What's not to love. Unless you are diabetic then it's amazing. Every single thing I've ever eaten here is beyond delicious. The summer bbq is also phenomenal.

We just moved to the area and nearly every single person who has learned of our move to Ghent has insisted that we become regulars at Bartlett House, and after this first visit, point taken. I probably could spare you all the details and just direct you to the happy face in the photo who has never tasted a danish so delicious, but I’ll give you a little rundown nonetheless. First, it took everything in my being not to order the pistachio croissant. It was my own choice to start with the basics and try the regular croissant first, and based on how delicious it was, I can say with full confidence that I’ll be back for that pistachio variation as soon as yesterday ;-) Like I said, the lovely woman’s face in the photo says it all when it comes to the cherry and cheese danish. She has very high standards for pastries and the single word that came out of her mouth after the first bite of pastry + cheese + cherry was “Perfection.” My main concern is that we’re less than 10 minutes from BH and I’m really trying to fit into my clothes this year. I will need broad community support on moderation, lest I’ll need an entirely new wardrobe. It’s going to take a village. Just get here. Fast!

This is my perfect cafe!! I didn’t get great pics of my food, but let’s just say the big hash brown is soooo iconic. Don’t skip the milkshake bar, too! Lots of friendly faces working and an overall great vibe. I’ll be back soon!

Over priced and their stock of items are always depleted.

We left the house in a hurry this morning so we decided to go to Barlett House to grab a quick pastry. The staff were really kind but also seemed quite distracted. After ordering, the gentleman who prepares the drinks went to bring another couple their order and he stood there chatting with them for a while, leaving us waiting. It was weird and the other staff were obviously frustrated by it.The fresh pastries all looked amazingly delicious -- it was genuinely difficult to choose just one. I got a Cinnamon Twist Donut (I actually hate donuts so this was a big move) with a Chai Latte and my husband got the Ham & Swiss Croissant. The Donut was full of layers more like a cronut -- I was pleasantly surprised by this. It was packed full of flavor. My husband's pastry was cold -- would have been better if offered to have been warmed but he said it was still good. The Chai latte was not made similarly to what I'm used to, it was an adjustment. The building and the restaurant ordering area are very charming -- a French bakery style. I absolutely loved it and we will be back with our daughter who dreams to go to Paris. ?

This is my local spot for morning coffee (and a treat) and the folks who work here are the best. Always helpful and kind- plus they know their espresso drinks. I love to bring folks from out of town, never disappointed!

This is a clean, lovely place with food that is not what it once was. I used to love to have breakfast here. I believe Covid is responsible for the service problem although all staff I have come in contact with were very nice. A positive thing to say is that everything I have had here over the years (since they opened) is always fresh. My complaint is about the two pullman loaves they offer. The Sourdough multigrain and Pain de mie. Only once did I purchase a loaf of pain de mie that was not baked properly and I would describe as too soft similar to "wonderbread." My real problem is with the sourdough multigrain. Prices have gone up. I understand that, but after spending $9.50 a loaf, I believe the quality should be excellent. Part of the problem may be bagging the bread (in plastic), and perhaps slicing while it is still warm. The other problem is with the baking. A pullman loaf should not have holes and the crumb should be consistant thoughout. Is the dough too wet? Is it not spread evenly in the pan? The slices are almost impossible to separate (I actually used a knife to cut them apart today). I have complained about this to no avail. I honestly believe this problem with the baking and packaging can be fixed. Please!

Lovely spot for breakfast/lunch or just a coffee. Historic location, plenty of parking but it def gets crowded. Get there early for baked things like croissants, pastries, & bread, they do sell out. Pistachio croissant!!! So good. Avo egg sandwich, with a soft-ish yolk, homemade English muffin-excellent. The hash brown was good too, one large piece sort of like a big homemade tater tot, crispy, delicious. Everyone was super friendly, you grab a table first (there aren't many), get in line to make your order, get a number & wait for food to come out. Self bussing after. Really enjoyed the breakfast items, choices for most allergies. Not good for large groups in the cold/rain weather because limited indoor seating. Def recommend!!!

Food was fine, atmosphere tricks you into thinking that this place is better than it truly is, but what was most surprising to me was the service. Staff with an attitude worse than the busiest diner from New York City, made a lot of misses on the order but then instead of fixing it, try to convince that it’s you and not them.. one of the guys taking an order made me repeat my order three time, guess not enough diversity in their customers for him to track a slight accent!! Ghent is such a pretty neat little area, shame that chose this place over others for my breakfast stop

What a great place. They try very hard with house made products. A great jewel in a little town.

Very good breads and pastries in a cozy setting. Great place to grab a light breakfast in town. Their sourdough is amazing! There is also decently strong wifi and about 7-8 tables in the back where you can sit and work when it's quiet. Prices are a little on the high side, for example the ham croissant is almost $6. The coffee is also very good, but there can be a bit of a wait when it gets busy, particularly on weekend mornings.
