It's hard to believe there's a farm in East Meadow. I believe it's a 4H project. Locally grown veggies supporting a good cause.

This little nook in the cranny is really a nice place to visit. Thing is many locals are not always aware that it is there. It is the home of Cornell Cooperative Extension Nassau and has an interesting history over ownership in years past: ccenassau.org is the gardeners place to go. You can find out what might be eating your plants, check your soil levels, get advice on what to plant and when, learn about pollinators and see close up pictures from Carl the Beekeeper. This gem is a great place to just come and relax and see the beautiful flowers in bloom, Dahlias, Roses and even an amazing Gold Metal Arboretum on premise. The main building sorta is designed like a barn and outside there is a fresh Farm Stand run with various hours selling goods from the Vegetable garden on premise and items brought from out east at from the farm in Riverhead. Yesterday was their Annual Family Fun Day. Lots of families came to visit. The word was well advertised. You couldn't go wrong here with dedicated and passionate Master Gardeners and crews volunteering along with diligent workers and the Chair Joann Zenowitz, who each year has worked with everyone to make this day a success and better and better. This year there were 12 committees with a full range of activities for the children. There even was a soft open the hour before for those with special needs. The arboretum was a gnome fairyland with a wishing tree and a worry tree. The children's play area seemed quite busy; the kids even got to pick their own vegetables in the Vegetable garden and do crafts making their own butterfly at the Pollinators garden or taking home a box they designed with a trinket or a specially painted rock to put inside. There was music, food and animals; including a goat and a guinea pig and lots of things to by at Granny's attic. All in all, from 10-4 it was a long successful and yes, Fun Day for all.

I joined the community garden 2 years ago. Love that I can have extra space to plant my vegetables. Other Gardeners are very nice, and you can get advice from them as well if you are new to gardening. All organic .

It was great to finally come down here and check out the great things they're doing at the farm. It gave me some ideas to try for my own backyard garden.
