It’s a neat experience staying in the castle, however, it is a bit pricey. The bed was extremely uncomfortable, no gym and the robes in the room were very rough terry. The ice machine is in the new hotel so it is bit of a hike to get and there is no fridge in the room. The room did come with a free tasting which was nice.Rooms: Bed highly uncomfortable.Food & drinks: Restaurants on premises

Came to Belhurst Castle for our anniversary, to have dinner at Edgar's. It was difficult to get a reservation, had to have a reservation at 8:00. We got drinks at Stone Cutter's. Great service there. Our waitress at Edgar's was inattentive. Splitting a shrimp cocktail for two, brings five shrimp. Corrected it by bringing three more. Waitress disappeared had to get another waitress to get us drinks. She forgot to bring out salad. Food was not warm. In an effort to compensate for her poor service, she did not charge us for the salad or the two glasses of wine. It was our anniversary, we should have been focused on each other, not on the lack of service. We were not concerned about the cost of dinner. We were there for the atmosphere and and the good food.

Absolutely beautiful. Went in January when we just about had the castle to us. Included was wine tasting and a light continental breakfast. Ate in the tavern since the dining room was closed. The room was spacious and spotless. Walked around the grounds. Place is well maintained. The staff was very cordial and welcoming. Plan to visit again.

Nice place and location. Food is good. It’s too sad that the front desk and staff are not polite. Waiter was nice . But front desk/ manager can definitely improve.

The stay began with a 15 minute wait for the front desk attendant to return. The lobby looks nothing like the rest of the photos, it’s reminiscent of Ramada Inn or Cracker Barrell. We paid over $450 for the room and the fireplace didn’t work. The furnishings were poorly appointed, dingy and faded. The “cold continental breakfast” wasn’t just cold, it was the kind you’d expect at a Days Inn off the highway, not 5 star hotel. This was terrible.

Let me clarify up front that this review is specific to the Spa ONLY. I did not stay overnight in the rooms so I cannot comment on the Rooms. I traveled an hour (from Rochester) to go to Belhurst Castle Spa for a team building event with some of my colleagues. Our event included spa services in the morning and then lunch in the Pub. There were 2 people that scheduled spa services at 10am. We were greeted by the front desk admin and both the massage therapists however there was no intake process or forms filled out. This left me feeling uneasy at the start. I booked for a deep tissue massage. The therapist I was assigned to went by the name Abby. She ushered me upstairs to the room where the service would take place. She was very friendly. She briefly asked me before leaving the room what areas I wanted her to focus on. I told her the areas and she left. Basically this is where things went downhill. She was in essence, a rookie because all she did was spread lotion on me. I could tell she was following a routine (and not very well). I could feel her level of confidence in herself was low as she was awkward in her motions and there was no pressure. This was supposed to be a deep tissue massage! She also never asked me during the massage about the pressure. Next, when I was asked to flip over from my stomach to my back she lifted up the entire sheet (leaving me completely exposed) and stepped back about 4 feet from the table. It was very uncomfortable. Lastly, this was supposed to be a full body massage and she never once touched my arms or hands. This is a BIG miss. I'll wrap up this review to say that I was greatly disappointed in my experience. I expected much more from Belhurst than a jr massage therapist when I paid a premium price for the service. I think I should have been warned that this person was jr and should have been charged less. Overall, I'll state that if a spa has jr and Sr massage therapists on staff, there should be a price differential and the client should be aware of what they are getting. I am a long time massage therapy consumer. I have gone to spa's all over the US, Canada and on multiple cruises in international waters for 25+ years. I know the difference between Senior and Junior therapists. Belhurst isn't the only one who's missing it but I am getting tired of encountering this situation and leaving after paying $$$ for subpar service.

