Dropped off my classic BMW for an exhaust replacement. I brought the long center pipe/resonator section, rear muffler and chrome tailpipe tip. They fabricated the other components, including the hangers, then welded all the seams, and installed with an absolutely perfect fit and finish. Sounds great too. They called me two hours earlier than expected to pick up the car. Could not be happier. Great mechanics. Excellent communication.

Grateful to have found this place on such short notice. My engine light had come on and Rob at the front desk was kind, courteous and more importantly accommodating. He called me within an hour or so of dropping off my vehicle with the solution and price. Needless to say, I will be returning for future service needs and would highly recommend this place! Thanks, Rob and team @ Gallon Measure.

A few months ago I had a catastrophic engine failure occur on the highway due to bad fuel disabling the car. I live in the area and was able to get ahold of Gallon Measure and had the car towed there on a Saturday. Meet with Rob Monday morning who was great with putting together an estimate and Brian went a step above doing the work replacing with a donor engine and tracking down some random obscure issues that occurred with the switch. All in all a couple weeks later the car was back to normal running better than before and still going strong without issues 6k miles later!
They definitely know their stuff when it comes to diagnosing and repair, are transparent with the work needed/being done and costs are reasonable and accurate with the estimates. I've since taken other vehicles there for maintenance items and had just as good an experience. Definitely would recommend them for all sorts of work from minor upkeep to major repairs (like an engine replacement).

Gallon Measure is the only place I trust to work on my three vehicles. Brian, Rob and the crew there are true professionals who set the standard for how a shop should be run. When my wife’s transmission started acting funny, another shop wanted to charge us 10k for a new transmission and labor. I contacted a really good friend of mine who has used them for years. He told me to bring it to Gallon Measure and have them look at it. Brian worked tirelessly to figure out the issue and pinpoint what it was. They came up with an estimate that was almost 7k less than where we had previously went to. Rob’s estimates are always spot on and they constantly communicate anything else that may need to be done. They understand the mechanics of all types of vehicles and do some of the best work I have ever seen. Today when my Transit van had a caliper lock up on a camping trip, I called them and they communicated what needed to be done. Through their knowledge my wife’s and my nerves were eased and they got us back on the road so we could continue our trip. There are a LOT of mechanics in the Hudson Valley, but Gallon Measure is the only one I trust to shoot it to me straight and get the job done. These guys are true life savers and I only have great things to say about them. If you need any kind of mechanical work on your vehicles Gallon Measure should be your first stop. I drive 35 minutes to have them work on my vehicles because they are the best of the best. Thanks Brian, Rob and the rest of your A+ team.

Took my truck to gallon measure after it sat in the dealership for over two months with no answers. Only option the dealership gave me was to replace the entire engine. Brian took one look at my truck and said the dealer was full of you know what. Turns out the dealer lied about the underlying issue and did a half assed job with the original repairs including installing a broken camshaft. Brian and rich worked on the truck fixing all the issues including the one the dealer knew about but didn’t bother to address. They did the job right and in a timely manor. Rob kept in touch with me about the progress of the repairs and made sure I knew if any additional parts would be needed and any increase in cost. Even though the truck needed quite a bit of work the guys at gallon gave me a very fair price and completed the work quickly. Needless to say all my vehicles will now be going to the gallon. There really is nothing like a good old local mechanic. Thanks gallon measure!

Have been to various auto shops and dealerships during my lifetime but this has been the most disappointing experience I've ever had. Didn’t fix anything but charged for it. Realized there were other options as this wasn't a challenging task, but I suppose their incompetency didn't make it happen and they don't know how to fix it.

I've been going to Gallon Measure ever since a friend recommended them when I moved to the area in 1993. I was a little worried when the original owners retired but after having the new guys work many times on my old van, my miata, and my wife's subaru the tradition of reliability and fairness has continued to the present. Most recently they did a great job fixing a stuck window in my miata that involved replacing the window regulator because the old frayed cable had failed. Most shops would have nailed me for an assembly with a new motor in the door as well. Instead they were able spool the new cable and mechanism into the original motor and it was a skilled and fidgety job that looked neither fun nor easy. After all these years I still recommend Gallon Measure and to those I have, none have been disappointed.
Also, it's smart to develop a relationship with a shop and bring them your easy jobs like oil changes instead of going to the chains, you'll save money and get better service in the long run believe me. These guys are honest and work hard, which can't be easy when working with cars and people!

My car died while I was driving it and needed a new alternator. The battery already in the car was fairly new but they apparently had to replace that as well. Anyways. A year later I bring it in for an oil change and I get a phone call that I need a new alternator again. Interesting. So I tell the guy im not gonna do it and I can tell he is shocked. He tells me if I do that the car is gonna die while im driving it. Told him I didn't care and got my car back. Have not been back to gallon measure since and my car has not died.

I recently took my car to Gallon Measure in Buchanan, and I couldn't be happier with the service I received! From the moment I walked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming, making me feel confident that my Jeep, Charlie was in good hands.
The mechanics are highly skilled and knowledgeable. They quickly diagnosed the issue with my car and explained the problem to me in a way that was easy to understand. My radiator cracked and I panicked it was going to be costly. I do have one of the “extended warranties” but wasn’t confident I’d be able to use it. Not only were they able to get it covered it was done seamlessly without my having to make a single phone call!
I appreciated their transparency about the costs and the necessary repairs, which made the whole process stress-free.
What stood out the most was their commitment to customer satisfaction. They went above and beyond to ensure my car was fixed promptly and efficiently. I was back on the road in no time, and the quality of the work was exceptional.
If you're looking for a trustworthy and reliable mechanic, I highly recommend Gallon! Their dedication to quality service and customer care is truly commendable!
Noteworthy to point out that they are also incredibly committed to this community. They sponsor the local teams, co-host a fun car show and they also collaborate with the highschool to help students who want to pursue a career in automotive.

Apparently they were great in the past, but new ownership has clearly changed things. Went there several times, and each time they found a new problem. Nail in tire (don't worry, they took care of it), battery broke down exactly during their inspection?!?! Don't worry, they already replaced the battery with a new one. Of course you'll need to pay for a new battery. Oh, that new battery is already broken a year later. I wonder how new it actually was. Careful with this people, although I'm sure they do a good job if you keep an eye on them. By the way: Little Bear Wheel Alignment down the street seems to be affiliated with Gallon Measure somehow, and they also found things that needed replacement in the car that did not actually needed to be replaced. So bad experience overall with these people.

These guys are my new go-to. My car was acting up. I thought it needed something serious. Apparently the tires just needed air. ? embarrassing but they didn’t make me feel dumb about it. They also didn’t charge me for a brand new flux capacitor like other places would have. ? Thank you for not taking advantage of those of us that clearly don’t know cars. ?Service: Tires
