Nice experience here - the manager was extremely friendly and comical and really set the tone for a fun dinner experience. Hibachi Chef was rather monotone and dry but food came out great. Atmosphere was clean and professional.

They provided less food comparing to the price. So expensive and a lady who didnt help/serve us at all, demanded us for more tips. It was so embarrassing. Will not go there ever again. Wasnt even worth going there from the bronx, and even though they cooked infront of us, the food was greasy and bland.

Food was good. Hibachi chef made the birthday girl and our table of girls feel special and impressed. We took a photo afterwards and kids were impressed by that also.

I called to order hibachi fried rice with shrimp and was told they can not make for take-out and that I would have to order Chinese fried rice w/ shrimp!! That is a bunch of shiatsu to me!!!Just the.fact they are unwilling to please the customer... I & everyone else they have been ripping off for years with their small portions and HIGH prices, not be returning to Sushi YA!

The sushi here is very fresh and there are so many options to choose from on the menu. The dish presentation is very nice. Just look at the salmon tekka don! The service is always good. All the people here are very nice. The place is pretty big and has an entire side just for the hibachi. The place is due for a bit of a renovation tho as its dark and kind of old...Vegetarian options: Plenty of choices ?Kid-friendliness: Kids love the hibachiParking: Parking lot is huge

I haven't been here in over 10 years. My last visit all food was severely over cooked, way too salty and greasy. Staff was hostile towards customers. My next visit for Hibachi here will be ... never! I may return for Sushi as I did order a roll which wasn't bad, but certainly not worth $18 for Salmon Maki with some caviar on top.First this is Long Island, ALL places have refills on drinks. Sushi ya does not. They do not offer you water and it seems as if the wait staff wants you to wait on them rather than them waiting on you. 20 minutes, my glass was empty, no one asked. Didn't even offer me water. I asked for water and then changed my mind for water for my whole party. They were displeased. I rattled the mighty cage of the YA!Ok so aside from an overpriced average roll that I can get better at a supermarket, AND the crabiness of the staff that would make Mr. Krab look benevolent, let's move on to the Hibachi. Now just to be clear, yes I am about to nit pick! The proteins were cooked first. And I do mean first and only on the grill. We say there for 15 minutes with the proteins getting cold hoping that the laws of physics somewhere worked differently on this magical grill. Well, they did not. So our medium-rare 4 oz filet minion (right, they should simply say chuck and not-chuck) ended up soaking all the 1/4 cup of extra dark soy sauce used as seasoning and became dry, salty and tough as leather. Oh and the shrimp were obliterated! Shells still partially attached too! BONUS!Of the proteins, the chicken was put on at the same time as all other proteins however it does take the longest. as such, the cook did NOT overcook it and strangely enough it was the only protein properly cooked. The chicken by the way, was still being cooked even after the noodles and rice was finished!I don't understand the obsession with Hibachi places and their need to over salt and use so much oil! Soy sauce is not hibachi! A mix of soy and Teriyaki OR just Teriyaki, even watered down, is just fine! I don't understand their need to substitute flavor with over salt.So the other sidde of the restaurant is Sushi and the customers ALL seemed much happier there. NO ONE on the Hubachi sude ate more than 50% of their food. The soy sauce, oil and salt probably got to us all! The other side seemed like the happy place to be. Honestly, don't offer a cuisine because it earns. Don't offer a cuisine because you're already retrofitted for it. Offer it because you care enough to provide the service you are offering!Honestly I do believe the owners and staff are city folk who see their primary clientelle is white and are assuming what suburban white folk want. I don't even want to go into why this is my believe. Let''s just say I've seen it quite often and it stands true in almost every case.I am not going to apologize for this horrible review so long as Sushu Ya feels that this continuation of horrible food and service can continue yet another decade! 10 years agoI wasn't able to leave any reviews. Now, I want this review to reflect their business and hopefully they will understand that over priced hibachi while destroying the food, NOT EVEN COMING BY TO CHECK ON CUSTOMERS to see if everything is okay, simply ignoring customers and charging $40 for over salted, over cooked food, it's NOT acceptable. Please people, don't attack me for speaking the truth. Don't attack me because "oh that's the only sushi restaurant in the neighborhood, I can't believe this reviewer!"Come on people demand better food, demand better service! We work hard for our money. McDonalds sadly is better quality than this (not really but you get the point).

Well so first of all when I went to this place I was happy at first they had one of my top 10 drinks which is Shirley Temple and it was pretty good. Everything was fine until the chef came for hibachi. He started on the main courses first and I ordered steak and chicken with a side of fried rice and I asked the steak to be medium rare which was what I got and when I got my side the chicken and steak was not hot as when it was given to me so that takes away a star. Another problem I had is when I started eating the food it was salty and we didn't have water and my dad had a empty cup for about 15 minutes and our waiter went by us multiple times and even looked at us. Also I needed water to and when he finally came I couldn't eat because I needed water so we asked for waters and I don't think the water was filtered water I think it was tap water because it had a taste that is not from filtered water. And the prices were high and the portions well the right size for me but for some other people the would be small but it isn't my problem. My mom and our chef were both Chinese and she asked in Chinese to not make it too salty and he understood Chinese since he responded back and the food was still salty. Overall we are not impressed and might not go back.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free people friendly.
