Very positive experience today. Meghan at the front desk was very helpful with a year end transaction. We stopped in while traveling and appreciate such great service especially from a non local branch. Thanks Meghan!

Had a great experience at this Charles Schwab office today! Shane was patient and helpful throughout our relatively long and complicated appointment.

A horrible example for an investment institution. Charles Schwab is NOT good for a new or little experienced investor. Any mistakes made are learned the hard way. For example day trading and this list goes on. Charles Schwab will let you make the trade. They will collect their $5 for it. Then slap you with a penalty after. Saying the trade was bad and you should not have done it. Then you will be placed in a certain category of traders, aka labeled. You will not have access to your funds for 72 hour period of 1 month. If you accidentally repeat one of the many infractions again, which can very easily happen, Charles Schwab will again collect their $5 and turn the 1 month waiting period, 1 year of waiting 72 hours to access your funds. They allow you to make the error. They collect their $5 sales commission and then slap you will a label and penalty. This is not good for any new investor. Use Robinhood. Save your $5, their labeling and 72 hours hold penalty on your funds.

Good location right off of Old Country Rd in big office building right before you enter the Roosevelt Field mall. Getting in the parking lot is easy, getting out can be a pain. You either get on Ring Rd and go around the loop or make a U-turn to get back to Old Country Rd. Office is on first floor, staff is friendly. They will help you opening and transferring accounts but do not give financial advise. They are a discount broker. They will try to refer you to one of their network financial planners assuming you have enough money to manage. These advisors charge the typical 1 to 1 1/4 percent fee on assets. Schwab will give you a detailed analysis of your account for free if you request one. For a discount broker they provide a fair amount of service.

Would not use this company since they present so many obstacles. It can be a disservice to the elderly , since some of the clients need this money to be used for their livelihood. My aunt appointed me as power of attorney from the state of New York.since her fall in May 2017 and hospitalization I have been paying her bills and now since that time she is need of aides to live . i have joint accounts with her. Those accounts were made in 2007 or earlier. for her needs I need access to her account at Schwabb and have not been allowed since they do not honor power of attorney from the state It is a shame . Surprised that a financial institution supersedes the state.

Since I am planning an overseas trip I did a little research and found the travel community raves about the ATM features of Charles Schwab's checking account with good reason. They reimburse you ALL ATM fees and NO foreign transaction fees (when you take money out in another currency). In general I found you usually get the best exchange rates withdrawing funds directly from your bank account instead of exchanging money at the booths you find in airports/cities around the world, or bringing a wad of dollars to a bank. That alone was the main reason for opening an account, but I also found they have 24 hour customer service. It is US based and knowledgeable. You can also chat online so no need to speak on the phone. I did find they tend to ask questions about your investment plans and do try to steer you towards their investment products. To open a checking account you also need to open a brokerage account, but there are currently no requirements to fund it. You may want to. In looking over their investment options they have some competitive expense ratios on their mutual funds and ETF as low as .03% beating the low cost investment leader, Vanguard in some categories. Stick with the no transaction fee funds and ETFs, because the ones with fees are pretty high. The fine print states that expense ratios can change at any time, but as of now that is some of the very lowest around. Truly pleasantly surprised by my experience so far. Hoping the good vibes continue when I travel over the summer and actually use my ATM privileges.
