The receptionist is very kind and welcoming. I absolutely loved the doctor. She seemed to know my cat's issue and recommended a treatment for him that wasn't too costly. It's not overly busy so I feel like they're not rushing through patience.

I wouldn't recommend this vet. They never seem to have availability within a month, so every time I have a problem with my dog I have to pay the $150 emergency fee. Any time I've asked if they have any other availability because that fee is not cheap they are so judgmental and rude. They took over a month to fulfill a chewy prescription request for me because they wanted to me purchase from them alone. Just not a very helpful office, just seem to care about getting your money.

I do not recommend this veterinary practice at all! They do not listen to pet owners and are very judgmental of questions and concerns. Most recently, my oldest dog was very sick. We had seen the doctor two times in the past month to try to diagnose a strange cough and some gastrointestinal issues. Not only were we charged an emergency fee, there was no real interest or concern shown by Dr. Estra or her staff. Our dog became very ill over MLK weekend, and we were not comfortable bringing her to the emergency vet, knowing there would be a long wait and our dog was very uncomfortable. Her sickness came to a peak on Monday of that long weekend, so I left a message at Canterbury asking to be seen as soon as possible on Monday. When I received the call back from the office, the receptionist Allison was very curt with me, berating me for not going to the clinic, stating " Now we don't know what is going on with her." Yet, we had her at the vet twice! In addition, she said, "IF I can get her in today there will be a $150 emergency fee." All they care about is getting their money. By the time we were seen that afternoon, my poor dog was in such pain and had uncontrollable bloody diarrhea. Only when we had to take her outside to relieve herself and the receptionist actually saw the feces, did we see the doctor. When Dr. Estra came in she told us that our dog needed bloodwork and x-rays, but she thought it best we go to the emergency clinic. She said she did not have enough people to give our dog an x-ray! To her credit, she did say we would get faster results that way, but she seemed like she wanted to rush us out of the door. In the end, Upstate Veterinary Specialties in Latham were compassionate and caring, seeing our sick family member immediately; our dog had been dying and they took the time and gave us the support we needed during a very difficult time. They made her final hours with us comfortable and loving. If you want a practice that actually cares about pets and their owners DO NOT go to Canterbury. I am so disappointed in their approach to care. I am just glad that I was only there for a year and I can get better care for my other dog.

This vet was abusive, rude and condescending to me on a phone call about my cat; she kept interrupting me and actually she was raising her voice to me. I told her I was not going to be treated in this manner and hung up on her.Apparently calling 3 times with ideas about changing my cat's diet pushed her and her (also not pleasant)receptionist over the edge.Obviously, I do not recommend this office.

I brought my cat here after 4 years of misdiagnosed sickness from three other vets. They immediately found the problem and ran the tests. Super good for emergency appointments cheapest around for a good vet. They also are super understanding of financial problems.

Great, thorough vet. They take as good care of my girls as my doctor does for me

While waiting to check out today with my cat, I witnessed a belligerent customer berating the staff member at the front desk. He did a great job attempting to handle this lady and stayed calm and professional. When the woman persisted in an escalated manner, the doctor came out and spent over five minutes trying to de-escalate her. Both the doctor and her front staff employee remained polite and still attempted to help the customer even though she continued to argue with everything they said and was extremely rude and loud. Kudos to them for handling this situation- I’m sure they must deal with people like this all the time. People like the staff at Canterbury deserve SO much better for the level of care they give to our furry friends. Thank you always for your top tier care!

The front desk reception was extremely friendly and the doctor is extremely friendly. Also, we have been going there for years. Wonderful wonderful place.

It's a nice facility, they have an excellent, if expensive, range of care, but... I think they don't really understand cats. At. All. They scared my cats half to death, and were dismissive of me.
