At the end of April 2021, my family was all scheduled to move from Brooklyn to Texas via American Van Lines. After countless conversations about planning, costs, arrival times, etc., we were all set. Then on the day of the move AVL never showed up. They didn't even call to explain. We had to call them and we got one lie after the next. When we realized we had to find a new moving company, we started to panic, calling every one we could find on Google. Luckily Alex from Asata was able to come out in a matter of hours to give a quote on site and arrange a move for the next day. A professional team came out, packed everything up and loaded it onto their truck as promised. A few weeks later, I got the call that our stuff had arrived in TX and I'd need to meet them at the house the next day to receive the goods. Although the team to finish the move was not directly related to Asata, they did a great job. Long story short: American Van Lines cannot be trusted but Asata gets the job done.

I recently moved from NYC to dallas TX and used Asata. The price was below many of their competitors, so they were an easy choice. My representative Debra was very communicative and helpful throughout the whole process and helped ease my mind for this daunting task. The guys who picked up our items from NYC were thorough and helpful, but when we tipped them, the foreman was ungrateful of the amount and suggested we tip $500, which was 20% of the whole cost of our move. We are both in the service industry so we understand the importance of gratuity but this was very uncomfortable, and we felt pushed into having to give more.Upon arrival in dallas (only 10 days later), the delivery guys were both very nice and appreciative of the gratuity we gave them. A few boxes were beaten up a bit, unfortunately I have not been able to unpack anything yet to see if there are any damages, if so I will edit this review.Overall, I recommend Asata.

Don't be fooled, Deb is great at first, makes you feel very comfortable, but as soon as you pay they never call you back, I have multiple expensive items scratched, dented and damaged and they haven't responded to a single one of my inquiries. The movers in New York tried to make me give them $200 extra in cash to move my items even though I had reflected all changes to the coordinator prior to their showing up. Not worth the stress.

I echo the reviewer who had their belongings stolen. My iPhone in its original box along with a brand new phone protector were stolen by the movers. They helped themselves to it after telling me they were not happy with a 20% tip. Stay away!

I moved from NYC to Georgia, the experience was okay overall. Pricing was fine, workers were pleasant and respectful when they came(pickup and drop off). They were perhaps too efficient with the moving as they brought down items they were not supposed to including bags of garbage meant to be thrown out and clothing meant for my remaining days in NY.I was told movers would preform full breakdown and reassembly of furniture; 2 of my beds were not fully assembled (boards under mattress we left unscrewed) and they left the remaining screws taped in a container. One of the drawers for my bed was visibly broken and a dresser was damaged in the back. Finally, i recently underwent surgery and received 3 medications. I have 2/3 however my Percocet pain medication has been the only one missing since the move.Overall, a decent experience

I was scheduled with Asata for I move from a storage facility this past Friday. I spent a week trying to contact them to confirm At various numbers to which neither number announced the moving company by its name and when someone picked up they just answered with a hello. That in itself was very unprofessional and finally when Deborah did get back to me she apologize saying they were having issues with their IT department which certainly was just an excuse I’m sure. The day of my move I took a half a day off of work and travel two hours to get to my location where I was meeting Asata movers between 2-4pm. Needless to say they didn’t show and no one called and I wanted until 7pm. After being totally frustrated I have course tried to text my sales rep Deb to no avail and called Alex several times with no answer. Later that evening I got him on the phone to which he answered the telephone again with a hello not with a company name and then Told me yes the truck broke down. Do you think that if this was the truth they would’ve had the decency to call me and let me know that they were having issues if that was indeed true. Obviously I am not using them for my move and I have to have new movers now scheduled and I am awaiting my deposit back which they conveniently have not honored as of yet. Do not use this company I do not understand how a business can run so inefficiently. Terrible experience

Paid/fake reviews that is what it is. It has been almost two months since they picked up our boxes. Per communications on the estimate and the paper works, the rep confirmed the two weeks delivery from the time they pick up. It is almost two months soon. Despite calls and emails, no one has reached out to me to provide an ETA. Alex, the manager, does not even pick up my phone.Do not use them for Out of state.Update: I was finally able to talk with Alex to get an update. I will update my review upon receiving our boxes and our equipment.

My family and I had an amazing experience with Asata moving. I am going to make this a lengthy review so ya’ll truly understand. My job relocated me to Texas. I had contacted many moving companies, but none of them had the price offer or kept in touch with me the way Asata did. Debbie is so sweet and truly a great woman. She answered all my questions, text me and called me - which I loved. When the moving crew came to my home in New Jersey, they immediately went to work. I had already moved but they worked with my family at home to make sure everything was packed to perfection. They politely asked how tips would be given since it wasn’t included in the payment for the move itself. They deserved it. Legit sweating and took extreme care of my items. These guys work really hard. Within two weeks, all of my items arrived to my home in the same condition in which they were picked up. The crew that delivered my items were not the same guys that were in NJ, but they were also great. They assembled my bedroom furniture, unwrapped my TVs, and cleaned up after themselves. I felt the need to write this long review because as many moving companies do, there are mixed reviews when it comes to long distance. I am grateful I can speak for myself and happy I chose this company. Thank you so much Asata!

