The clothes in this store are stunning. All of the fabrics are handmade, as are the clothes. I found a dress that I loved, but it didn't fit. The owner took my measurements and altered the dress (for free!) and because I don't live in NY, he shipped it to me. I only wish he had items for sale listed on his website so I could order more. The owner, and his family, are lovely humans. The bar staff is also super kind and great drink makers! All around, it's a very cool spot. I wish I could hang out there more.

VERY HOSTILE OWNER WITH NO RESPECT FOR WOMEN. HE LIKES TO SPIT N THOW TEMPER TANTRAMS VERY DISGUSTING INDIVIDUAL On July 8 a friend and I went into this establishment, the bar and lounge to use the restroom with permission from the bartender. The bartender told us the bathroom was down a flight of stairs to make a right and the bathroom is on your right. Upon us entering the bathroom an very aggressive angry man entered the restroom behind two women already inside. One already being inside the stall using the bathroom. He began yelling and screaming at the top of his lungs at us. Upon coming out of the stall this gentleman aggressively forced himself into the stall as I am trying to come out. I proceeded to wash my hands as he continues to yell and scream at us two ladies. We tried explaining we had permission n he did not want to hear it at all. He said he was the cleaner of the bathroom only to find out he is the actual owner. Upon us existing after obsencenities exchange and we were leaving his establishment he hog spit on me. I was devastated mortified and totally disrespected. He is a mean and nasty human being. it is not alright n I'm not ok.

During the pandemic lockdown this store put out a sandwich sign changing themselves into a "Mask Store." Everything else inside, including all the high end clothing, was the same!

Love you Jimmy. And I LOVE my Gureje gear. This place is more than a shop, it's a community.

Apparently this place is a boutique by day and an art bar by night. I noticed on the mirror someone had written "Art +Community= Venue. My friend informed me that they have several artists come there to perform or have listening parties. I must say that I probably wouldn't have come here on my own but I'm glad that I was exposed to something different last night. You don't know what you like or dislike unless you try it first.

Met Petra here in Canada, and had to inquire about her amazing pant suit. She told me all about you and I'm in love with your style. Hoping to have something made in the near future for myself and daughter!

This review is for the bar behind Gureje, not the retail storefront: I've attended several events at the bar behind Gureje. I love the space and will definitely be back for their monthly comedy nights. Every time I go the space looks different, which I find fun and exciting. The drink specials also change often and always sound delightful. Unfortunately, every cocktail I've had there has been just slightly disappointing. (Mulled wine that wasn't warm. A sweet cocktail missing a hit of acid to round it out.) This may be part of their growing pains as they get comfortable with their new bar space. Cash only (but if you don't want to trek out into the rain or snow to the atm, they'll take a card for a tab over $20.)

This is a nice little boutique with custom made jewelry and clothing (men and women). A great spot to rent if you want to throw small parties or photo shoots. And Jimi, the owner, is the nicest guy ever! I can tell when it gets warmer, I will be showing my face there a lot.

I've been living in the area for 4 yrs and have always wanted to stop by... so the day before my 27th birthday, I did! It was such a great experience (and there's a sale going on too!) This 10 yr old boutique is the epitome of what BK is - custom, locally produced goods with a music vibe. The owner produces tie dyed African inspired clothing, of which he can tailor for you on the spot. I recently bought a linen dress that I love & can't wait to wear.. and pair of funky huge star earrings. Def a place to go to for unique, well made items. Prices are on the high end but if you take into account the craftsmanship and the quality.. it's reasonable. Anthropologie items can cost 2 - 3x what's in the store... There's a spot out back that is used for classes / workshops / events but I haven't attended any yet. Found a great article on this spot:
