The Geneva History Museum offers an engaging look into the history of Geneva, New York, a small city in the Finger Lakes region. Located in an 1829 Federal house that has recently reopened with a new accessible entrance and welcome center, the museum features refurbished exhibits, accessible bathrooms, and a research archive. It showcases the growth of the community over 300 years, from native Seneca times through the 20th century to today. The museum has furnished period rooms, permanent and temporary exhibits, and displays that highlight diverse parts of history, including Native American history, Black history, and local development. Visitors can explore the main floor with antique furniture and discover unique displays downstairs, which change periodically. The museum also includes a kids’ area and staff who are eager to answer questions. Overall, it provides a honest, well-organized, and informative experience for all ages.
Smaller museum than what I am accustomed to visiting; had some very nice displays...but being in a city in the Great Lakes region, you would have thought they would have had more historical gems.
