I had multiple policies here, 3 vehicles as well as my homeowners insurance that was always paid. I’ve never had to make a claim in my life, but had a stroke of bad luck over a 2 year period. In 21 months I hit a cat, hit a deer and needed a new windshield because mine had a crack that failed NYS inspection. So I made 3 total comp claims over a 21 month period, never another vehicle involved, no tickets on my record etc (im a 28yo male). I was then informed that my insurance policy was being denied renewal due to excessive claims and loss. My first comp claim was a new front bumper ($5,000), second was a bumper, fender, headlight and trans cooler from the deer ($11,000) and the last was the windshield which was about $500. So the policy that I paid for, canceled me due to <$20,000 on a brand new $40,000 car. My first claims EVER on any vehicle or any policy, with a completely clean driving record. I was already frustrated and tried calling MULTIPLE times and could get no help or explanations. I was told people would call me and they never did.NOW I was just informed that my Homeowners Insurance that was paid out until July has had a premium adjustment.. guess what for? I lost my multi policy discount for the THREE autos they refused to renew due to COMP claims. So now they say I owe them $200 to keep my policy active until July for a backhanded change that they forced me into. Super disappointed, insurance is a for profit industry and they act like they are there to help you, but the bottom line is their profit. They do not care about you or your well being and will gouge you for every single penny. My annual premium is also $700 cheaper with progressive, so hats off to you NYCM, you provide exceptionally poor service at an exceptionally inflated price point. My NYCM homeowners policy will be canceled as of tomorrow morning and I would chew glass before I ever recommended a friend or family member to do business with them again. Congrats, you tried to charge me $200 additional and had to refund me triple that, figure that into your losses for 2024.

I wish I never switch my insurance to NYCM. I am an auto policyholder who got in a minor accident and filed a claim. So far they have been incredibly difficult and slow in resolving my claim and getting my vehicle fixed. It’s been 2 weeks and nothing has gotten done even though an estimate was written 2 weeks ago. They are continuing to try and find ways to minimize their payout of this claim at the expense of my time and energy. Their communication is extremely poor. It is nearly impossible to get a hold of a claims rep. They have promised call backs day after day with no follow through. I’m sick of hearing apologies. I just want this claim resolved so I can move on with my life. Definitely the most difficult insurance company I have had experience with. To anyone considering a move to NYCM I highly suggest you think twice and read the other reviews. Saving a few bucks was definitely not worth the unnecessary headache and stress. I hope others can learn from my mistake.

A Month ago one of your policy holders crashed in to the side of my car. They are at fault. We have tried calling several times and been on hold for nearly an hour each time. Our insurance company has tried calling and can not get anyone on the phone. This is ridiculous. Based on other reviews this is seems to be a common problem.UpdateOn 01/13/2024 I was driving in the far right lane. I was coming up to a traffic light and it was red. I started slowing down. Light turned green so I continued through the light. There was a car in the middle lane. As I went through the intersection the car in the middle lane turned right and crashed in to the side of my vehicle. I pull over to the side of the road. Car that hit me pulls over in front of me. The guy gets asked if we were ok. Then started apologizing. He and his passenger were ok. So pulled over in to a parking lot. Callled Highway patrol. City of Myrtle Beach police came and worked the crash. Other driver admitted fault to the officer. No tickets were issued. Next day we contact our insurance. February 9th we finally get a call back from the other drivers insurance. February 13th they send an adjuster. Same day my wife gets a call from their insurance agent. Agent states their policy holder is saying I pulled out from a gas station and hit their car. Front right corner of their car is damaged. The driver side doors of my vehicle are damaged right were the doors meet each other. When I got off work I contacted their insurance. Their agent states they never even filled a claim after the accident. If I was truly at fault you would think they would contact their insurance. According the police officer we had to notify the dmv within 15 days. Appears they failed to do so. I tried to get the full accident report from the dmv and it’s still not available after a month.17th Ave N & US-17 BUS Myrtle Beach SC 29579 is where the accident happened. The person who hit me insurance company is NYCM insurance based on google reviews and my experience they give people the run around when their drivers are at faultNYCM insurance don’t bother copying and pasting your generic apology.

Horriable experience with this insurance company. Their driver was at fault for an accident with myself. This insurance company has done nothing but take advantage of me and drag out the claim as long as they could. They are extremly challenging to get ahold of. You sit on hold for almost 40 minutes before they pick up. I never get the same person. I had to explain my claim to at least 20 representatives. My experience dealing with them has been the worst .My accident happened October 8th . Still to this day it has not been made fair and I am loosing money out of the claim everyday I am going to be seeking an attorney

Got a great quote in the beginning but when going online to pay it was horrible. Kept telling me my policy number was wrong which I didn’t understand since it was through the website. Waited to speak to someone for hours till I finally hung up. That happened for 2 days. Then it was telling me they couldn’t except my payment because the number on my card was wrong. I finally got someone on the phone after hours and they told me they didn’t take my payment because it got canceled!! You think they would be able to tell how many times I longed on trying to make a payment through the website but no cancelled and left me hanging. Horrible experience!! Don’t recommend

I recently had an issue with a hit and run. I called and made a claim and then had to call with follow up questions. Everyone I have dealt with has been incredibly kind and helpful. The process was made simple and I couldn’t be happier with the service I received. Thank you!

