Terrible business practice to refuse to honor checks written from your account holders to neighbors who are not. Those checks represent a good faith transactions between you, your client, and the payee, and there is no legitimate reason to withhold that service from the public. By doing so, you do a horrible disservice to your clients writing those checks - and may place them into a predicament where their checks will no longer be accepted due to TBOGC's unwillingness to cash them.Additionally, the teller at the drive-thru in the Fairview Avenue branch in Greenport totally disregarded my discontent and ended the conversation without allowing for my explanation or an opportunity to request a supervisor. I suppose that kind of service is what you can expect as a non--client as well. Don't worry, you won't have to be concerned about me trying to become one.

Let's just put it like this. I have been an Albany/Greene resident all of my life until recently when I moved out of state. I still have my checking account with them, and lately have run through a very tight spot. Thanks to their overdraft privileges (I hate using them, but when push comes to shove...) I have been able to make my bills and ends meet without suffering late charges and hits to my credit score. The customer service is very friendly and are a pleasure to do business with and have even helped me forgive a few of the overdraft charges themselves. All in all, I don't plan on closing my account anytime soon, even though I'm out of state now. I recommend this bank to anyone in the Albany/Greene County area.

I've been a banking customer for 8 years and will probably close my account. They have made repeated mistakes wiring money and always make me feel like I am asking too much by requesting a wire transfer. I used their bill payment service online, and when the check was never received they said I would have to pay a $37 fee to stop payment because they don't issue the checks, but use a service that does it for them. Not in love with paying a penalty for their mistakes.

As a local bank they go above and beyond to help out with issues whenever possible. Special shout out to Nicholas Frantjeskos who ALWAYS solves problems quickly and continually calms the waters on an assortment of last minute crises!

Checked my balance, they bounced 3 things that the money was there to cover. This is a regular occurrence for them. Horrible bank, money hungry and very low priority for customers trying to survive. Looking forward to getting my whole family out of there, worst bank I've ever dealt with.

So once one payment doesn't clear, the snowball effect of more not going through happens, they just keep on tacking on fees. kicking people when they're down should be their motto. If I couldn't make the first, just keep tacking them on. I'll take part of the blame, I need to learn to balance my bank account, but that doesn't change the fact that if from your 1st NSF to your payday is 3 days, they will continue tacking on fees. Working 2 jobs to try to survive , but hey at least they got their $481.

OH MY GOSH! The employees here are so nice here. When speaking to Marry I literally had one of the best conversations I’ve ever had in my entire life. Sure I’m not the most social person in the world, but still it has to mean something. If only I can open many more accounts just to be in such an amazing and friendly environment. This bank gives a higher rate of interest on their savings accounts than Key Bank . A lot of local people an businesses are switching .

A decent local bank. Unfortunately they have predatory overdraft fees. Their mobile alert system is severely flawed. When trying to get a mortgage for a second property the woman I was put in touch with never called me back. Ended up going with Ulster savings bank.Edit: you can see by their response just how generic their customer service really is.
