Total shame. Place was great when it was open to the public. The owners refuse to open post pandemic - only offering pre ordered food to be picked up on Saturdays. The community deserves an establishment in this location that is open to the public and people visiting town.

Weird place. Not friendly at all. Prices very high for a cold sandwiches. Coffee isn't great either. Salmon toast with cheep quality of salmon. I guess they are doing better with the bakery but it is also expensive.

Great little cafe. The food was very savory. I loved the outdoor space where you can enjoy the small town scenery. Highly recommend the lattes. The pastries are excellent

Wine-tasting buddy, Marji, and I often grab a sandwich and head up to Furnace Brook Winery to enjoy sipping and sitting (either in their screened gazebo overlooking the orchard or in front of their huge stone fireplace). We FINALLY hit a day when Ben's was open, as we'd been wanting to try it but not hitting its open days (Thursday - Sunday, catering to the weekend City crowd). Menu, which changes regularly, is printed on blackboards high on the wall; there are a few small tables for eating in, and at least one table outside for nice weather. Staff was courteous and knowledgeable. We both selected the open-faced smoked salmon sandwich and a cookie and headed up to the winery. One bite and we were sold! I don't recall what the bread was, but it was grainy and tasty. Cream cheese was nicely flavored with fresh garlic and chives (I think) and complemented the smoked salmon perfectly. Fresh, homemade baked goods are local, but not theirs - cookies were yummy. Ben's will definitely be our go-to for a pick-up lunch on the way to the winery - as long as our schedules coincide! A nice addition to Chatham's several small restaurants.

We drove from Albany just to go here on Sunday and were surprised to see a hand written note taped to the door that said closed due to insufficient staff. I checked google and the website before we left and both confirmed you would be open. Now we run a business back in Albany and do you know what we do when we don't have insufficient staff?? We work. That's what owners do. Shame on you for at least not posting this change to your google listing, as you seem to be very proficient at the rest of your social media. I am so put off that I am not sure if I will go back to give it a try. BTW, none of the other businesses seemed to be having the same issue in town, certainly not Main Street Goodness that had ample staff. Thanks for nothing and thanks for wasting our hard earned gas money. Shame on you sir.

Far and away the best coffee in the county (and real cream for those so inclined), and the savories are delectably well crafted. Not inexpensive by any stretch, but worth making any weekend morning one of luxury.