I really wanted to luv ❤️ this company but unfortunately I didn't have them long enough to find out. Something happened with the processing of my homeowners premium and I wasn't made aware by my agent. I didn't find out until I received a cancelation notice from the company. When I called the agent, she said, "Let me check your account". That's when she said they canceled your policy for non payment, dugh, I told her that. I'm thinking, shouldn't you have notified me well before? ? What's the point ?? of an agent if they're not going to keep you abreast of the happenings of your policy? Not to mention, the insurance inspector was just at my house last week taking photos for the company. I just got this policy in August of this year. Shame I have to look elsewhere as she said company won't take me back. Customer/Agent service lacking, slow on the uptake. And I was thinking of bundling car insurance too. So sad. ☹️

Horrible customer service. I have been NYCM insured for more than 10 years. They used to provide good customer service. Now their customer service is the worst that I have experienced in 30 years, I have been dealing with insurance companies. I will be switching to another insurance company.

Honestly impressed with customer service. Cancelling policies took <5 minutes via online chat and answer questions about refunding again <5 minutes.Although your rates are exorbitant (up 45%) from my last year premiums with no tickets or accidents. You have good customer service, which is the face of your business. Good job on that front!

UPDATE: google does not allow you to respond to replies on reviews for some reason. I do want to reply that, yes, we have always understood the policy to pay back the loan since my husband was unable to stay for three years. The issue is that the company was unwilling to work with us to negotiate more reasonable payment terms. Especially a company that puts pride in being “family-centered.” The company allowed us to lower our payment through the end of the year, but demands $500 a month at the start of the new year. The only reason my husband signed that agreement was because the company (that brings in a revenue of 473 million) made it clear that if we didn’t agree to their terms, they would follow through with a lawsuit. We didn’t want to make a bad financial situation even worse. Just an overall horrible way to treat a former employee of 10+ years.Honestly disgusted with the way this company treated my husband after he served them for over 10 years. While working with NYCM, my husband always felt that he was respected and apart of a company that had a family mentality. When he relocated to another city two hours away to be closer to his family, he desperately tried to stay with the company and work out a way to somehow work in a hybrid model. The company did state that they wanted all employees to return to work at the main campus, which we understood. My husband had no other choice but to quit and find a new job.NYCM did provide my husband with an MBA under terms that if he left the company within 3-5 years of completing the masters, he was required to pay them back for the full amount. We were fully aware of this, and planned to pay the amount back by negotiating fair payment terms. Pretty soon after ending employment, NYCM demanded that my husband pay $1000 a month towards his MBA. Seeing as we are recovering from a pandemic and economic crisis, my husband tried to work out payment terms that would not hurt the family to bad financially. The company gave him a very hard time with payment terms and even threatened to take my husband to court if we could not resolve or agree to their still unreasonable negotiated price ($500 per month). What’s even worse is that one of my husbands former coworkers shared with us that when he left the company, the company gave him no issue in negotiating a $100 monthly payment. After over 10 years of service to this “family oriented” company, my husband has been treated so poorly. Our family now will have to struggle to pay off this debt as we are already drowning like most middle class Americans.

If their insured policyholder recently hit your vehicle: brace yourself because it is about to be the worst time of your life trying to work with these people.Save all your chat history and noting dates and times of any interactions you have had with their claims AND adjuster because they will say and do just about anything to avoid paying you fairly. They claim that they inform you of their policies on a letter that you would never receive and no claims representative or adjuster would bother bringing it up. Be sure to bring up any details that contradict what they try to tell you that is their "policy"Insanely disgusting behavior and I would stay away from this insurance company at all costs - look at the way they respond to bad reviews and sharing your information out there. That should have been your first sign to avoid this company.

Recently I was involved in my first accident after 40+ years of driving. My car was hit on the right side while in a left turn lane by a driver who cut through two lanes before hitting me. Of course, being in an accident and dealing with the aftermath is stressful. NYCM was there for me from day one. I am an over thinker and made many calls to NYCM with questions that came to mind over a relatively long period of time. I spoke to a number of Customer Service reps. Each were extremely professional, knowledgeable, and, empathic. Each provided me answers to the questions I had while never putting me on hold...meaning they knew the answers without any research. The stressful process from reporting the accident, car rentals, status updates, estimates, and payments went more smoothly than I could imagine. Even my deductible was recovered in a very timely manner. Needless to say...I'm very happy with the support I received and the final result. I highly recommend NYCM.

Soulless insurance company. 2 days late on car insurance premium due to lingering financial challenges of Covid related business closing. Offered 2 payments as good faith until settled into new employment. Gap in car insurance is financial catastrophe for me, they could care less. Run away....(:Update8.2.23After posting this complaint, I was contacted by NYCM's customer service department directly (email and phone calls)Although the situation was resolved with my car insurance reinstated, I was required to pay the balance of my yearly payments (6 months & $1013). This is a tremendous financial burden on me and a tough outcome as a single payment ($189) was a challenge. Finally, to complete this episode, and to be fair, everyone I dealt with at NYCM has been pleasant and professional. I felt the customer service staff was legitimately trying to help me (although the underwriting staff was difficult). I am happy to remain an NYCM customer as their car insurance cost is reasonable and service has been good (including a good website)This complaint should be considered withdrawn and/or resolved satisfactorily.
