I will start by saying that the staff is friendly (so they deservedly get 1-star) but as many reviewers on this thread have already said - THERE ARE ROTTEN MEATS MIXED IN WITH GOOD MEATS. My deepest condolences to the guy who works at the seafood station. The PUTRID smell that permeates there makes you wonder if it is a compost pile or if they actually sell food there. It is disgusting. I bought chicken (organic) there November 20 and when I got home, the expiry date showed December 5th, but the chicken was rotten and there were ice crystals in it. I really don't understand why and how they operate and NYC DoH don't shut them down already. Their grapes and some other fruits are totally frozen and when they thaw, you can taste the distorted pulp. I will definitely levy a complaint and hopefully something is done to bring this place up to standard. Currently, there is a dearth of good groceries in the area and this one needs to be improved.

So nobody is going to speak about the horrific smell that comes out of the last iles where the cold items begin? Not my first time coming and that smell is still there lingering. It smells like USED CAT LITTER!! Then I buy bone in chicken, I did notice some of their chickens colors were off I chose the pinkest 1... Well to my disappointment this chicken stunk when I opened it! Part of my dinner was ruined! I give up with this place.

Western beef is still mixing rotten meat with fresh meat. Check the center of your ground beef.

Rude cashier (J. Darina)After a long day (fighting cancer, having two sons and a wife dealing with medical issues, and my main business partner's relative was found dead this week, natural causes.) But in life, I don't let my problems impact my treatment of fellow humans. Everyone deserves honor and respect when they are an honorable person. Today the disrespect, cursing, and aggression of J. Darina at Western Beef was shocking and isn't acceptable.Situation: I went to Western Beef in the Bronx on 301 Morris Ave. (I had my video recorder on and have the evidence. It's unfortunate that, living in NYC, we have to record our interactions; however, NYC, sadly, has very aggressive people who are often unprofessional to customers, etc. It's amazing how, in life, a simple shopping trip that should have ended with a simple apology ended up becoming a serious issue that requires extensive text to explain!===At this Western Beef location, their service is typically very professional, the place is clean, and prices are great.Today, there was a disaster named J. Darina/female cashier). At approximately 9:45 pm (it's all on camera), I approached her register (She didn't seem happy (facial expressions and body language are approximately 80% of communication). I politely asked her, "Miss, please price check this for me." I don't recall a verbal response, but she definitely scanned the item and pushed it to the end of the line, where items go that are being purchased. This was inappropriate because I didn't know the price. I asked her for the price, and she eventually said it. Next, I my card was not working on the machine (the machine, I later learned, was not working properly), so she came over aggressively to put the card through the machine. But I again noticed her aggression, so I politely asked, "Miss, are you okay? Are you having a bad day?" She didn't respond verbally. (Before things got to this point, another worker / manager should have intercepted.)I was very annoyed and said, "Miss, I have cancer, my sons and wife have issues, etc., and I don't act rude to customers. What are you dealing with?"Eventually, she put her hands up, rather close to my face, in a disrespectful way. I asked her, "What the hell you your hand at me like that for? I have done nothing wrong; you're the one who's been rude." (Before things got to this point, another worker / manager should have intercepted.)Another cashier, a taller lady, not sure of her name, came over, and the two of them began communicating. The other cashier smiled at J. Darina, but the cashier proceeded to be more professional. But the rude J. Darina started to walk off and was being rude. (Before things got to this point, another worker / manager should have intercepted.)I walked behind her, telling her how damn rude she was. She cursed me out but under her breath. A tall man came over, and I later learned he was the manager (tall man). He was cordial and polite about the situation and surprised when I indicated that J. Darina had cursed me out. He and I also talked, and I told him that none of us knows who anyone else is. People from all ends of the peace, aggression, ignorance, and intellectual spectrum so treat everyone with honor, dignity, and professionalism. I told him that had she been a male, my response to the rudeness would have been much more aggressive, especially when she put her hands up aggressively and disrespectfully. -- Suggestions:a) Fire J. Darina, or you send the message to staff that her behavior and climate are acceptable, and my people won't shop at that location (or possibly Western Beef franchise. Why spend where the policies allow such aggression, rudeness, unprofessionalism.)b) Once a worker is rude to a customer, don't allow the matter to continue. Pull the worker from that station/location and put someone who is more professional in that position.c) Ensure that workers have "de-escalation" training and aren't antagonizing, arg

Wow, what a trip, not too good on this day. The front-end supervisor of cashiers failed at her job. She didn't have any kind of hope. She made her own workers give up. Wasn't even aware that she was going down. She didn't do her job, and it was the worst time of my life. Never going back.

I only went there because my husband wanted some fresh ?. Other than that i would have never. They play too many games and have a lot of gimmicks. They are way too expensive. They sell mediocre items as the rest of the store's than turn around and put prices like they are a whole foods or trader Joe's. #bxwehavetodobetter #theviewgirl

Check expiration dates on everything before purchasing. I bought yogurt today (4/28/23) and thank god I noticed that it looked watery before eating it because it expired on 4/14/23. Dairy two weeks past expiration is dangerous and I don’t have time to be sick for 48hrs, much less deal with more severe problems that could potentially arise. Management needs to get serious, because this is a serious issue and completely unacceptable.
