I can’t say enough about this Ridgewood Savings Bank location. The employees of this bank are simply fantastic. They consistently go above and beyond to assist their customers. Aside from their expertise, they are a caring group of individuals and while the entire Bay Ridge 3rd ave office is exceptional, I must mention John Merola as a standout among the already outstanding staff. He was able to facilitate what could have been tedious, daunting, tasks for my elderly aunt in the wake of her daughter’s passing. John has been extremely patient with her and takes the time to explain things to her in a way she understands. We are extremely grateful to these fine people who remind me of why we like to bank with “smaller” banks. You, the staff, are the reasons for the success of this branch at 8522 3rd Avenue. Thank you for all you do.

Recently my family went through a terrible tragedy and all of the people at this bank (8522 3rd Ave) went above and beyond. My family had been using this bank for years and years, for me I was new to the bank. After my experience, I changed banks. John, thank you for everything.

My thanks to district manager James who clearly explained why a teller might ask why I was withdrawing a large cash amount over $3000 . I was concerned that this appeared invasive. He explained that there was a spate of con artists scamming or even forcing elderly victims into withdrawing cash. Asking the customer what the money is for, gives the teller the chance to eyeball the customer for signs that he or she might be a scam victim. again many thanks for answer my inquiry. I've been a very pleased consumer at RSB for 40 years.

This is by far the most confusing review for me to write so I'll best explain. I truly believe I was a victim of DISCRIMINATION at this bank. On 24 May 21 I went with my elderly handicap father to open a bank account for my wedding. Now - I will be honest - both my father and I were not dressed the best to visit the bank. We just finished working on a car therefore we had only a few minutes on our break to open an account. During my experience, the employees did eye us like we were low class Latinos in the manner we're presented. At the end, the manager (believe his name was John) came to the table to present a "Notice of Adverse Action". For those who don't know, banks have a enforcement entity amongst themselves named "Chex Systems" that screens clients prior to opening accounts. The manager looked at me with some type of disgust as if I was trying to perhaps "scam their systems"? Soon after the sales person apologized, not the manager, and my father looked in protest when we were asked to leave. Given I have good credit, 5 bank accounts and other credit cards, it was concerning they wouldn't provide an explanation but just a letter to reach out to this secret police force " Chex Systems". I spoke to that organization as well as a banker (who is a friend) of a competitor - both authorities could not explain why Ridgewood Savings bank would deny me service. In summary, God bless America for competition because I just opened an account with a different company.

Could be one of the last "Coin star" machines in the NYC area, but it's still here. I was a little bummed because there is no option to get a "gift card" for no fee, because that's what I would usually do in the past. (i.e. to Starbucks or Amazon) Therefore, if you don't have an account with them, they charge you 10% of the total change. Not a big deal, they have to pay their bills too. I'm happy for the convenience, and the staff is really VERY nice. A nice Bay Ridge staple for your banking needs.

Excellent conservative bank that still gives you a bankbook if you like the old school way . Long time employees that know your name and you know theirs. Friendly and professional staff , thank you Ridgewood.
