They should let customers in to see available animals. It turned down potential adopter and went Best Friends at lower Manhattan where you're welcome to see kitties in person.

Great people who do a very difficult job. Amazing opportunities to adopt and care for a pet. We've had nothing but positive experiences when working with them.

un empathetic , provides misinformation and blatantly misleading.I lost my dog of 8yrs. Was told by a neighbor to check out this shelter. Went to the BK location told the condescending receptionist “Taina “how long he has been missing. Was told to wait while they checked their system . Confirmed my dogs information and provided a photo as he was chipped. Answered verbal questions how long I had him, what day did he go missing? She confirms a dog matching his information had indeed been there the day he went missing. I was then asked to wait ( 30 min). She then exclaimed “YES! “ I was elated in thinking I would be reunited with my dog! She then says “oh, no I wasn’t speaking to you” . When she finally did address me it was only to tell me that they don’t keep dogs past 3days. Then told me that my dog was out sourced to a rescue agency who would contact me.I went deaf. My heart plummeted. Understand I have had NORE since he was a puppy of 8 weeks old , a gift for Mother’s Day. He turns 9 years old next month. I left frustrated and angry. I repeatedly checked my phone as Taina had collected my information ( my name and cell phone number on to a post it.) I was hoping they would call me.I called to follow up the very next day and yet again interacted with the same rude staff member only to be told that” oh yea they wouldn’t contact me and that information is private. I asked first how is a rescue agency private? I explained just yesterday you were going to have them reach out to me ? I asked to speak to a supervisor . Taina agrees one would call me back. I asked for the supervisor’s name , she couldn’t provide that. Instead I waited 15 min for a return call once again with half information. “A rescue agency has him , no they cant provide contact number, no can’t confirm if they would even call me , there’s no guarantee , then finally he was already adopted.”They're opportunistic for profit. My dog was a mix yorkie-poodle with up to date vaccines. Funny how I when I arrived to look for my dog I felt hopeful as it happened to be “adoption day “ I was told by a waiting patrons that dogs that were on their premises had been there at that facility for months. My Nore didn’t last 3 days.“Taina” the receptionist spoke over me and cut me off, rudely sighed while I was explaining how I don’t understand her inconsistent and conflicting information. This place “ may “ be great with animals but incredibly lousy with their owners. Leadership and representative at THIS facility that I interacted with lacked compassion, sensitivity and what’s worse provided misinformation to a heartbroken dog owner.

Unfortunately, Animal Care Centers is a kill shelter, and it breaks my heart to see animals on death row due to the mere fact that they are homeless. This is the reason what got me into their foster program since they are at critical capacity for intake (acc never turns away surrendered animals that come through their doors) and that it keeps animals out of shelters and a lesser chance of them getting euthanized. It was pretty cut-and-paste to become a foster. All I had to do was attend a virtual orientation and fill out a quiz. Their foster team is small, but they do get back to inquiries and scheduled pickup times (granted there is a wait time). I've only been to their Brooklyn location, which is in a bit of a sketchy area, so you have to ring the doorbell before entering for safety reasons. I managed to pick up my foster cat pretty quickly. Prior to pick up, I requested some supplies (litter & dry/wet food) and they brought out a huge tote bag containing the items. The staff working there were friendly and considerate since I had an Uber waiting outside. The process alone took maybe less than ten minutes. I kept them updated on my foster's cat progress and they check in time-to-time to see how she was doing.
