We have been going to Covewood for years and has become a family tradition. The rustic charm, the beauty of Big Moose Lake, the loons singing at night and early morning make it a very special place. Great hiking, swimming, near by mountains to climb just add to the draw of Covewood!

We had our wedding at Covewood this year, and it was perfect. The staff was so attentive and helped significantly with planning. There was enough room for all of our guests to stay on site. We hardly needed any decorations because it is beautiful inside and out. Highly recommend Covewood as a place for respite or a woodsy wedding!

A beautiful, rustic Adirondack resort with a lodge and several cottages that sprawls a cove of Big Moose Lake. Activities for all ages include: multiple docks (for swimming off or just lounging); boat, kayak, SUP, and canoe rentals; waterski lessons; a kiddie beach; a large shared fire pit area; multiple trails ranging in length and difficulty; a tennis court, playing field, and small playground area; pool and ping pong in the lodge; and a flourishing children’s program with morning and afternoon activities planned Monday-Friday.Cabins range in size and age, from a honeymoon cabin for 2, to larger houses for groups of up to 10. Some are original to the property (with tasteful updates to kitchens and bathrooms), and others more modern (ask when booking if you have a preference!). None have TVs or internet… but you won’t miss them! The lodge also has several rooms and multiple room units for rent. I most recently stayed in Henry Covey, a traditional 2 story house that holds 7 and faces the lake, and Raccoon, a 2-room 1 level house that was thoroughly updated in 2019 and holds 4 comfortably.Covewood is a breathtakingly beautiful and serene landscape, with a sense of community that ties you to coming back year after year. Highly recommend for nature lovers of all ages.

Covewood Lodge is situated on Big Moose Lake and is about 20 min drive from Old Forge town. The cabins are clean, neat and are catered with all necessary utensils for a comfortable stay. They also offer boats for rent, ski trips, ski lessons and different children activities during the day. We had an amazing stay and will definitely be back

We had another amazing annual family trip to Covewood. Their new wifi options in the cabins make working remotely possible when you have to. Wifi access aside, the focus continues to be about disconnecting and spending time with family.

My family has been visiting Covewood Lodge on Big Moose Lake since the early 1970's. The owners obviously love the place, and that translates into a wonderful experience! It doesn't hurt that the scenery is beyond beautiful, the location is convenient to other mountain attractions, there is family fun for children and adults, and the accomodations provide clean, well equipped lodging. Over the years, we have stayed at Bayside, Boat House, Outlet, Forest, Hill, Earl Covey, Raccoon, the apartments and the rooms in the Lodge - each offering their own charms.

I just got home yesterday and I hope that some year I can go back. Everything was perfect. I stayed in the main lodge. Rustic looking. Nice room overlooking the lake. My only disappointment was I didn't see Grace Brown.

Beyond the beautiful lake view, my stay at Covewood was disturbingly disappointing and alarming that an establishment can operate in such a manner. The Lakeside cabin was infested with mice and chipmunks which we as GUESTS, had to take care of -- purchasing and re-setting traps while discarding of the rodents daily. There was a child with our family which made this issue even more concerning (Rodents = RABIES). Covewood claimed they had set traps prior to our arrival but it was clear that was absolutely not the case.In addition to the horrific experience with rodents, there were gaps under doors and in nearly every window, allowing the chipmunk and insects inside, and likely serving as the entrance point for said rodents.The staff did not replenish the cabin wood pile which left us without ample firewood to stay warm on the coldest night of the week.Lastly, the cabin itself was dirty and was certainly not [deep] cleaned prior to our arrival. There were leftover coffee grinds sitting in the coffee maker from the prior guests, the microwave clearly had not been cleaned in ages, and the list goes on.0 out of 10 - would NOT recommend.
