Usually when you walk into a business, they ask if you need help. Nope, not here. Guy at the front counter hit me with the head nod as I came in . Said not one word to me until I asked for help 5min later. I'll be shopping online for now on.

Store wasn’t very clean, very disorganized, not how guitar center use to look (to me). But I still find some of the best deals there. Have had my business my whole life. Got my squier Strat starter kit there and moved to what I have now.

We haven't been there in quite a while, but we went there to find a birthday present for our daughter. We found a beautiful acoustic guitar, great price! Highly recommend if you have aspiring musicians in your family.

They seem to know what they were talking about on the phone and they didn't have some things in stock that I wanted or other options to where I might be able to go to find other options. Overall a chain music shop some stuff is good priced and other stuff is not. Do your homework first..

Went in with my 6 year old son and zero knowledge of guitars. The enthusiasm of the employee (Vinny) was contagious and my little one walked out with his first electric guitar and accessories. He can’t wait to start his lessons.

GC pays 60% of what they’re going to sell used items for? Not Guitar Center on wolf rd. in Albany New York!!! I just brought in a Mackie Profx12v3 mix board to sell them because I bought a new board. The sales guy offered me $90 for mine!!! Then he said Guitar Centers system said $80. I said what? They’re selling used online and out of this Guitar Center (Wolf Rd. Albany New York) for like $300. He then said they’re selling used for around $140-$180. Then he offered me $100 and I accepted it, knowing I got taken. This location (Albany New York) is selling the same board, 3 of them for $275 used. So I was given maybe half of what Guitar says they’ll pay for used items. Also, I brought this board in with the box the board came in which was in great condition, and the power cord and usb and the user manual, basically looked brand new in its packaging.I am done at Guitar Center, especially the one on ((Wolf rd. in Albany New York)). I purchase most of my things from Sweet Water anyway. Their customer service can’t be competed with, especially from guitar center and they stand by their word. I never purchase things from Guitar Center anyways, just sell to them and they will always lowball you. I recently bought another guitar, an LTD Black Metal for like $1000.00, yeah bought it from Sweet Water because I trust them. If Guitar Center cared about their customers and stood by the things they say maybe I would’ve spent that $1000.00 with them.Next time I have something I want to sell quickly I’m going to “Parkway Music” in Clifton Park New York. I’ve sold things their in the past and they are better than Guitar Center, especially the GC on (Wolf rd. Albany New York)

The first employee I dealt with was entirely uninterested and seemed to not be interested in my business. Every other employee I spoke with was awesome and very easy to deal with and helps get me the gear I wanted. When I went to check out with a different employee the original one finally became interested and then asked to split the sale with the new employee I went to, which was just mind blowing to me. Every other staff member was awesome and super helpful.

It's sad that this place has gone so downhill... Part of the problem is the place is so understaffed and it's not the employees fault but the manager or whoever is running the store.. the other issue is when they do have employees, they aren't the most knowledgeable.. there are a couple who do know what they are talking about but they usually are way too busy to help... Most of the staff there aren't the most friendly. Too busy messing around. And most of the instruments there are out of tune and have some issues. For the price you pay for them, they should be up to par. However, if you have an issue with an instrument, they will let you return it, or they will cut you a deal. It depends on who is there though... I have tried selling a few things there, only to be ripped off. For example; I tried selling a very expensive and rare pedal (worth about 700 bucks), and the one employee and manager tried to hustle me and wanted to give me 200. I felt 400 bucks would've been more fair, as I understand they do this because that have to make a profit off of it. 300 bucks profit isn't enough? I even complained to the manager about it and he wouldn't budge on the deal. Fast forward to a couple weeks later, and I went back to try again. I was able to get the deal I wanted for it. It really depends on who is there. I guess the reason why they tried talking me down so low was because the manager was there. That is one hell of a greedy manager...This place really doesn't cater to the musician. Go to Parkway Music, Payette's Music Traders in Scotia or even the Burnt Hills Music

I rarely leave reviews but did feel the need to mention how well I was treated by the staff at the Guitar Center in Albany, NY. You see I am in a treatment center and have my guitar but needed some maintenance tools. Jake, Neil and Max all worked very well with me to get my items together and make some good decisions that I couldn’t make myself being that I cannot leave the treatment facility. I was able to prepay and have a friend that was visiting me pick up the items and drop them off. Thanks guys!
