Rude staff. I asked one time about a sign and was told very billigerently that 'they didn't have it' for the price I thought they did based on the sign. His tone was rude and unprofessional, I'm not sure who he was but I'm never buying from this vendor and I'm advising others not to. They don't care about their customers, potential, previous or current. Maybe you could practice a bit better customer service.

Easily the highest quality leather work I own. I have wallets belts and bags that are 20 years old that look better and better every year. Truly a master of his craft.

On Sept 6, 2014, I walked into Holy Cow Leather while at the Maryland Renaissance Faire. I needed a leather belt to go with a buckle I already owned. I bought a belt for $40 and asked the owner to punch another hole in it. I handed it to the owner repeating that I liked the way the belt fit, but his worker said that he could punch in an extra hole just in case. When the owner handed it back to me I discovered, he did not punch in an extra hole, instead he cut off several inches from the side that attached to the buckle (this is not what he was asked to do). It no longer fit the way I liked. I told him this wasn't what I asked for, but he didn't care. Do not try to argue with this man. You will get nowhere at best and at worst you will get physically hurt. He physically pushed me down the stairs. Hope the Maryland Renaissance Faire understands the liability they carry with this character.

Today I was at the Maryland Renaissance Festival and I purchased a leather belt from Holy Cow Leathersmithe and Russ Maxfield cut the belt too short. When I told him I wasn't happy with the length of the belt because it was too short, he started yelling at me( face all red and in an out-of-control condescending disrespectful tone), telling me that I agreed to the fit because he personally fitted me and he said he is the expert belt maker. He then went on to say that the belt will stretch out because it is leather and that I could come back next month if I still didn't like the way it fit. I told him I didn't want to wait for the belt to stretch out and that I lived an hour away and the Festival would be over. In the end , He would not give me a credit nor would he give me another belt that fit. BEWARE!! P.S. - Before I left the festival, I spoke to one of the owners of the Renaissance Festival and he said this was not the first complaint about Russ Maxfield Owner of Holy Cow Leathersmithe. He should not be able to sell anything. I also checked with the BBB and he is not a member.

Holy Cow is a very cool leather vendor with it's only outlet at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. Russ Maxfield is the leather craftsmen who makes and markets these cool product offerings. I've bought a couple of leather jerkins, a leather Cavalier hat, and a pair of leather bracers here.
