Manager is rude and unhelpful. I ordered instacart from ulta and the instacart got me the wrong item. I went to return and the ulta employee told me it was going back to original payment. She was supposed to give me store credit and the $130 dollars went back to instacart. Instacart needs proof that i went to return the items, and i called ulta and they said to come into the store, just for the manager to tell me to contact ulta customer service. Actually ridiculous all i asked for was receipt and I am running around now trying to get my money back. She was rude and quick with me.

I usually love Ulta and have never had an issue, but this experience was honestly beyond disappointing. I came to ultra after my new born’s appointment to purchase much needed products and to claim my birthday gift, which is a small gesture Ulta offers to reward loyalty—and my birthday was literally last week at the end of June. I am 3 months postpartum, so time, energy, and errands are not taken lightly right now. I made the trip specifically to treat myself, and instead was met with attitude, policy policing, and zero empathy.
Valerie, the manager who “assisted” me, was incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of hearing me out or showing even a drop of compassion, she immediately started quoting policy like a robot and made me feel like I was trying to scam a $5 sample-sized product. She was”enforcing policies.” I explained I didn’t have time to come sooner due to my situation (again, 3 months postpartum, not just being lazy), and she was still cold and dismissive. There was no apology, no effort to de-escalate, no kindness—just condescension and policy reciting.
I didn’t expect the red carpet rolled out, but I also didn’t expect to be treated poorly and disrespected over a birthday gift that’s meant to show appreciation for customers. Ulta, if you’re going to offer a birthday program, please train your staff on how to handle it with compassion. Especially when people are coming in with grace and valid reasons for delays. Postpartum is one of the most difficult things a woman can experience and majority of your consumers are women.
I left without my gift, without any support, and honestly without the desire to return to this location. This could’ve been such a simple “we got you, happy birthday” moment—but instead it was cold, unsympathetic , and felt incredibly unwelcoming and unseen.

Had a weird experience with cashier Jolene today. I made a return for a perfume I had bought online. Completely unused and untouched. It was just an impulse purchase.
1. She couldn’t find the purchase on my account even though I gave her my Ulta account and receipt. So she had to do an “unverified return.” This puts a flag on your account. I gave her my barcode, ULTA ID, order number, everything. She acted like I was a liar.
2. She didn’t believe me when I told her the perfume wasn’t used. She inspected it and asked me questions that seemed a bit accusatory. And I know this because she printed out a “damage” ticket and stuck it onto the box. They damage this out/ship it back to HQ later. I’ve worked at a similar store before.
I always have issues returning stuff here that was an online order. Like another person said - please train your staff more.

this was the worst salon experience of my life. as soon as I sat in the chair, my stylist told me how damaged my hair was and pointed out how it looked “ugly” on the ends. During the process of foiling, she didn’t ask how I was, make any effort at conversation—just talked to me about how “you want a lot done today” and made me feel guilty for asking the hair stylist to style my hair. She did not ask about what I have previously done to my hair, which later became a problem when she realized I had previously colored my hair and therefore what I asked from her would not be possible. this would have been ok—but she continually talked about how orange my hair was, how damaged it was, how I needed a haircut (which is why I was there), and how what I had asked her to do was “a lot of work.” She burned my scalp with hot water in the shampoo chair & was nothing but rude to me. In the end, I left with orange hair which took 4 hours (the website said it would take 2 1/2) and no haircut because I didn’t have time nor any trust in her to get it. I left with orange hair that feels like straw and out $300. Avoid this place at all costs.

Cashier allowed another guest to cut ahead in line. The customer was polite when she noticed and offered to let me go, but the cashier ignored this.

Every time I have gone in person the last 3 times I have noticed the staff is always new and they know less and less about the return process. Cashier “Kay” claimed she could not see my purchase even after I entered my rewards account. The purchase was made less that the 30 days and she kept looking in 2024 purchases which made no sense if there’s no returns after 30 days right? Anyways I think staff needs to be trained better so I’m not making multiple trips to hear something different from each cashier, and if you don’t know as for help from your manager! I felt the need to submit a review after 3 bad experiences as this just had come to be a regular bad experience.

Unfortunately I’ve started to notice a pattern in them not having several products in stock. I even ask them to check in the bottom drawers and they don’t have several items I am looking for. I also wish there were at least 1 or 2 associates on the floor for help. I had to go to the cashier area to ask someone to assist me. Staff is nice though.

Amaya was a great help and really showed her knowledge with makeup and what would compliment my skin tone best. I’m overall happy with the service at Ulta! I will definitely be going back and spending another calm $100.