I will never stay here again! The room is ludicrously overpriced ($300 per night) for what you are getting. We stayed in the Bronze room and the wonderful view of the lake was ruined by dirty windows and spiders/bugs crawling between the panes. Bed = squeaky and uncomfortable. Wardrobe = creaky like crazy. Ceiling = totally cracked.Fire place in the room might be nice but we were told we couldn’t use it. Instead, we tried to go to the fire pit outside, however that thing is clearly leaking gas because we got a headache after sitting beside it for 10 minutes and you can smell the gas coming off it.The free wine was absolute garbage. Tasted more like expired juice than wine. But, even still more disappointing was the free breakfast. Few varieties of pre-packaged cereal and bagels with canned OJ & cranberry juice. Don’t forget to grab your Dole fruit cup. Absolutely despicable that a hotel charging so much can’t put out some fresh eggs and bagels not from a bag. I’ve had better continental breakfast at a hostel.Stay somewhere else with a view. We also had a snappy experience with the staff so overall BOOOOO! Don’t call yourself a romantic and luxurious destination. I could hear my neighbor sneeze in the room next door. In need of top to tail improvement.Cherry on top was the worst massage I have ever received.

We wanted to taste wine and beer. But apparently 6 couples could not be accommodated. We offered to split into two groups NOPE they couldn’t do that either. Two in our party decided to do a tasting on their own. Could not find anyone to serve them. There were two tasting areas that were not busy - empty. They were ignored by two employees busy conversing with each other. We moved on! Hoping to find another place that will appreciate our business.

A truly unique experience that was memorable due to the castle and its quirkiness! The wine spigot on the 2nd floor was really fun and we sipped on a few glasses. The woodworking is just awesome and would cost a fortune today. We had a wonderful time. The only disappointment was Edgar’s, as my wife’s dinner was wrong, then came out when we almost finished. The server took it off the bill. Strangely enough, we had two meals wrong in the Stonecutter the next night. Comped again. The breakfast at the castle should be better and not prepared items. The food and beverage Mgr should take a look at this. Overall, we had a great time. The wine tasting at the castle was fun too!

We hosted our rehearsal dinner and welcome reception at Belhurst Castle and it was absolutely incredible. The staff was so attentive to what we needed and incredibly professional throughout the planning process and (most importantly) on the day of the dinner/reception. Thank you so much - especially to Morgan - for making this night so amazing!Food & drinks: We hosted our rehearsal dinner and welcome reception at Belhurst Castle and the menu for both events was perfect! There was fantastic variety that suited everyone who attended, and the staff did an excellent job serving and keeping the appetizers available!

Belhurst was all that was advertised and more for everything from the hotel rooms to the restaurants to the wedding venue to the staff! The rooms were beautiful. A perfect mix of vintage castle feel and modern amenities. Couples should definitely book the Tower Suite for that romantic getaway feeling.Stonecutters restaurant was absolutely amazing. The food was spectacular, staff is quick and attentive, and the scenery is breathtaking. The wine tasting was great, and the gift shop has something for everybody. The wedding venue was out of a Disney movie - both ballrooms were gorgeous! We chose the Meritage and it certainly did not disappoint. The staff was the most amazing, helpful, attentive, caring group of people you can imagine. Sharon and Lindsey at the front desk were supremely accommodating for everything lodging related. The wedding coordinator, Carmen, was nothing short of essential to our wedding planning. She had answers to questions before we even knew we wanted to ask them. She took notes on anything from a quick text to an in person meeting and sent them back to us so we could stay in the loop with her. She gave us such peace of mind during the whole process that we can never thank her enough. If you want a wedding planned, Carmen is the one to make it happen. She takes it all so personally and gives 110% to all of it. That does sometimes work against her (those are her own words!) and occasionally it is tough to get in touch with her because of it. She's in high demand for a reason - she's that good! Her assistant Mary Beth and the rest of her staff are also wonderful people that helped our wedding run super smoothly. If you're looking for anything from dinner to a weekend trip to a full blown wedding, look no further than Belhurst Castle and Winery!
