“We stopped in today on our way home to NJ from Lake George and we are so happy that we stopped. They had such a unique variety of products and we ended up walking out with some beautiful items. Anyone passing through should take the detour and browse.
The staff is also incredibly kind, and they support local artists and are actively trying to change their community for the better.”

“I love coming here to buy postcards and generally browse. The last few times I was there they did not have a working bathroom.Spending hours combing through dusty ephemera (which I love to do) and then not being able to wash my hands is a real disappointment. That being said, I love this place.”
“What a neat little shop! Port of call is pure nostalgia. A collector's paradise. No sitting through piles and racks at this little gem.
You'll find a big collection of vintage: model toy vehicles, fishing lures and equipment, Mason jars, records, bar signs, and kitchen wares. The owner obviously enjoys what he does and was a great help when I asked about fishing equipment.

“Lovely antique shop featuring vintage country and primitive finds. Perfectly curated items ranging from wooden cabinets, loose drawers, and small stools to kitchen tables, chairs, boxes, and gardening tools, cooking/baking spoons—and so much more! We called the proprietress to inquire about times and she opened just for us! She welcomes visitors to shop at odd hours (she opened for last minute shoppers on Christmas Eve), so be sure to call. The shop is expertly curated and has just the right amount of objects on view—not an overwhelming number of antiques for sale. Great place—and she is willing to bargain!”

“Several years ago, we inherited an art collection. The collection included over five hundred pieces of artwork from both Eastern European and American artists. (Including but not limited to oils, drawings, lithographs, engravings, and original inks.) Since the collection was not catalogued, we had no idea how to organize it, who some of the artists were and the overall value. We met with Mark Lawson, and he agreed to take on the task of researching the artist for each piece, organizing the collection, and eventually auctioning it for us. He was able to identify each piece and arrange an auction in less than 6 months.We were impressed by the professionalism and attention to detail that he and his staff exhibited. We were also pleased with the first auction in which a majority of the artwork was sold. Subsequently he arranged a second auction in which additional pieces were sold. Finally, with our approval donated the remainder of the artwork to a local charity.We would gladly recommend Mark Lawsons Antiques to anyone seeking appraisals or someone to sell items.”

“Metropolis is a bonafide vintage experience with pieces dating back to the early 20th century. I wore a circa 1910 wax flower crown from here for my wedding! The owner is extremely knowledgeable in fitting, styling, and fashion history which is super helpful when shopping. It’s like hunting for treasure with a professional guide. I’ve came away with hauls of 10+ items every time I shop here and always get compliments when I wear what I’ve gotten—same with my husband, brother, and father!
It seems like most of the negative reviews come from people who are afraid to chat with the owner and don’t respect the fact that the curated items are valuable and well-preserved from the last century. Vintage items aren’t made of stretchy polyester, people ?! People are so sensitive these days.”

“An absolutely amazing shop! Wonderful variety and well curated/ searchable. The books available are a very wide variety and excellent source of local histories as well. The prints, proofs, engravings and original manuscripts are an absolute treasure trove as well. A definite hidden gem of the Capital region. I'll certainly be back!
