I switched over from a privately owned hair salon to Fantastic Sam’s in Colonie NY about 7 or 8 years ago.It was a huge change for me! They came highly recommended by a coworker of mine, and I was in desperate need of a change. I was extremely happy with my stylist and with the management. They run an extremely High-Quality salon with an amazingly professional atmosphere. The stylist’s listen to their clients rather than offering their personal suggestions for haircut and color. (not that it’s a bad thing if the client asks!)I did not find that at my previous salon.
I feel that my hair has never been as healthy or beautiful in my entire life! You pay a extremely reasonable price for outstanding services! I would highly recommend anyone looking for a change to try this salon.You will not be disappointed!

My mother and I have been coming here for years forl however yesterday when my special needs son was brought in The lady decided to take it upon herself to talk him into an extra treatment for his hair to grow faster and thicker when we were in there for a trim in the first place Not sure what's happening with the customer service here but something needs to be done

I appreciate the friendly, experienced, attention to detail I get everytime at fantastic Sams in Colonie, NY. I went this week and got highlights in my hair and it came out perfect. Best highlights I ever got. I recommend Steve for all your hair care needs.

I have been a client at the Fantastic Sams location in Colonie NY for over 10 years. I won’t go anywhere else.
Customers are greeted as they enter and staff are very welcoming and make me feel like I’m part of the family.
Stylists are friendly, professional and great at what they do. In my experience, they have always done an exceptional job.
(To prove my point: Today, after I checked out and was leaving, a woman told me how beautiful my cut looked (as compared to when I went in 🤭). I think that says it all.

This is my hair place! Super nice staff.
I always look forward to being greeted by Cheryl at the desk and catching up. There are many great people on staff at this location who are super sweet and do an amazing job on my hair.
Typically for me it is roots and a trim. I sometimes add in highlights.
I had tried a salon closer to my house. They fried my hair trying to give me highlights and my hair turned orange. I had to get it fixed… I walked into Fantastic Sam’s and Heather and Natalie consulted on how best to save my hair. I left there feeling very happy and grateful that they were able to fix my hair. They did an amazing job! I still see them when the opportunity presents itself.
I also regularly have service provided by other great stylists, like Emily and Marina, who also do a great job on my hair.
I am very appreciative of Cheryl and the staff at Fantastic Sam’s!

My wife and I have both been going to this Fantastic Sams location for over 20 years and we love it. The owner and many of the stylists have been there forever and it feels like a nice, homey experience. One of our daughters started getting her haircuts there and now still goes 20 years later for her cut/colors. They always try to accommodate me and to minimize my wait time. My haircuts are simple but it doesn't matter if I go to my usual stylist or another, I'm always happy with how the haircut looks!

Talented stylists; wonderful customer service, and plenty of attention given to customer needs. I have been a customer for many years and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. Emily is a wonderful stylist and offers advice on new products suited to my particular hair needs.

I was a walk in. I just needed my roots colored from some gray. About an inch needed to be touched up. I got a man stylist. I do not know his name. I am not all gray so we picked a color that matches the rest of my root and under color. I have brunette hair with light highlights. I watch this guy apply the dye, I notice that I think he is putting about 3 to 4 inches of dye not the 1inch 2 inches it should of been. In the front he was parting my hair and appling like he should but in the back he did not. He was just painting it on and not applying only on the root. I knew this didn't seem right. As he was drying and trimming my hair I asked him if he could flat iron it. He said it would be another $45 if I wanted that. I don't know if that is true or not. I think that if he flat ironed it, he knew I would have noticed how bad it really looked. He got a lot of dark hair dye on my face and ears. I asked him if he could please get it off. He went to a lady at the register to ask where the wipes were to remove the dye. I dont know what she said but I heard him defend the fact he asked. He walked around for a minute never asking another stlyist or anything. I noticed the other stylists did not say a word to him the whole time I was there. I found that wierd. So he put shampoo on a towel and scrubbed at my face which kinda hurt. I walked out with a lot of dye on my face. Looking back i realized he never asked me if I liked it, he never showed me the back of my head. I believe because he knew it looked awful. I have a very hard time complaining. I don't want to hurt anyone and I really debated even posting anything, but I spent yesterday crying (yes that how bad it looks.) Not blended, color is not what I wanted too dark and is uneven in color, some of my hair looks black. He also cut my hair uneven. On my way home I couldn't even stop for gas because it was really bad. He was nice enough. I feel bad posting this but I don't want another women to go through what I am. I do not have the money to fix it right now so now i have to endure. Every time I look at it tears well up. I am so upset that they would let me leave this place looking the way I did. It wasn't worth my $75.

Makes the haircut too rushed. Happened a few times now. In literally 5 minutes they wrap up the men’s haircut. No finishing touch, nothing. When I get back I see a few odd longer strands of hair hanging.

The most reasonably priced hair cutting salon in this area! Plenty of stylists and we were in and out in a jiffy! The hair cutting was not bad. It gets too crowded though.

My stylist did a good job with the layers in my hair however she ignored me multiple times when I asked for it to be cut shorter. My hair was also uneven in multiple places and my bangs were slanted. I felt as though she was rushing through the entire appointment and trying to get me in and out as quickly as possible.
