This place has the most wonderful atmosphere and is truly one of the best Mexican restaurants that we have ever tried! Our server, John, was incredible and made so many great recommendations that made our meal that much more amazing! Highly recommend if you are in the area.

We really had expectations but this restaurant fell short. The guacamole was ok but it was missing a kick. The tacos were very blend. You would have expected a far better presentation if the dishes for a Michelin star restaurant. The dessert (black sesame curd) however was a pleasant surprise with the presentation and the right balance of texture and taste. The service was very basic and they forgot one of our orders.Overall, an average experience, with a price of a Michelin star. Not sure I would recommend it to a friend. The service was very basic, no

Not the most welcoming entrance, cold front patio seating that never warmed up, not seating I’d expect to be reserved. Bar was nice, great drinks, but somewhat decaying and dirty around the edges. Food overall was fairly disappointing, missing fresh flavors. The hot sauces were unique and fresh. Dishes just lacked bright flavors that I would expect from a higher rated place.Appetizers of chips, salsa, guacamole were good but overly large and oily. They’re treated more like a main dish. The menu fails in dish size and options. The Tuna Tostada was a moderately poor dish consisting of one tortilla with overly salted tuna layered in sesame seeds and a glaze that completely obliterated the fish flavor. The Sweet Potato Tlayuda was more of a dessert dish mixing Mole with purple sweet potato. This could have been balanced so much better. The Lamb Barbacoa Tacos were two single layer small tacos, two bites each and decent in flavor.Overall it was just too much oil and sweet, really lacking a bright tangy spicy wood fired flavor. For a place putting a more upscale front to their food and establishment it misses in multiple areas. Service was great at least with some really nice cocktails.

I wanted to like Oxomoco. Being from Austin, Texas, and my wife is from Mexico, I wanted to eat at the Michelin starred restaurant and thoroghly enjoy the meal.It wasnt bad, just not what you would expect from a featured Michelin restaurant.Lets talk bar service. Soda and tonic are not the same. Soda water is carbonated water, while tonic water is carbonated water with quinine and often a sweetener. Tonic water has a slightly bitter, citrusy taste. When a customer asks for soda, that is what they want. The second time the restaurant attempts to pass off tonic as soda, and the customer insists on soda, the issue should be corrected without an issue. At Oxomoco, the waiter and the bartender discussed the customer with the customer just a few feet away. It is never okay to do this. Most people don't go to restaurants for the soda or tonic. They go for the food.Consider making chips and salsa free.I had some pretty decent swordfish tacos. A solid 4, I would encourage copia style (add an extra corn tortilla) and go ahead and add a third taco.My wife had the wood fired grill chicken. That was a solid 5.We were there celebrating my stepdaughter's birthday. They brought her meal out about 7 minutes ahead of the other folks in the party. When asked about desert, only one person responded and off the waiter went. Which was the third staff member acting as our waiter. If we wanted something else, I guess we didnt count.I kept wondering what we did to warrant spotty service on a Tuesday evening. We had 8pm reservations, and it seemed to me, they were more interested in getting ready to close than to serve their customers. A sure fire way to close permanently if they continue.Again, good food, ok service and terrible attention to detail.

Before I begin I’d like to preface this with I NEVER write reviews and I NEVER tip under 15%. I used to work in the restaurant industry as a waiter and bartender. I have great respect for those who work in the service industry. However, I can say without a doubt this was the WORST service experience of my life. This was a special restaurant booked for my best friends birthday. The food was decent but underwhelming for a Michelin star restaurant. Especially coming from my friend who is from Tampico, Tamaulipas, MX and lives in Austin, TX.But the real kicker was the service. We had the 3 different servers over the course of our meal. The first was extremely pleasant and nice. The second was rude and condescending but nothing near as infuriating as the 3rd server. And had the it just been the first two servers I wouldn’t have been angry enough to write a review or leave such a poor tip.Now to the 3rd server: the blonde, flamboyant server with glasses. He could not have been more rude and condescending if he was a prison guard at a maximum security prison. The first server misheard me and brought the wrong drink. Which I drank and didn’t say anything because I’m terrified to send things back. But when I ordered a second drink I made sure that she was sending the correct drink over in a very polite manner. However, when the 3rd server asked if I wanted another drink which I said yes and specified the correct order. I then watched the bartender make the wrong drink 15 ft away from me. When he brought it over I specified if it was the correct drink and asked for the correct one very politely. He very rudely rolled his eyes and walked away. Up until this point everything was fine with me. I then watched and listened to him and the bartender complain and roll their eyes about me while I started directly at them to make them aware I could hear them.I do not complain often. But ridiculing me and complaining about me while I am in earshot and within eyesight is unacceptable. At the very least have the courtesy to go into the back room and complain. We were all severely disappointment with this restaurant. And while everything else (the food, location, presentation, timing of course’s) was all very poor, it was the service in the end that brought me to write this review.I am absolutely certain that you can find a better Mexican restaurant in the city and am completely perplexed how they obtained a Michelin star.

My favorite restaurant in New York by a MILE!! If you have the pleasure to meet John, he’s a ray of sunshine and made my 6th time here all the more special. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, and he sure to try as much of the menu as you can. Came for brunch and dinner, and they were both amazing.

The host will *not* seat you until you share your name and phone number, to be sold to Resy, who will build a profile about when and where you spend your time with your loved ones, and then sell that information to advertisers and political activists.SAY NO TO RESTAURANTS THAT REQUIRE YOUR PERSONAL DATA. There is absolutely ZERO reason that a restaurant needs your information. This is a problem for all of us.
