I got my P2 out west. I returned to NY and found this location as I wanted to continue paragliding. I went down there and spoke to the owner. He told me there wasn’t any paragliding here. And the only people who tried, ended up in a tree. He wanted me to take his hang gliding course. (He probably just wanted my money for his course) It is funny that now I see paragliders flying there as I pass by. I still will not give my money to use this park. The owner was very condescending. He should be more welcoming if he wants people to be returning customers.

Safety is the number one concern. Ellenville is a hard place to learn and that makes for some great pilots. Learning hang gliding is not an easy task it is hard, but the reward is amazing! Any constructive criticism you receive here is in your best interest for your safety. Thank you Greg for your instruction!

Greg Black is a very mean instructor. He berates and yells at everyone who comes through his business; customers and staff. He verbally abused me countless times just because I asked for help putting my glider together. On top of that every time you make a mistake while training he continues to put you down in front of the other students. Greg has two training hills available. The first one is very small you won't learn much from it except during the early stages of training. He has a second bigger one but will refuse to let you train on it except for one time before your mountain flight because he's too cheap to take the time you bring you out there for regular traning. Because of this you can only learn so much from the small hill and it delays your training significantly. I highly recommend not going to this school because of the verbal abuse and his training methods. If you want a good school to go to try Randall Airport in MIddletown NY. They have scooter towing where you will get a significant more amount of air time on your training flights, you will learn much faster and enjoy it more.

Be very careful; make sure you read the fine print and the yelp and google reviews. If you decide to sign up understand that you are prepaying for everything which means that if you decide you don't like his "training methods" then this isn't the place for you. Greg does not have any money to pay his workers, let alone retire. He'll say he's open thurs through monday, but if there aren't enough students willing to come out he won't be able to pay his instructors for that day. Which means he is not honoring his side of the deal for when you prepaid. On top of that he is not very helpful at all. He has a real attitude and if you have trouble putting your hanglider together and gosh forbid it takes you a little longer to learn than others he will jump down your throat for asking a question. He brags that he has two perfectly good training hills but is only willing to use the better one with you once during your training. So if you are ready to progress to more height, but not ready for the mountain yet he will make you stay on the 50 foot hill because he does not have the time or money for it.Greg is on the verge of going bankrupt, and don't think for a second you will get any refund if that happens.

Great experience. My girlfriend and I loved it. She was hesitant about the idea at first but when she got there she liked how the training went gradually enough to make her feel confident and safe, and she ended up flying a couple times off the training hill!

I learned to fly years ago with Mountain Wings. It's a great and this is a great place to learn. Greg Black is a wonderful guy and superb instructor. If there's any feeling of harshness involved in the training it's because of one very good reason, your safety. Whenever you're moving in 3 dimensions you have to be extra careful and observant and Greg's got a life time of experience to share so listen up! Sometime the weather just won't cooperate, but when it does.. you're in for the time of your life! Mountain Wings and Greg took me from 1st day all the way through my mountain flights and was always realistic but encouraging. So for a day or a lifetime it's a fantastic spot.

This place is AMAZING! I tried hang-glider for the first time at Mountain Wings and the instructors couldn't make me feel more at ease, safe and relaxed. Robert was leading the introduction class and his energy, patience and charisma made everyone have a great time learning how to fly. I highly recommend it.

The best experience I ever had! I went 3 times already and I'm suprized for all the bad reviews greg black is actually a cool guy and for thoes that think he's a jerk or mean eather your wrong or he changed. Now about the place its so cool. You start your first day by watching a short film then you go on the simulator then you start on flat ground. When you learn to trust the glider (it flies it's self keep a light grip not a tight grip if you do it pulls the glider down and you won't get air time.) Then you work your way up the training hill depends how good you get. This is the school I totally recommend if you want to go hang gliding.

This was one of the best experiences I've had in my life... Hands down. My buddy and I grabbed a Zipcar for the day and got out of the city. We had a great time. The instructors are really cool, the vibe is really chill although the focus is still safety. I was in a group of 4 so I had tons of opportunities to take a stab and launching off of their training hill. Defiantly hooked. Definitely coming back with more friends. Robert is an experienced teacher and really cool. You'll feel really encouraged by the end of the day.
