“Almost 2 years ago we were looking for a school for our daughter to attend. We have a nanny so we did not need a day care. We looked into 3 places, South Shore being one of them. South Shore had a warm and friendly vibe. They have actual little classrooms! Other places we visited had more of a day care vibe. Something we did not want. The teachers, assistants and office staff were kind, helpful and patient with me. I was a nervous wreck sending my only child at almost 2 years old to a place away from home but my husband and I knew she was ready to be in a school setting to learn more and to be in social situations. We could not be happier with the teachers and staff at South Shore! As a teacher myself, I am beyond impressed with the many different academic activites the teachers do with the children. Their curriculum truly covers everything. Our daughter is more than prepared for UPK (which she is attending at South Shore) and has made many friendships. She even attends camp there and LOVES it!”

“Our daughter started attending Imagymnasium when we first moved to Harrison and she couldn’t speak any English. She began at age two and a half and attended until graduation.

She absolutely loved Imagymnasium. Almost every day, she would ask, “Do I have school today?” and was always excited to go. The teachers were incredibly kind, caring, and supportive, and she was fortunate to make wonderful friends there as well.

Over the years, we watched her grow in so many ways. She is now able to communicate in English and often comes home proudly showing us the math and other skills she has learned at school.

We truly feel lucky to have found Imagymnasium. It has been such a positive and meaningful experience for our family, and we are so grateful to the teachers and staff for everything they have done for our daughter.

Thank you, Imagymnasium!”

“My son started Academic Explorers approximately 6 months ago and he loves it! He’s happy to go every morning and has been learning so much. One day he came home counting in Spanish and I was happy because it shows how much they’re learning at school. If you’ve been wondering where to send your children, I would highly recommend this establishment! Everyone is friendly and welcoming and your kids will feel safe and at home.”

“We had an amazing summer at Red Robin’s camp. There were so many fun activities for the kids - crafts, nature, sports, swimming, etc - as well as special theme days. It’s clear that the directors and every staff member cares about the campers and have a vested interest in their happiness. There are small groups and consistent counselors thought the summer so they really get to know the kids (unlike other camps where counselors can change multiple times in a summer). My child can’t wait to go back next summer when he will be old enough to start going on some of the day trips. My only regret is not finding Red Robin prior to this summer.”

“I have been so happy with Harbor Child Care in Herricks. My daughter LOVES going to Daycare and I know that she is being well taken care of and learning a ton. She loves to come home and tell me about everything she did. Everyone who works there is so friendly and always has a big smile and warmly welcomes you. We both love her teachers. She loves the food and the field trips they take are great. I highly recommend them, I am so happy I switched from my previous daycare”

“Best place for you children! Amazing teachers, great curriculum and activities, cleaned and safe place, warm and healthy meals prepared at their kitchen and very positive and supportive staff overall. Had my son for one year at Kiddie (at Ms. Dyamond and Ms. Ari class, who are amazing teachers) and saw him happy and thriving every day. I was not recommended by anyone for this place, was just looking for daycare for my son and went for a tour at Kiddie and liked it since the first time I saw the facility and staff there. Would have been continued sending my son again at Kiddie Academy of Floral Park if we didn't move from Queens. 100% recommend.”

Every teacher here is deeply committed to the well-being and education of their students, and this commitment is evident in their interactions with them. Moreover, they are highly attuned to our child’s food allergies and always take extra precautions to ensure that any allergens are double-checked. “As a grandmother who cares deeply about her grandchildren—and as a former nursery school teacher—I have very high standards when it comes to early childhood education. This nursery school exceeds them in every way. The staff are exceptionally warm, caring, and attentive, and they truly go above and beyond, especially in accommodating my grandson’s food allergies with great care and professionalism.

They have also been incredibly supportive to my daughter. That level of understanding and flexibility is rare and deeply appreciated.

The environment is welcoming, nurturing, and family-centered. It is clear that the children here are not just cared for, but genuinely loved. I cannot recommend this nursery school highly enough.”

“We had a wonderful experience at Great Neck Community School with our son, who attended for one year as a four-year-old. The teachers truly care about the children and create a warm, supportive environment that helps them grow with confidence. We always felt positive about the care and attention he received, and we highly recommend this school to other families looking for a nurturing early childhood program.”