I'm going to be as objective as possible here...pause before choosing Asata if you are moving out of state. Based on our horrible experience I would have caution using them locally - which seem to be the bulk of the positive reviews. We allowed Alex into our home to show him literally everything in our home to give the most accurate quote. We received boxes, bubble wrap, paper, and tape hand delivered weeks prior. So far Asata was STELLAR in service and value! The day of our move, all of that went completely out the window...the mover came in and immediately stated we had more than what was on his list, and that it would cost us an extra $1,300 for these things. We opted to leave the extra items and try and sell them on eBay with the 3 days we had left in the city. We still ended up paying $600+ more than the contracted amount the day of. The mover had the gall to tell us he "saved us money, because they were going to charge us +$ more". I was utterly appalled. This is where it got worse. The head mover insisted we pay him 20% tip of $600. I know it is the recommended percentage, but extremely unprofessional to demand it. Keep in mind we just forked over an additional $600 for our stuff. And my girlfriend was left nervously distraught with this situation happening the day of our move. We were literally powerless, given we had flights in the next few days and this is our stuff they have in thier possession. I immediately asked if they work for Asata or are contractors, they said "yes". Then I called the business on the spot quite livid (and I'm a overly nice guy), but logically calm. We settled on 10% increase of the "new total quote" (+$600), and paid the guys a $300 tip for our 1 bedroom apt. So we signed an agreement, budgeted, prepared, and the day of they gouge us for an additional $1K. Because they did such a good job making it right for us on the drop off, giving us a far more professional and respectful staff, and a discount on the return balance, we gave them a one star bonus. My advice to avoid this experience to a future customer, is do a more thorough job on your quotes, be more transparent, and have higher professional expectations of your staff.

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW. A business that is running a criminal operation. Alex, Deb and any of the other partners do not care about you or your items. They just want you money. They will not take responsibility for any wrongdoing. We have items lost and damaged that are worth over $2500. This was not the only issue. When starting the process to move my parents from NY to Texas, Asata Moving Company came up. I went through all moving companies and decided to go with them because of the conversation my father and I had with Debra W******* She was pleasant to talk to,, but it was all fake. You will think you are in good hands, but you are not. Debra sent someone to our home to quote all items that would be shipped. Based on that and moving our vehicle, we were sent a final estimate. When moving day occurred the workers came in and packed everything nicely but required more money upfront than what the final bill said from Debra. My father paid and they took the items. We were told our vehicle would be picked up the same day, but it was not. My father and I had called for over a week to get a response or a schedule for when our vehicle would be shipped, but still no response. I went online and found the owners number through BBB and called the main number. After calling the main number 7 times in one day, I received a call back from Alex who said “my friend first of all you do not need to call a million times. I was on the other line helping a customer.” He never even gave me a chance to speak and that was the first thing he said. If that’s the main number and you're not answering, especially after not receiving a call back for over a week, I should be able to call that number many times to get a response. Alex continued on and said “what’s the problem”. I then was infuriated after being spoken to that way that I attempted to correct him several times that he should never speak to a customer that way, but he would not let me speak. He then said that the auto moving company is not his company and that I have to call them. UH what? That was never stated to us during this process. I don’t care who the company is. It’s your business, fix it. He then stated that well you can drive the vehicle to our center in New Jersey. I then responded with, “are you kidding me? My parents leave in two days to Texas. I’m not going to have them drive from NY to NJ to deliver a vehicle when that was your responsibility. After an hour of going back and forth, he said he would communicate a time for pickup which occurred later in the week. After the vehicle was picked up, we received messages from Alex for when our items would be delivered. However, what Deb and I agreed to was two free months of storage in Houston. She offered that to us. I called Alex to give him that fact, and he stated that he does not have that info. I said you will need to speak with Deb and situate this. Finally, he texted later that evening and stated that I do have 2 months of storage. MOVING DAY. I received a message the day before about the estimated time of arrival, which was 10-5. The next day I received a message from the driver that it would be between 4-6. The delivery happened after 7pm. What ASATA or Debra/Alex doesn’t say is that these guys that deliver to your destination are not their employees. They are hired 3rd party guys. These guys started to unload the * **** truck. They brought in one of our mattresses that was brand new($1000 worth). While they were bringing in other items, I went to that mattress to unwrap It and put it on the bed. I noticed holes throughout. I touched the side and it was wet. I then cut open all the plastic and was infuriated over the fact that this mattress was completely soaked and covered in mildew around the corners. It had a horrible smell. My father told the movers to grab it and take it back with them. Throughout the rest of the evening, we could recover three boxes full of hand tools and tool equipment, one big red box of tools and two boxes full of art work and picture frames. We also had one box full of picture frames an

Fantastic! The movers were kind, efficient and made sure everything was exactly the way I wanted. Ive moved several times in NYC and I was dreading this experience. This move was perfect! Completely stress free and they were so quick and careful! I have antiques and they showed so much care. Best movers in NYC!!! The price was very reasonable and lower than other estimates I received).

I used Asata to move from Brooklyn to Newark. I was charged a flat rate which was so convenient because I had no idea how long everything would take and how much the tolls would add up to. The company communicated with me before, during, and after the move. The movers were very kind people and they worked efficiently. They asked me to double check, sometimes triple check, things to make sure there was anything that I needed. I would definitely hire them again!Service: Out-of-county removals

Do not use this company! They are very unprofessional in their communication and business conduct. They were hired to move items long-distance and they not only were significantly late in moving the items, they were nasty when contacted about it. If you want your items securely relocated in a timely manner, use another company. For your peace of mind.
