When you come to visit and learn the moves in Tai Chi you will be surprised to see people you know and also make new friends. I have participated faithfully for 18 months and have gained many insights as Master Sean shares stories while giving instruction. I have gained more flexibility and balance which is very important as one ages. People from all walks of life and of all ages practice together. A great community of people to be surrounded by.

North Country Tai Chi has a talented core of practitioners at all levels. New students are welcomed into a supportive community of playful learning both in person or online. This makes beginning easy and accessible.A library of online instructional videos allows students to learn on their own or clarify details. From beginners to advanced practitioners, all are welcome.

I've participated in North Country Tai Chi for a year and a half now, and I love the culture and philosophy as much as the actual learning of the forms. Tai Chi is very relaxing and the focus on specific body movements helps with balance and wellness. I recommend it for anyone trying to just slow down and reflect on things you might not have thought about before. The addition of distance participation via Zoom also makes the class even more accessible when you can't go to classes in-person.

If you are looking to understand Tai Chi and the tai chi principles you have come to the right place. North Country Tai Chi is not just about learning a form. It is about building a community that builds on the strengths of each invidual while "playing" tai chi. You will not be disappointed.

I have taken Tai Chi classes in the last few years, and I have enjoyed it a lot. Master Sean is very helpful with each step; he does not only teach steps but he also gives you reason why and how to do it perfectly. I highly recommend to take classes with Master Sean wether in person or virtually.

I'm doing my 3rd semester with Master Sean and I value this opportunity greatly. I don't feel any pressure to move up or learn faster, and yet I can feel that without much conscious effort (beyond getting to the classes) I am nevertheless improving. But I also feel welcome to stay right here in Beginners, and each class is different, so I'm always learning or practicing new things in a new way.

My husband and I are both from northern New York, but lived in the Capital District, just east of Albany, for 24 years. We jumped on the chance to join a class there when the opportunity arose, but were disappointed that it was basically a "T'ai Chi dance class" - all we learned were just some basic movements. How ironic that it took moving back to northern New York to find a real T'ai Chi school! We began 8 years ago in the fall of 2013. We were looking for something we could do together, but I was also looking for some short term stress and migraine relief. I got so very much more - my physical, emotional, and mental health have all improved, and I have much better balance and body awareness now than I did when I began. I'm just amazed to be able to do not only the 24 Form, the form most often taught, but also a drill form called The Gate of Life, as well as the 48 Form. Classes are informal, chatty, friendly and supportive. Master Sean is good humored, patient, an excellent instructor, and fully invested in supporting the school and its students - when the pandemic shut down in-person classes for all three locations (Canton, Potsdam, and Heuvelton), he developed some fast technical skills and learned how to beam into us via Zoom. And now, not only has this allowed new students from out of the area to benefit from these classes, but the rest of us never have to miss a class if we're away .. for whatever reason. With a laptop and an internet connection, we can participate literally from anywhere. An incredibly extensive online-video library is also available to all students and includes the three forms most often practiced, but also Sun style, Old style Yang, special events, and forms broken down into smaller segments for students new and old to study more closely. This is the real deal, definitely worth the time and effort .. if you're ready.

Master Sean is a patient, supportive instructor. My husband and I have taken Tai Chi classes from him for several years. Our stress levels have dropped, our balance and health have improved, and we have joined a wonderful community. We can't recommend these classes enough!

Studying tai chi with Master Sean has been a great experience for me. It has helped me find balance and comfort in my body in ways I've never felt before. Along with learning and practicing the forms in class, Master Sean weaves in insights about the historical, philosophical, and health aspects of what we're practicing. He fosters a very supportive atmosphere in which students participate and progress in whatever manner suits them..
