This place is a scam. They refuse to refund my deposit after canceling a move.

1 star is too high of a rating. These people are liars, unprofessional, and extremely unreliable. We got one quote from the original walk through. Then another final one where the quote doubled. When the actual movers showed up, the price was even higher and they refused to honor the discount we were told about on the phone. They said they would send two trucks, but the company they contracted with only sent one and promised everything would fit, which it didn’t. We told them it wouldn’t fit the day before and they said it would cost thousands more to send another truck. We agreed to get the second truck, but they blew us off three times and we told them not to send it because we ran out of time. Leo, the person we dealt with, used vulgar, vile language with us and insisted on sending the second truck, which we had to argue and waste time telling him to not send it as we had already made arrangements for the remainder of our possessions. They originally said they would be at our new residence on Monday. It is now Tuesday and we haven’t heard a word from them. I’m not sure if we’ll ever see our stuff on the truck again. I don’t know how these people stay in business because they were not cheap. The only good thing was that the young guys who were doing the actual heavy lifting were very nice and quick and wrapped what would fit on the truck with care. Save yourself the hassle and go with another company.

One star is very generous. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and hope to receive a prompt response. My mother used this company to move out of state. They were unprofessional and inappropriate from the beginning, quoted her one amount and then charged her another, changed the date of pick-up several times, and got conflicting information non-stop. When her furniture was delivered, the mover repeatedly called her vulgar names, and refused to open the truck until she paid him an additional $375. When she said this was not communicated to her so she couldn't pay this amount, he drove off and did this several times throughout this horrid encounter. He told her he was going to throw all of her things away if she did not tip him an additional $75. Pretty bold for a grown man wearing a Pikachu onesie, but that is neither here nor there. He also did not move the items into her condo although she paid for that service, so she had to move everything herself upstairs as an older, disabled woman. He threw all of her items onto the lawn and almost everything was broken. The company will not answer any of the phone calls to resolve the issue. This is a scam company and should immediately be dissolved. I am appalled that anyone would allow their staff to act in such a manner, it is truly embarrassing for them. Please do not use this "company".

Absolutely despicable company. Doubled the initial quote twice and didn’t pick up the items that we paid for. We were charged $4800 to pick up a couch, king size bed, and dining room table. Not only will Thomas Guy (salesman) not return my phone calls but he blocked my number. Do not use this company.

Didn’t actually use them but wanted a moving quote. After reading the negative reviews I won’t be using them. Very pushy on phone and tried to get my bank routing and account number on that first call. Other payment option was Zelle. Both seemed like a very shady way to pay an established company. How about you do estimates first and not pressure people into booking immediately?

Worst moving company I have ever dealt with. Multiple times we were lied to. First about the timeline of when our stuff would arrive. Garin said it would arrive within 3 days only to get a deposit out of me. Then the second guy Sam corrected saying it could take 2 weeks. Okay we understand. But the Sam made numerous arrival times for movers to pick our stuff up 3 times. We waited and wasted time that could have been spent with our family and friends. When I confronted him he kept replying they had movers on the way but we denied them. We denied when on the 3rd day we found a different moving company that was able to get our stuff that day. Moving is a stressful time for anyone. We asked for a refund and they only offered 10% because their time is costly. Their time they did nothing for us. But our time is not worth a fair refund. We did not ask for the full amount but was asking for at least 60%. A moving company that only cares about scamming you out of a deposit, not customer care. Never will use them.

Don't ever use this company! They seem nice enough at first, but after they take your money and furniture, they lie. It took almost 2 months for my stuff to arrive, and that was only after I threatened them with legal action. Their initial quote was way off, too. Whenever I tried to call about the status of my stuff, they either flat out lied and told me it's on the way or kept making excuses about how they couldn't find a truck. Seriously? You're a moving company and you can't find a truck for 2 months? It was also a pain getting a hold of them because most of the time no one picked up the phone. When my furniture finally did arrive, a lot of it was damaged.Save yourself the headache and find another moving company, even if it costs more. Gold Star is very unprofessionally, and it's clear they have little experience with moving and don't care about your stuff.

Cheating and FraudThis company has caused me extraordinary inconvenience. They quoted me for express packing and express delivery (immediate in the contract). These guys delivered my stuff after 2 months (what an express immediate delivery service!!!) and managed to collect an extra $1158 saying that the broker company requires them to collect. After several calls with this guy called Tim, I started recording their calls because every other call they would lie to me with a straight face. I contacted the broker company sending them the call logs and they also agreed that Tim has cheated me and is not responding to their calls anymore. Having called Tim, he recognizes the problem and says if I decide to pursue this in court or contact lawyer, I would never get my money back. I was patient as he suggested not that he would resolve this situation. It has been 6 months, I have contacted the BBB and the broker company as well but none has helped. Last I talked to Tim, he said the company balance is negative and he would only return my money when the balance becomes positive.I advise you to stay away from these people as they are rude and they will find a way to cheat you.!!!! I am going to pursue this in the court of law until I get my money back.

My actual rating of Gold Star Moving LLC is negative 5 stars!Gold Star Moving LLC agreed to move my household from Chicago To Oceanside CA on May 29-30, 2018 for $6,790. No show on 5/29. They moved 1/2 of my household on 5/30 to an undisclosed warehouse. They loaded the remainder on 5/31. I was not presented with paperwork until 12:40 PM on 5/31 (they backdated all but one of the documents to look like paperwork had been presented and signed on 5/30). My plane was taking off at 4 PM. I was told that because they had to load the truck (1500 cubic foot Avis box truck) twice, they said I had 3,000 cubic feet of household goods instead of the estimated 1500. My move was now almost $17,000! I argued and was able to get a 5% discount. But I had no choice. I paid the bill over 2 credit cards and left for the airport. I was in shock!Despite full payment of the extorted amount, my household goods were held hostage in Chicago for over six weeks and finally delivered on Sunday, July 15 at 6:45 PM. They arrived in the same 1500 cubic foot Avis box truck that Gold Star used in Chicago. Not only did all my household goods fit in that truck, the back portion of the truck had someone else's goods on board as well!Gold Star Moving LLC is a disgrace to the moving industry!

I've moved several times and this time around Gold Star Moving made it easy, quick and professional. Booking was easy and I got a really fast response with a quote and they answered all my questions about the moving process. The movers were on-time, careful with my furniture, packed my kitchen appliances and made the process a smooth one. I'd recommend this moving company to anyone.

I have moved several times and moving with Gold Star Moving was the best experience. They packed and moved me and were just awesome. Nothing was a problem for them, they were courteous and professional. I have never left a review on any service before but they really deserve my appreciation.
