Today’s experience at this nail salon was so negative that it left me feeling hurt and confused. It’s always been a bit awkward there, mainly because of the manager. But despite that, I’ve always been respectful and given a fair tip, sometimes even a good one.
However, today I realized that I’m not welcome there. I understand that the neighborhood is predominantly white and older, but that doesn’t justify the disrespectful behavior I’ve experienced. They always talk in their own language and giggle, which is unprofessional and disrespectful to a paying customer.
I called the salon to ask about the gel manicure and pedicure, and I was clear about what I wanted. On the phone, the manager said $66, I even asked if they charged extra to remove the gel, she said no. I went to the salon and said, “it’s $66 for gel
manicure/pedicure, right? I called on the phone.”
She confirmed.
After deciding to stay for the service, the manager speaks in her language to two (free) workers. They seem to neither want to jump at the chance to work; I stay for the service, once one agreed, and end up getting charged $86. When asked about charge, Manager said she misunderstood and thought I meant regular manicure/pedicure. That’s not even true, bc regular is like $44. This is dishonest business and disrespectful.
And not sure if all because I look young or because I’m Hispanic. No worries, I’ll never go there again or recommend it. Service is pretty basic, and no special nail art provided anyway. They don’t seem to know how to do square nails either. And foot cleaning/scrub is mediocre.

I've lived in forest hills on and off for years. This is hands down my favorite place and I tried them all. The owner and the whole staff are so wonderful. Look no further they are amazing.

Sometimes I’m left with ingrown big toes that end up hurting later on BUT every time I always get a clean and long lasting pedicure. The ladies are also very friendly and won’t small talk you. Love this place.

Rushed and not thorough. For the price they should work with time and care.

I was very excited to try this place. The woman upfront is friendly and the place is clean. HOWEVER, the pedicure I received yesterday was disappointing. The nail tech burnt the side of my toe with the electric rotating blade. I had to ask her twice to be gentle until I asked her to completely stop. Afterwards, when she was cutting my cuticles she cut a chunk of skin from my toe. I brought it up again and she did not even apologize. The service was rushed, even though no one was really in there. I will not be going there again.

The staff are so kind and friendly, and the place is kept clean. I’ve been going here for years when I want to get a spa pedicure and gel manicure for a special occasion. I’m never disappointed - they do great work here! It’s best to make an appointment, since they can get quite busy. They adhere to their appointment schedule and do their best to accommodate walk-ins. Unfortunately, I’ve seen walk-ins get frustrated when they can’t be taken right away since clients with appointments are prioritized. Again, I recommend calling and getting penciled in their schedule if you want to be guaranteed a spot at a particular time.

You’ll notice all the people leaving 1 star are consistently leaving 1 star for other businesses. Such a shame — Forest Nails is the best!! This is the only place I will go in the neighborhood. I’ve been a regular for six months. I’ve tried other places in the area and I’m not impressed. I ALWAYS come back here. The owner is so sweet and all the staff is accommodating and friendly. The salon is super clean. Every time I’m here, they ask if I want something to drink; they ask if I’m comfortable, if the temperature is just right, if the color looks good, etc. They’re just the best! I get my nails done every 2 weeks here, gel manicures and spa pedicures. The prices are great, too. I can’t say the last time I’ve been to a better nail salon.

First experience here was at 1pm on a Sunday not busy at all but the nail tech seemed to be in such a rush the entire time and then made a huge deal because I wanted to switch the color before she even started painting. Also severely overpriced $70 just for dip powder she did it way too thick and it looks clumpy. She also forced me to tip so I ended up spending $80 in total. I regret tipping and doing my nails here. Don’t recommend.

Wow, have been coming here for years and they just charged me an extra $2.00 fee for using my cell phone to tap pay (i paid 10 dollar tip in cash for pedi). Apple Tap pay does NOT charge fees. Google it Forest nails. Also, this was my debit card that was linked to it - CASH. I am extremely disappointed and told them so. They didn't care that I said I will never come back. Thanks and bye!

Regular Mani pedi is $41. Lucia wasn't the best. She rushed the pedicure and forgot to Scrub one foot. It was the fastest pedicure ive ever had. There were streaks in the nail polish and it was a sloppy mani.
