Bought pre-packaged lunch meat from the deli just last night. Made my son a sandwich for lunch today. There was some kind of cocoon in his sandwich. I am thoroughly disgusted. I agree with other reviews that some of the cashiers are lazy. Even when you have to check yourself out the person just stands there. One night I went there after work and spent over $250 on groceries. Had to cash myself out at 10pm. So when I get done working I guess I'm a cashier at Tops. The snotty cashier just stood there telling me to make sure I ring everything up. Stupid machine kept getting stuck and she needed to reset the machine. She just stood there leaning with her head resting on her hand. I asked her if she couldn't actually be a cashier could she assist me in being one? Yes I was a Karen but I don't work for Tops. It's ridiculous for 2nd shift workers to have to be a cashier and watch a good for nothing stand around doing exactly nothing. And then they act like you are bothering them because the machines are wacky. I won't buy pre- cut lunch meat anymore nor will I ever go there after work again no matter how bad I need groceries. I wish there were more stores in alden. I will go to save a lot and dollar general to avoid going to tops. But sometimes you just gave to go there. Ugh. Get it together Tops.

one of the better Tops in the area. Anytime I've been everything has been stocked on the shelves, store is clean, and the butcher section frequently has made in store sausages that are good. The buffalo chicken are definitely recommended.

I believe that this is one of the only (if not the only) franchise Tops still available. Their prices are different than all other tops locations and overall, it's managed much differently. You will not find a citizens bank in here. The prices are decent and the grocery store is clean. I've never had any issues while shopping here. As with any Tops, their sales are often great but prepare yourself if you need to get anything that isn't on sale, you will be paying higher than other stores. It evens itself out in the end. Make sure you bring your bonus card because that is the only way to get the sale prices!

It's funny how different a shopping experience can be based on the employees you encounter. I went to this Tops Market this morning, and a young lady near the bakery department was so friendly and helpful, going out of her way to get me exactly what I was looking for. I had that bewildered look on my face and she immediately asked me how she could help. Fantastic customer service by this young woman. But then, I went to the checkout...I approached the self-checkout area because one of the screens said "OPEN". I was immediately reprimanded by the clerk overseeing the area that, "WE'RE NOT OPEN"! And she wasn't friendly or nice about it. I responded simply by saying that I thought it was open because the screen said "OPEN", in an apologetic tone. She then responded again by saying "I'M NOT OPEN YET," in a tone that suggested that I was stupid for not knowing that SHE wasn't ready yet. The store was open. The checkout screen said, "OPEN", but I'm supposed to know her state of readiness. A woman with this attitude shouldn't be working with the public. Go get a job in a coal mine or somewhere you won't be bothered by helping anyone. I would've given this store a "1" rating, but I decided to be generous and recognize the young girl who had been so helpful. Needless to say, I'm changing my grocery shopping habits to anywhere else.

Just picked up a couple of fish fries from here. Not bad but it came with expired tarter sauce. Maybe you should check the expiration date before you serve it to people. Not a very good look for Tops. Maybe I'll try Wegmans next time. Bet I won't get anything expired there.

The nice thing about this Tops is that they normally have enough cashiers working to handle the shoppers. Many Tops locations fail in that department. Tops has always had a problem with snotty workers at most locations, but I have never had that problem at the D&L Plaza Tops. They have a pretty good produce section. The deli is OK if you buy something on sale, but expensive if not on sale. The bakery makes good muffins, everything else average. They often have good weekly sales on selected meats, but I've always found their steaks to be tough. Chicken is fine. They have some good choices for hamburger patties other than their own store brand. Good frozen food selection. Where Tops really falls flat, in my opinion, is the takeout and their pre-made sandwiches. The pizza is below gas station quality, other than their breakfast pizza which surprisingly is amazing. I've gone in looking for a quick sandwich or salad for lunch, and while they look OK, they are always a disappointment when you taste them. This is an area where Wegmans excels and Tops simply smells.

While I am mainly a Wegmans shopper due to their superior selections, Tops tends to have far better daily deals and discounts. They also offer Panera Bread brand products and I just love their soups. Especially their lobster bisque. I frequent the Broadway/Depew and Union Rd/Cheektowaga locations.

Store constantly has items on sale as a buy-one-get one and does not ring up as such. Tom and Lisa at customer service would rather chat with each other and then they treat customers like crap. He asked me 20 questions about what I bought which he could have answered by looking at receipt. Then he argued with me about it until I pulled the sign down from frozen. Then said he needs to see the product. Jon, the manager stuck up for him. I will not shop there again.

This is one of my favorite Tops locations! They did a great job renovating and I love how it is geared towards supporting the local Lancaster-Depew community. While at the register, look up at the wallpaper. It's photos of historic places around Lancaster and Depew. Cashiers are nice here too. Around the holidays, they had musicians from the high schools come in and play music. Bathrooms are well maintained. What I love most about this Tops is the produce and organic sections. Produce section is well taken care of, you will not see any rotting produce out here, plus they often run BOGO free produce deals. At least for what I buy, a lot of their produce prices seem on par with their competitor's, sometimes better when they have items on sale. Their organic/natural section is decent sized but not the largest compared to other Tops (the Transit and French location has coolers in their organic section, this location does not). However the organic section is well maintained and carries a lot of natural snack brands that I've never seen anywhere else. Prices on snacks are good too. My only complaint is that some brands in this area, I question how "natural" they are (when I see ingredients like xantham gum, and other preservatives) - specifically in some of the salsas. If you're looking for natural meats, they're spread out throughout the store. By the butcher section there is a small case that has natural and organic meats in it. You can find Applegate brand deli meats and other natural cheeses in the cheese cases near the deli. One negative for most Tops I've visited (not just this one) is to check the dates. Especially in clearance section, there are products with a "best by" date that will be months old. All in all, this is a clean and mostly well-organized Tops. It's definitely my preferred Tops location of the 3 in Depew.

I stopped in to buy roast beef, costanzo rolls, and some other random things. I got home and started to heat up the au jus when I realized the costanzo rolls had mold on them. I drove all the way back to the store and spoke to two women at the customer service desk. I was stuck waiting for one of the women to get a hold of a grocery employee, when she finally did I was then stuck waiting for that employee to find more of the rolls since there were no more of them on the shelf. After all this, the woman at customer service insisted all they could do was replace the rolls. They were not willing to compensate me for the time it took to drive back to the store, the gas it took to drive back, the time I spent waiting in the store, or the frustration from the situation. Heres the best part, this is the second time this has happened at this store. Another time in the past, I got home to realize the garlic I just bought was covered in mold. I would not recommend shopping at this location. There is a Wegmans down the road that is well worth the extra couple miles of driving distance. Tops lost a customer today, never again will I go there.

I came here looking for tops, but they only had jeans and pants. So for all of you out there that are tops, or bottoms, here me now: I used this Tops a couple of times, most recently about a month ago looking for some Bananas and Hair Conditioner. They actually had no green bananas (my fave) and the conditioner was more expensive than I expected. Definitely not my fave store. However the employees were nice so it gets 2 instead of 1. Wegmans is better. Lol. So much better, in fact, that this Tops isn't even on the Yelp radar yet. I've only been here twice, and one of those times they didn't even have what I needed (some green-ish bananas). Tops is overpriced anyway, and I prefer Wegmans on every level. The only things this store has going for it are: it's open late, and it's clean and shiny and new.
