Horrible rodent infestation in the lockers. Had my items here for 3 months and mice absolutely destroyed a few very expensive area rugs. It’s absolutely disgusting. Avoid this location.

They were supposed to install a hitch on my dads vehicle. They put the wiring harness on, but they did not manage to install the hitch because they were careless and they snapped the bolts in the frame while trying to put the hitch on, and they are claiming they cannot fix it. They apparently dont have the correct tools to do the job. My dad offered to buy them the needed tools and new bolts...whatever it would take to fix the problem. Despite that they refuse to fix the problem they caused. They do not take care of their customers at all! If you mess up someone's vehicle, you should at the very least be willing to fix it! Overall their customer service is terrible. They wanted to fully charge him for the job even though they broke stuff and will not fix it, how the hell is that even right? They wont even take their stuff back! Now he's going to have to find someone to fix their mess. Seriously, If you need a hitch put on your vehicle, go elsewhere and save yourself the headache.

WORST experience ever!! I would give them 0 stars if I could.The truck I received was in poor condition, with excessive mileage and a broken air conditioner. I've already arranged for two guys to assist me with the relocation, so I don't have time to go back and deal with them.I will NEVER use U-Haul again from this location!!

Double booked a trailer we where rentingTried making us pay 5 more dollars for a trailer with a ramp (we didn’t need) .. just to find out when we hooked it up it was completely brokenTold us to go to Ithaca with a smirk on their facesThen tried charging me for 4 days instead of 1 dayThis location is a joke and needs to be shut down

customer service is awful. every time i go in there, the gentlemen that puts his hair in a man bun is very disrespectful and full of nothing but attitude. i don’t write reviews normally but the disrespect is insane to me. i’ve worked in customer service for years and never once would i act the way he did towards me. much needed improvement all around. i will not be coming back to this uhaul as i won’t put up with awful customer service.

This business doesn't deserve even 1 star! I have made my 3rd & last attempt to have a propane tank filled at this business. 2 previous attempts failed because of false claims that the tank I had was not legal to fill. I had that checked into with 2 resources, 1 of them being NYS, and it was not true. I will likely never use Uhaul for any purpose what so ever, not even air in a flat tire! Today I stopped at the location to have 2 lp tanks filled. I checked that the location was open before I drove there. The return equipment area garage door was open, there was activity, they were open. After 10 minutes of waiting in the location that I had been previously instructed to park in, no one came out. I went to the return equipment employee only door to look for a service button etc? None found. No problem. I looked thru the door and seen an employee, I waved to him. He walked toward the door I was at, stopped 10 feet away. He motioned for me to go to the front door by "walking fingers" gesture. I pointed to my Military Veteran hat & motioned no can't do that. 3 times he stood there scowling at me, repeating the gesture. Finally he came to door & opened it with the dirties look I can even remember. I stated I am disabled & walking all the way around the door was not an option for me. He continued with the dirty scowl. I said I needed propane tanks filled, he scowled. Finally, I said to I'd go to Tractor supply. He continued to scowl. I was pretty upset. I DID NOT GIVE ANY REASON for this behavior. I did express my intent to contact Uhaul & advise them of the absolute disregard for disabled people, especially those that have served this country and consumer access. A violation of ACA. I called Uhaul from the parking lot, made my report, was advised that someone could possibly call me. So, not only do I join the others that have taken the time to file my review, I will be sharing my experience, assist in EVERY way possible to present actual experience with this business. Being disabled, I have time to make it a campaign. Before you do business there, ask around in local retail shops. Their reputation is a minus 5, and #1 complaint is customer service. #2 is over charging bogus return charges. Go Elsewhere! So there you go UHAUL. That is my honest review

They will charge you every fee they can think of without justification and then threaten you with never renting again if you don’t pay a ridiculous cleaning fee when there was no mess.

