This location is Store #08031 for anyone who has complaints.
I started going to this Five Below soon as it opened. I've always did the quick check out and there was no issue, I even pay for their bags myself at the register at self checkout unlike some. I go to 6 Five Below's in total, 4 in Bk 2 in Manhattan. All of those stores have counters with staff at the register and if they have self check out, it's actually self check out. The point of self checkout is to checkout yourself and do it quickly, not wait on a line or have to interact with staff like it's regular check out. Why is this Five Below treating self checkout as if it's regular checkout with a store employee guarding the self checkout and making us wait till they assist us with the check out? that defeats the purpose and makes it slower.
There's maybe 6 registers for self checkout and for awhile now, this location only has 2 of them open with 1 employee guarding them and scanning our stuff and forming a line. I don't get why this particular Five below changed. The employee on shift (Darkskin heavy set with dreads) during 6-21-24 around 12 noon was also sarcastic and acted like they had an attitude so I rated my store experience low. This same employee was on their cellphone about 2 weeks ago when I was using self check out, again guarding it while "assisting" but was on their Bluetooth. Perhaps people are stealing or such so now they're protecting self checkout, but in all honesty I'm getting tired of having to be punished as a paying customer for that. Stores like CVS or Target locking items up behind glass and now we have to call employees with a key, slowing down the process, I like to grab my stuff pay and get out. I could just order on Amazon for all this. Figure out a new way to handle thieves if this is why the change occurred, one that doesn't create inefficiency check out problems. I got no issue shopping online at a new place or just a different Five Below.

Great selection of kids to teen items. The candy is not being stored properly because every piece was too soft and semi melted together. Might be a back of the house thing.
