If you are using their online banking system, think twice before using this bank. I have tried to print out my checking account list of transactions and when you print there is a header that covers your transactions. Therefore, you do not see all of your transactions. I have called about this and spoke with three different people who always say the same thing, "I will put in a ticket to have it fixed and someone will call you." Did they call any of you because they certainly did not call me and it is not fixed. Horrible customer service!

This bank is a borderline criminal enterprise. Their mortgage payment method is exhibit A in what I hope will become their undoing. So, everyone has a 15 day grace period. Now, if you submit your payment electronically after the 10th of the month, they will astonishingly take up to 6 DAYS to process this instantaneous transaction AND then charge you a late fee which is between $150-250 or more. The obvious reason they do this is to charge obscene fees they're not entitled to a/k/a free money. If this were not bad enough, they actually acknowledged on the phone that they're aware of this "glitch" and are working to speed up the transfer time. So, they know they're at fault and they don't care - they're gonna go right ahead and keep collecting illegal fees. And, oh, they're not really working on it - this has been a problem for well over a year. A 10th grade understanding of coding could fix this problem in minutes. In short, unless you don't mind being charged exorbitant, unearned "fees" find another bank.

I am trying not to write this in a rage. This morning there was only one teller in the Forest Hills branch. The customer at the window had a complicated transaction and that slowed things up. I waited and waited and then three other people were in line with me. There were two "officers" present: one behind the teller and one at her desk near the entrance. Both kept their backs to the line. As we waited and waited, the one at the desk took out her lunch and exited. One of the women on the line knocked on the divider and asked the other one if she could help us. After some time she went to a window but she had no cash. At this point I was first on line. However, she could not serve me because I needed a cash return. Therefore, the others behind me were taken first. When I finally reached the window the only teller-a very nice young man- took care of me. I asked for a checking statement from 11/30 until today-12/31. He printed the statement and I left. There were still others waiting. When I got home and started to balance my checkbook I discovered that the statement had no check numbers! (It was also dated 11/30 to 1/7/21- quite prescient!) I called the bank and spoke to Ms. Simpson (the lunch lady). She checked the account and told me she could print out a new statement and I could come and pick it up. So much for service. I have been using Maspeth in Forest Hills for almost 30 years. In the last few years, and especially this year when new computers were put in place, the service has been spotty. The tellers seem to be new and do not last long. I don't know if that's due to Covid but the whole atmosphere has changed. Years ago there was a manager named Vickie. ( I'm sorry I don't remember her last name.) She would have opened a window and had cash and a smile. Days of that kind of service are gone. Mores the pity. Perhaps it's time for a change.

Great bank, you feel at home here, you can't get that with the big guys. Free checks, free checking account and also free Electric Vehicle charging, you can't go wrong!

I love this bank. Their personal accounts (checking & savings) have reasonable minimums and no fees.

They appear to be obstructive to assisting people with their banking needs. I will never do business with them again. If I could give them negative stars I would. Avoid Sharon at Fresh Meadows unless you have a lot of time and like people without social skills. Jim

I have been a Maspeth Bank customer for 9 years and recently the new bank management established has a terrible reputation and dozens of complaints for charging you late fees on your loan when your only one day late, after the first of the month, even though you have a 15 day grace period. what is up with that! Then, they will not take your payment(s) and late fee until the following month which then affects your credit rating of being late 30 days!!!! This bank has become a poorly managed sham and "does Not treat your like family". New management are only concerned about the bottom line and not long term customers.

My husband has an account at this bank, but I sometimes go there when I have rolls of change to exchange for bills (TD Bank is no longer accepting loose change as per their recent scandal). I have a lot of rolled pennies from my father, and rather take them all at once, I break it up so as not to overwhelm the tellers and so my husband and I go to Maspeth about every other week or so with $5 worth of pennies. Not a big deal, right? Wrong, when it comes to a teller named Dorothy. She huffs and puffs and acts as though we're asking her to turn straw into gold. She starts by telling us to use their penny counter, which we have tried but since stopped as my father's pennies are so old that the machine doesn't recognize them, and they've been rolled already anyway. Then when we decline to use the machine, Dorothy huffs some more and says that we have to write my husband's account number on each roll (there were 20 rolls this last visit), which by the way, I've never heard is a requirement from any other teller. Then after we comply with this request, Dorothy proceeds to say, "There are probably Canadian pennies in here! How do I know if there aren't Canadian pennies?" I explain that I feel certain there aren't. Dorothy then proceeds to tap each roll on the counter, as if to imply that my husband and I have concocted a diabolical scheme to short Maspeth Bank on pennies. All of this is to say that Dorothy has a pattern of delivering poor customer service, which I personally don't appreciate, and which I feel reflects poorly on this otherwise harmless bank. The next time Dorothy is rude, she can rest assured that I'm going to speak directly with her manager. So apparently my husband went to this bank a few days ago and complained to the manager about Dorothy's poor behavior. The manager said that yes, she was "aware" of the situation, but instead of apologizing, she proceeded to scold my husband and me, saying that Dorothy said that WE were rude to her. Unbelievable. As my husband so aptly replied to the manager, "There is no shortage of banks in Forest Hills." I hope Maspeth doesn't mind losing the sizable business my husband has kindly given them the past few years and that they are aware that another community bank will benefit from their foibles.

Worst bank ever. I accidentally overdrafted by $3. They never notified me or or called me. I found out when i went to deposit money and the teller told me my account was closed and why. One of the managers told me not to pay the $3 overdraft amount and it would show up on my credit report. After that, I went to talk to a representative to dispute the issue. When she pulled up my account, I found out they had the incorrect contact information on file for me. I have no idea where they got the out of state information from since I never lived in any other state besides NY. They closed my checking account two days after the overdraft. I had the information corrected. A week later I received a letter in the mail saying they would not allow me to open a bank account with them because I overdrafted. I've banked with Maspeth Federal for at least 17 years and always overlooked the errors they made in the past. My family and I used to sarcastically refer to them as the High Tech Bank because they can't get anything right and they think by updating the physical appearance of the bank automatically makes them a more modern bank. If you're thinking about banking with them, think twice. On top of them mismanaging personal info, they have ancient rules and policies that don't even apply in modern times. You're better off banking somewhere else.
