“From start to finish, my visit at Nassau Suffolk was wonderful. A completely different experience from my last vet. From booking the appointment with the front desk (I believe her name was Renee being particularly friendly and helpful), to checking in and having an appointment with Dr. Tanaka who took her time and was super patient with my dog. The vet assistant Kim was one of the nicest people I’d ever met in all the years I’ve had pets, super sweet and took the time to explain how the appointment would go, even giving my nervous baby a treat! While they are definitely not the cheapest vet, Katie at the front desk was so thoughtful and took her time going over different options. Not only was she incredibly informative, but she was so friendly, it was shocking given how my previous vet’s office used to be. If she could teach everyone how to provide customer service the world would be a better place! Given the time and care Dr. Tanaka put into the exam and explanations, I would say it was worth more than a cheap 5-minute exam you can get somewhere else. You can tell the staff is there because they truly love animals.

I was lucky enough to speak with Katie again when she called to check on my baby the day after! The staff as a whole has been nothing but kind and educational. I got a call two days after to go over lab work, where again Dr. Tanaka made sure my boy was doing fine and explained what the different values meant. I cannot say that this is a low-cost vet, but I can say that the staff has been nothing but kind, compassionate, knowledgeable, and above all, treated me like a dog mom, not as a customer. I would highly recommend giving them a try if you are looking for a new vet!”

“Mid Island Animal Hospital is a Veterinary practice and hospital that goes above and beyond. I wanted to share this experience so others, who love their animals, would know about how wonderful the care is at Mid Island Animal Hospital. I have been taking my golden retriever puppy there since she was 12 weeks old. Recently, my 17 month old dog stopped eating and was just sleeping all day which was not like her at all. I thought maybe she had a stomach parasite or some other simple issue. We were taken that same day and seen by Dr. Stephanie Acevedo. Dr. Acevedo was extremely professional, knowledgeable, patient, kind, and compassionate. She understood we were in shock and upset with the test results and she took the time to explain everything several times. She never rushed us out or made us feel bad about asking so many questions. She was so knowledgeable and compassionate. She was just great with my dog. The dog required emergency surgery and Dr. Acevedo arranged everything with the surgeon so that the procedure went smoothly. She guided and helped us through this difficult and stressful time. Thank God that the surgery was a success and my girl will be just fine. Huge thank you to Dr. Acevedo for saving my girl. I must also add that the Vet techs and front office personnel are just amazing. They treat both pets and families with kindness and respect. From beginning to end, this practice takes care of and goes above and beyond for their patients. Your family is in good hands at Mid Island Animal Hospital. “We find it quite challenging to adequately describe how grateful we are that Dr. Kleminger and staff, in particular Vet Tech Sydney took care of our geriatric cat Cassius. Cassius was two months old when he first saw Dr. Kleminger and he lived to the ripe old age of 19 largely in part to the exceptional care, guidance and love we received at Companions. Cassius was a strong, fighter who endured, multiple medical emergencies where we thought he might die. All through these crisis Dr. Kleminger and Sydney were there for us. We had to administer fluids and medications at home which Sydney came to our house to teach us every week for months until we learned to do it ourselves. Cassius hated the carrier, and going to the vet, however, he immediately calmed down when Dr. Kleminger would pet him and talk to him. He would fall right asleep when Sydney would hold him on his back like a baby. It was absolutely magical. We love all of the staff at Companions. The front desk staff are loving and compassionate. “I recently took my cat to Animal General of East Norwich after a really stressful experience at another vet, where I was immediately told she needed surgery. They also took my cat into the back, and I sat there for six hours without seeing her once, which made the whole situation even more stressful. My cat is 15 years old and has never been away from me once, and this is her first medical incident in all the 15 years. I can only imagine how scared she was.

At Animal General, my cat was seen by Dr. Leonhardt, who was incredibly caring, kind, and compassionate from the moment we walked in. One of the biggest differences was that she examines and treats her patients right in front of you, which made me feel so much more comfortable and involved in my cat’s care.

She quickly identified that my cat had bed sores and did not rush into anything extreme. Instead, she took the time to explain everything clearly, provided the proper medication, and showed me exactly how to care for them at home.

My cat was visibly scared, but Dr. Leonhardt and her staff handled her with such caution and care while taking her out of the cage and throughout the entire process. They made sure she felt as safe and comfortable as possible, which meant everything to me as a pet owner.

It’s very evident that Dr. Leonhardt has a lot of experience and truly cares about both her patients and their owners. I’ve grown up with cats, chickens, horses, and dogs, and have been to many different veterinarians over the years—and I can confidently say she is the best vet I’ve ever been to. The level of care, attention, and compassion she provides is unmatched.

I felt completely comfortable and reassured under her care, which made such a difference during a stressful situation. I’m extremely grateful for her thoughtful approach and would highly recommend Animal General of East Norwich to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and compassionate veterinarian.”

My dog originally had hip dysplasia in both hips. I elected to have her get left FHO in April 2024 when she was still young. She goes to PT weekly Tuesdyas and Fridays ever since then. She also recently had right FHO about 2 weeks ago as well.

The entire surgery team and physical therapy team has been very amazing and supportive the entire way. Victoria and Riley both answer any questions I have and give recommendations as well as show me how to do all the at home exercises for my dog.

They spoke to the Dr's there and called the animal rescue that was coming to there office that I could give to them. I have known them from Queens and they are the most wonderful caretakers of all animals. I traveled an hour from Queens and would have traveled many more hours because of there loyalty to all pets.”
