I recommend Martin Soderberg and his Cadenza Music school highly for any level of musician. My son took guitar lessons there for years before going off to college. He really connected with his teacher, Ben, and developed excellent technique and the ability to learn songs by ear. He didn’t always want to practice, but he was always eager to go to lessons. My daughter with special needs took piano lessons at Cadenza with a very patient and effective teacher (middle C has a “moustache”), and I was allowed to sit in on the lessons so I could reinforce her teaching at home.About four years ago, while guiding my daughter’s practice sessions, I developed an interest in playing piano and started taking piano lessons with Martin. I was a complete beginner but a serious student, and I could not have asked for a better introduction to the instrument. Martin is a world-class pianist (listen to his recording of Chopin Etudes) whose calm, patient and encouraging nature helped me relax and feel good about my playing. Under his tutelage, I made rapid progress. Within the first year, I had learned all my major and minor scales and three-note arpeggios. Notably, he emphasized the importance of sight-reading skills and reading new music every day. He told me he thinks of lessons as guided practice, and indeed he had me sight-read during every lesson. I have had a few other teachers since Martin, and although all of them recognized the importance of sight-reading, none of them spent any time on it. I am grateful that Martin did, because otherwise I would not have developed the daily habit of sight-reading, which I believe is the most important factor in my continued progress as an early intermediate pianist.Martin has an encyclopedic knowledge of the classical piano repertoire, and I always enjoyed the pieces he picked out for me to learn. One of the first pieces I learned by a major composer was a Schubert waltz in B minor. I had never heard it before, but when Martin played it, it sounded so beautiful that I felt if I could only play that piece, it would be enough. Well, I did learn to play it, and it has brought me a lot of joy. (Incidentally, Martin also has perfect pitch. One day, I was warming up with scales before he came into the room. I called out, “What scale was that?” He responded in a joyful singing tone, “E major!”) Not every student will be able to appreciate everything that a musician of Martin’s caliber offers his students, but one thing everyone can appreciate is his enthusiasm and joyful approach to music and to teaching. Above all, he wants his students to enjoy music and learn the music they love. If you love Billy Joel or Bruno Mars, Martin is more than happy to help. But do try the Schubert![The only reason I stopped taking lessons at Cadenza was that I moved out of town.]

I will travel miles to have my thirteen years old son take lessons from Cadenza Music center. Martín has been teaching my son since he was six years old. I have the privilege of been his student as well. Any serious student who follow Martín advice will sure become a professional musician.

My son learned piano with Mr. Martin Soderberg over a year. I'm highly recommended this music school and Mr. Martin himself. This music school is suited for any level, recreational or professional, you can find the right level teacher for your child. Especially you have already hope your child to commit in music. Mr. Soderberg can provide the long term goal and instruction professionally. I felt very lucky that my son met Mr. Soderberg at the early stage of his music study.

Cadenza Music Center of Bayside, Queens, NY is the best place for everyone who is interested to experience the joy of learning to play musical instruments. My daughter has been attending private piano lessons at Cadenza Music Center for three years. The teachers are knowledgeable and friendly. They really know how to teach people how to play pianos and they are willing to accommodate your needs. I never had any issue rescheduling a makeup class, where as in some other places rescheduling could be difficult. My experience has been awesome. Teachers are very understanding and they always work with you. My daughter is happy with her teachers and eagerly attend her lessons. Before COVID-19, she attended her sessions on-site. The Piano Teachers, Cecilia and Martin, are two wonderful educators. While their teaching styles are somewhat different, but they are both experienced, patient, and professional. Cecilia and Martin take their time and use every method possible to make the learning experience fun and enjoyable. They are great and my daughter has been learning a lot from them. They also use new techniques to teach during COVID-19. Sometimes, if they sense that my daughter lacks practice or is behind on her progress, they would encourage her to practice more with an utmost caring and warm attitude. I really appreciate Cecelia and Martin and I give Cadenza Music Center a 5-plus-star rating. Thank you, Cadenza Music Center!

My two boys have been taking piano lessons with Martin for 5 years now and it has been a wonderful experience. Martin is thoughtful, patient, and always encouraging. He enables children to develop an appreciation and love of music. My boys have also participated in Cadenza recitals which have added to the experience. Thank you, Martin and Cadenza!

My children have been taking piano lessons from the Cadenza Music Center for the past 6 years. They absolutely love it and love their teachers Ms. Cecelia and Mr. Martin. They enjoy exploring, learning, and playing the piano. They have come to appreciate music and even google various composers just for fun. Cadenza has been a blessing in giving my children the opportunity to understand the fine art of music and culture. Thank you all at Cadenza!

As a student of Cadenza Music Center for over 6 years, I have been consistently impressed by the excellent level of quality and professionalism from all of the teachers. Martin is a brilliant pianist and amazing at sharing his vast musical knowledge with anyone at any age, and I look up to him with the highest regard. The other teachers are all also very qualified and well equipped for teaching all students across a variety of instruments. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the lessons and would recommend them to anyone at any age or skill level!

My 10 year old daughter has been attending piano lessons at Cadenza Music Center for the past three and a half years. Martin agreed to allow me to sit in on the lessons so that I could support her progress at home. Martin has a deep knowledge of the repertoire and carefully guides piece selection often with the input of the child so that the child’s next piece is in part selected by the child. Martin is patient, giving praise and gentle constructive criticism. He includes tidbits of musical history, musical vocabulary, as well as elements of music theory as the student is ready. Each lesson spirals back to past lessons which helps reinforce previously learned material. He speaks with the child about bringing a piece to performance level and keeping it there in order to build a repertoire of her own. Scheduling lessons is easy and setting up the inevitable make-up lesson is easy as well. We have continued with her lessons remotely via Face Time which has gone remarkably well. I am hoping that remote lessons will become a regular part of her instruction with an occasional in person lesson (when the Covid19 situation resolves itself). This is my fourth child taking music lessons and Martin Soderberg is by far the best teacher we have ever worked with.

My children, currently ages 13 and 16, have been taking piano/voice/violin lessons from the Cadenza Music Center since they were 4 and 7. Martin has always been able to inspire both of them to love and appreciate music and art, even during the summers through the summer camp. Having 2 teens is challenging, but one thing they agree on is how music is able to bring us even through the most difficult of times. When they play/sing, they summon their emotions and allow them to unfold. It’s a beautiful thing! Thank you, Martin and staff!

Love, love, love Dr. Martin. He is always professional, kind, and sweet. It is lovely working with him - we continued our lessons remotely and our daughter kept improving. Would give 10 stars if I could!

A great teacher, very patient. Although the learning process is a bit slow for my liking, it is his way of teaching and it does not discourage me from learning with him.

Interested in the offer on their website, tried to call a few times but never answered, voicemail box is full and leaving no options for messages. Poor business management.