“This experience has been wonderful! Our daughter attended for three years and our son one. He'd run in without looking back. She was more hesitant, then couldn't stop talking about it. We moved to Port largely for this school and were not disappointed. The references were strong when we were deciding, and perhaps we'll chat if you're considering it. Many parents were educators (we're not), and we developed some close friendships. The name comes from "Project Spectrum," a research program that ran at Harvard under Howard Gardner and Mara Krechevsky. It's unrelated to the autism spectrum. The idea is that there are several types of intelligence (a "spectrum" of knowledge), and they can be cultivated in early childhood. My Spectrum School combines elements of this theory and the Reggio Emilia approach. It excels at translating theory into experiences. That's mostly because teachers care about kids, and kids aren't interested in Gardner. There's a commitment to longer-term themes (e.g., creativity, cognitive skills, STEAM), which informs curriculum. And they have a moment-by-moment approach: Teachers incorporate kids' interests and provide remarkable individual attention and differentiation. Class sizes are small enough to make that work. There's also some structure. Teachers stick to a routine for activities like arrival, lunch, playground, and departure---even if there can be considerable flexibility in between. Kids call adults by titles. Dr. D, Ms. Jennifer, and Mr. Jason became household names. The teachers are amazing, and it's hard to say enough good. Mr. Jason and Ms. Jennifer are bright, engaged, and passionate about the kids. They're also all-around wonderful people. Dr. D brings considerable experience with education theory and practice. Everyone had helpful insight at our conferences. They love talking about the kids. They were willing to reinforce things that we worked on at home, like empathy, imagination, or potty training. They will also tell it like it is: You'll hear something if your kid is in diapers at four or five. It is Long Island, after all.The facilities are large and thoughtfully designed. Mr. Jason teaches Pre-K students in one room. Ms. Jennifer and Dr. D have younger kids in another. There's a fair bit of crossover, where younger kids join the Pre-K students for some activities, parties, and play. Kids without younger siblings play eldest to the little ones, and likewise. We'll have fond memories.”

“? A Truly Exceptional Preschool - Tender Garden ?

As a parent, choosing the right preschool for my child is one of the most important decisions you can make — and I can confidently say that Tender Garden has been nothing short of a blessing for my family.

From the very first day, the warmth, care, and dedication of the Tender Garden team have been evident. The teachers and staff are not only highly qualified but also incredibly nurturing and patient. They create an environment where every child feels safe, seen, and celebrated.

What sets Tender Garden apart is their beautiful balance of play-based learning with meaningful structure. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, foster creativity, and build confidence — all while meeting each child exactly where they are developmentally.

My children have blossomed in ways we couldn’t have imagined — socially, emotionally, and academically. Every day they came home excited to share stories about their friends, the songs they sang, the art projects they created, and the new things they discovered. It’s clear that they feel genuinely happy and loved when they were at school.

The communication from the staff is outstanding. We always felt informed, involved, and supported. It’s comforting to know that the entire Tender Garden team treats every child as if they were their own.

If you’re looking for a preschool that combines warmth, quality education, and a true sense of community, Tender Garden is the place. I cannot recommend it enough — they have given our children the very best foundation to grow, learn, and thrive.

Thank you, Mrs. Yvonne, Mrs. Susan, Mrs. Lori, Mrs. Nicole and all the teachers aids at Tender Garden, for creating such a magical and loving place for my little ones. You are truly one of a kind!”

“All three of my kids went to pre-school here and all had an outstanding experience. It was tearful when our last one graduated and our time there was done. All of the teachers & staff were outstanding and we felt that they enabled our children to have the best first experience of school. Thank you so much for all that you do.”

“Two of our children were at Kindercare for multiple years, and the second is about to graduate and go to kindergarten this coming school year. We've generally had a positive experience, with great teachers whom our children loved very much and learned from. Our older daughter was well prepared for the kindergarten environment at Munsey Park Elementary after experiencing some structure at Kindercare, and also made friends whom we've continued to spend time with socially.

We deeply appreciate diligence of the great teachers there such as Miss V and Miss Anaya, Miss Tenetra, Miss Kylie, Miss Lorraine, and the center administrators Miss Corrie and Miss Dennesi.”

“I must say that the day I walked into this school, I fell in love. The staff are friendly and kind. The owner of the school (Mrs. Chin) is so warm, humble, and accommodating. Since my daughter started attending this program, my daughter has been doing very well in her reading, writing, and counting. I have been so impressed with the level of teaching they provide to their students. My 2-year old also started talking much earlier than other students in the class and now has been able to get out of her shell and engage so well with others. I have no complaints about the school. They have a nice balance of school work and play time during school hours and provide individual attention to all their students. I am excited to start my 3rd child in this program as soon as she turns 2. Therefore, I would most definitely recommend this school if you are in search of a great school in the Queens Village area.”
