such delineation. It just says 10 lbs. I was told I could pay the posted price this time but in the future, I would have to pay the higher price. It took over two days for my baby to calm down. I wrote to them requesting a manager contact me but I have heard nothing. Now that I see the negative reviews of others, I am not going back, EVER! I am not ever again paying popcorn pawz to have my dog traumatized.

this is the best grooming experience i’ve had with my puppy. i don’t really understand the negative comments towards this business. my experience was really great, the employees were great, they were super sweet to my pup and I. They broke everything down for me to understand about the grooming package. The groomer Miguel understood how i wanted my puppy’s hair cut. Everything overall was just great. Please just stop giving people a hard time and try to understand from they perspective and they policy.

I don’t understand how this business wants to make money when they won’t even answer the phone. I’ve called various times to try to schedule grooming with Miguel and who ever is in charge does not call back. This store has lost a loyal customer. Really upset about this situation and it should not take over 2 weeks for someone to get back to a customer.

The owners are just down right terrible people. Always have an attitude. Not to mention the workers who lie constantly and manipulate their customers. I came in once for a nail trim and the upwelling is terrible. I also overheard one of the workers talking badly about their co worker, it's all drama here. They used to have 3 locations and now only one. I wonder why

Great place. Only local pet store in Riverdale. Stop hating on a local hard working business ! Try owning your own business!!!! Especially during COVID.

Not sure why so many people seem to hate on this business. It's the ONLY one locally in Riverdale. Seems not many people understand how challenging it is to own and run a business especially during covid and the last 3 years. If you don't like them - don't post crap reviews. Take it up the business owner directly. I have only had positive experiences w them. Also, when their machines were down, I simply ASKED like a reasonable human being, when their machines would be up and running again bc I don't carry cash. Too many people in Riverdale w spoiled mentalities. Please stop.

My first visit was scheduled with Miguel because supposedly he's the only person that gives haircuts to cats. Also he supposedly only takes appointments for cats on Saturdays. I made an early morning appointment and once I arrived he complained that I should schedule the appointment earlier next time. Which obviously was not my call to begin with, I don't schedule the time. I asked him for my cat to get everything done, nails cut, bath, and haircut. She was returned to me with some areas looking choppy, but I let it go.My next appointment I scheduled in person, and they gave me the earliest time. I come in for the appointment and I arrive at the same time as Miguel. When the receptionist told him I was up first he approached me and began to explain how he can't attend my cat because the blow dryer scares cats, etc. I told him I went out of my way to arrive early to this appointment but he still refused to take her.Every time I have come in with my cat, Miguel has a bad excuse or complaint. Personally, looking at his mannerism and body language around my cat, he seems to dislike them. He behaves completely different around dogs. However, the receptionists are very kind and patient. As a cat owner I recommend going somewhere else for grooming. Because Michael will be the only person handling your cat and you will be wasting your time.