They deserve 0 stars. This is the worst Uhaul location I've ever dealt with. They are never around and are crooks. They assessed a cleaning fee on a van I rented for animal hair when I never had an animal in there. They assessed every fee they could make up just to charge me well over in fees what I actually paid for the rental. a $300 rental turned into a $630 rental. this seems like bad business practice. Do not go here they will screw you and give you crappy service! I am a 50 year old woman who does not smoke or have a pet... I moved minimal furniture... how could it possibly require a $250 cleaning fee. it's crooked. Beware! Go to a different location!! Never had an issues anywhere else.

Customer service here was truly terrible. We canceled our order online—and received confirmation email from Uhaul saying we did so successfully—and were still charged $50 “no-show” fee. When we called to clear up situation, figuring wires simply got crossed, the gentleman at Elmira store was rude and condescending and even hung up on us after blaming us for not *also* showing up at the store to confirm cancelation, despite having never been told to do so. Uhaul corporate has been informed and is being very helpful, but avoid the Elmira service center at all costs.

on August 11th I made an appointment online to have a trailer hitch installed. Got an email confirmation saying my appointment was the 20th at 9am and I was going to wait for my car while they did the install. I also got a text message confirming so the same day. I arrived at the location on the 20th at 8:45, after standing in line for about 35 minutes i was told I didn't have an appointment that day. I opened the text message to see that my appointment had been moved to the 27th with no notice sent to me. I had driven an hour and a half for nothing. I arrive about 10 minutes early on the 27th with no wait in line and was told my car would be done by the end of the day, I explained I was waiting for it because my appointment was at 9am. They told me I would have to wait until after the person before me. I waited about 20 minutes until they took my car in and they were done in about 45 minutes, so once they got the car in, it was actually a quick install and it seems to be done correctly. I went out to my car to leave and had to reassemble the cargo area and put the spare tire back into it's well, they needed to move it to install the wiring, but never moved anything back. I witnessed a couple other unhappy customers while I was there both times, so I would say only go here if you have no other option. I work in a customer service business, and expect the same level of service be given to me as I give my customers. There is no Customer Service at this Location.

Terrible in every way. The staff is a joke. I booked a week early and confirmed. Get there and no truck and trailer. It really screwed me and they couldn’t have cared less. They actually said it wasn’t their fault.

I reserved a U-haul van on-line, and got confirmation via email it was accepted. When I went to pick it up, I was told it was not available. The best they could do was get me another van two days later, and it would be at another location, 20+ miles away. They did offer me another larger vehicle sooner, but this would not have worked out, for a number of reasons. They did try to call earlier in the day, but did not leave a message.Bottom line - The website should not let me book a vehicle that is not available. This should not have happened. It significantly altered my plans. And the rep had the gaul to tell me if I don't call and cancel the reservation that they moved me to, I would be charged a cancellation fee. (Sure, for someone that didn't have their reservation messed with, i get it. For me, given the circumstances, it showed how disconnected with reality they really are)Penske is a much better experience. Although it is pricey, you get what you pay for. With U-haul, maybe you get what you paid for. I was late, got a headache, and got a real bad taste in my mouth.Renter BEWARE!!

My husband and I moved literally across the country and used a ubox for our trip... like they advertise. We reserved a pick up truck and trailer with the box on it to take back to out new home and unload. We had this reservation for over 2 weeks and when we called the night before to confirm a pick up time my husband was told there would not be a trailer for us to put the box on. After letting me know, my husband was never able to speak to someone at the store even though they were open and once routed to their corporate office we were told that everything was fine and that we would be able to keep the reservation. That was not the case. When we arrived we were told again there was not a trailer and the only option is to get a different type of trailer and pay an additional 50 dollars.... we had to unload our box at the uhaul location into a separate trailer and then had to unload it again when we got to our place.The customer service was very "sorry about your luck" and honestly 2 times the work, and 50 bucks more.The man who works there explained its up to the local dealers to manage scheduling, so this oversight falls directly on them.

Good experience with my hitch install. They had to order it for me and when it came in they installed it with electric brake controller. Haven’t tried it out yet but I’m pleased with the experience. Friendly knowledgeable folks in my experience.
