Green Lakes State Park is a stunning destination known for its two glacial lakes, Round and Green Lakes, surrounded by lush upland forest. These unique meromictic lakes maintain their ancient ecosystems, making them a fascinating natural site. The park features an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, which attracts golfers of all skill levels. In winter, visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, while cross-country skiing trails span 15 miles. The park is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, with a popular 4 km loop trail that is mostly flat and dog-friendly, providing beautiful views of the lakes. Many people visit for morning walks or family outings, enjoying the well-maintained paths. The beach area offers excellent swimming opportunities, and families frequently set up picnic spots, especially during warmer months. However, it can get crowded on holidays, so early arrival is advised. The park also features a snack bar serving hotdogs, hamburgers, and fries during beach hours, along with grills available for use throughout the park. Green Lakes State Park is a must-visit location for those seeking memorable outdoor experiences in a beautiful setting.
Beautiful setting and lots of amenities, but not the place for you if you like to “rough it”, as there is a lovely restaurant and a golf course.

We stumbled upon this place, and it’s truly beautiful and well-kept. It felt just like being on vacation at a resort, and my baby had a blast playing in the water. The shower facilities are a bit basic, but we were very satisfied and would love to come back for a barbecue next time.
