Such a joyful experience, in stark contrast to the usual experience of trying on pants, especially vintage denim. Ended up with my holy grail denim and comfortable stan rays, which had evaded me until now.

What a delightful experience from start to finish! I booked after seeing Emma Straub's instagram post about The Consistency Project, couldn't believe that a non-traumatic vintage jeans finding experience existed... it does! I showed up, talked to the lovely team about what I was looking for, and was brought multiple pairs of cool pants that fit! I ended up purchasing two classic pairs that I feel like I've been looking for my whole life. I don't live in NYC so they are shipping them to me post alteration (altering and shipping included in the flat fee) and I can't wait for them to arrive! 10/10 recommend.

An incredible concept with an incredible team to match! I had a wonderful experience at my appointment, tried on 10 pairs, and ultimately left with 3 that I'm super psyched about. Nothing fits like something altered just for you!

I had a great experience at The Consistency Project! Everyone who works there is so friendly and knowledgable about denim, and the experience was just what I was looking for: to be properly measured and for someone to consult and advise me on denim style, fit, etc. Plus, they do free alterations!

Love The Consistency Project! I try to shop almost exclusively secondhand/ vintage but pants and bottoms are the only things that have eluded me because fit is so difficult. The Consistency Project is a brilliant idea, wonderfully executed by the team there. Our appointment fitting (dragged my husband too) was timely and they let us try on so many things. They’re clearly motivated by helping customers, not pushing products or sales. Thanks for a great time!

This was a life-changing experience! Usually shopping for denim leaves one feeling dejected and demoralized - this was totally the opposite. The amazing women of this shop spent 90 minutes fitting me with the perfect vintage 501's - and everything they brought for me to try fit perfectly (so I spent my time choosing a look and style, not worrying about whether they fit). I would highly recommend to anyone!

Loved my visit! Took my measurements and magically produced the perfect fitting vintage jeans in about 5 mins flat. They still took the time to try on a bunch more, and the level of detail and care was really noteworthy!

Loved my time with The Consistency Project! A few friends recommended it and on my most recent trip to the city, I made it a priority to go! I made a 1:1 custom fit appointment and hoped to find some colorful Stan Rays. I’d never tried Stan Rays on before and the whole process was luckily very customized to me, my body, and the colors and fits I preferred. Maddy took my measurements, talked about their custom Stan Rays seasonal dyes, and walked me through the fit variations and how the pants would change over time. I easily tried on 8 pairs of Stan Rays and felt at ease the whole time. No rush, no pressure. While I chose a pair that didn’t need it, alternations are included in the price as well! It was a completely wonderful, relaxing experience! Maddy and Natasha were so friendly, genuine, and clearly really care about what they do. Would recommend!

This was such a lovely experience! Trying on jeans is usually my worst nightmare, but the staff was so warm and dedicated to finding my most flattering style / fit of Levi’s that I felt completely supported and at ease along the way. I probably tried on over 20 different pairs total, and ended up with two favorites in different washes and styles. I’m excited to take them home with me after the custom alterations and rock them with a renewed confidence. Would highly recommend this to anyone who struggles finding a great pair of denim and will be back for sure!

I've had at least 4 friends recommend CP and am so happy I finally scheduled a fitting. Maddy was very helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly - easily one of the best shopping experiences I've had in NYC. Based on previous styles that fit me well, pants currently in my rotation, and silhouettes I was interested in exploring, Maddy pulled a bunch of vintage Levi's in mint condition. We found a pair in excellent shape that rounds out my closet and will fit perfectly with a bit of tailoring. I have already recommended CP to several people!

The team at the consistency project is fantastic. I loved being able to book an appointment and work with them to find the right pants for my body and style. They were so knowledgeable and supportive, had a really great inventory, and were super responsive to my concerns and feedback. If you’ve ever had a meltdown trying on pants in a poorly lit dressing room, definitely pay them a visit!
