The food, vibe and service were all A+ at Alpina. Everything we tried from the Swiss beer, to the entrees to the desserts was excellent. Extremely fresh food, kind and attentive staff and very cool and cozy atmosphere inside. Already can’t wait to go back!

Looking for something different? In Greenport, but, really, anywhere west of Portugal. ALPINA is an ingeniously conceived, boldly-sourced dining and drinking establishment unique within a (at least) 50-mile radius on Greenport's 365-day-a-year entertainment scene. You won't find fried clams, you won't find chicken 'parm', you won't find breakfast-all-day or any other American 'favorites'. You WILL find passionately engaged staff and first-class, Europe-inspired offerings interpreted for and by Long Island's metaphorical culinary ocean breezes. The space is intimate, compact; bar on one side, tables along the other wall, fostering lively exchange among guests . . . all youthful regardless of age. My line-caught trout in Champagne-with-fine-herbs sauce was I guess as close to Food Heaven as I will get in this world. The accompanying carrots and parsnips melt-in-your-mouth perfect. My darling's house-made Swiss sausage was as if sent over by Star Trek transporter beam directly from an alpine Italian kitchen. If you are lucky to score a reservation when Bagna Cauda Leeks are on the *Spuntini* menu, go for it; if it's the last thing you do, Go For It! More, please! Oh, and the bartender is a Picasso-level artist. I looked around at other tables . . . no two glasses were alike in terms of luminescence, garnish and sparkle. Glowing . . . fragrant . . . intoxicating. I'm afraid to go back. How could lightning (good lightning) strike twice in the same place?

Hearty Swiss fare was the call on an otherwise drab Thursday night in Greenport. Seated underneath the Alpenhorn in this cozy, empty restaurant at 7 PM, we got the VIP treatment from lead server Joe and excellent advise, plus a taste of the two white wines under consideration. "Following the crowd" and choosing the Kerner white from the Alto Adagio region of Italy was a good call. We wanted a broad dining experience, but since i'm a choosy sharer of dishes, we had to choose carefully to be sated and get the tasting experience we sought. Not to worry, my dining companion and I nailed it. First up was the baby Romaine Ceaser, made tangy with lemon and the addition of the white anchovies; a nice potion with a delicate dressing and a nice coating of shaved cheese and crunchy hazelnuts was a great way to start dinner. Piati segundo was the foraged mushrooms and fennel; incredibly earthy, flavorful morels (?), offset by tangy fennel was a taste sensation. Unfortunatly, our main course ( one huge Schnitzel, enough for two) came out at the same time as our pasta course, the lamb ragu on tagliatelle. Great sauce on beautiful wide noodles, albeit a tad softer than the al dente we would've preferred. The schnitzels however, were crisp, not greasy and with the assorted sides of potatos, lingonberry and pickles, was just what the dr ordered and sufficiently filling to cap off a great tasting dinner, done with financial constraint. With little room for dessert, we choose the ice cream and was pleasantly surpised by the texture and taste disparity between the wine and cheese flavored selections. But no coffee!!?? Hopefully they can provide this post prandial necessity going forward. Great vibe, great meal, great service on a nice winter eve! Enjoy.

Lovely people and service. Really enjoyed the location but the food had some issues. Everything had a "bitter" taste. That said we were taken care of and would try again.

AMAZING!!! ???? This place is SOOOO GOOD!!! The food is unique, different AND DELISH!!! Being new to the North Fork I had heard of this place but had never gone. Last weekend we went to the 2024 Chili cook off at the Greenport Brewery and Alpina was there! Their chili was SOOO GOOOOD, that my hunnnies Jeff and I knew we had to make a stop at their restaurant in Greenport first chance we got!! We just went this past Saturday for brunch and OMG~~ the choices, the flavors AND the ambience so warm and inviting!!! You won’t find your typical menu items here but that’s what makes this place so special!! It’s an opportunity to try fresh food and ingredients in a totally different way! We left there feeling satisfied but not overall stuffed and I’ll chalk that up to the freshness of the food! Although I try to steer clear of carbs (all depending on my choices and what’s in front of my face ? of course) I had to throw that out the window and go with the dish with a large round hash brown topped with smoked salmon and a poached egg!!! The names of the dishes I don’t recall but you’ll get my point ?! My hunnnies went with a dish with the most delicious mushrooms topped with an egg (I think) and onions!! We also ordered onion soup where they actually warm a particular cheese on the side and then come over and top your cup of soup with the cheese!! Because I’m a cheese lover I requested more!! I’ll add both pics so you see the difference! We also ordered a side of a bacon slice which was the real deal!! PLUS~ of course because it was brunch I chose my usual alcoholic companion ? ?? which happened to be a martini they have already prepared that is topped with a red chili oil! For that I had 2 ???. Overall SO HAPPY we found this place!! We live in Laurel, but definitely will be back to try the other items on the menu! They serve brunch Saturday and Sunday so want to make a point to try their dinner menu ???. PS~ they also have a huge bar that spans the whole side of the restaurant in case you are looking for that! All in all~~ DEF RECOMMEND!!! ??????

Quaint, small place in heart of Greenport. Loved the racklette scooped hot off a block and the other interesting cheese/charcuterie choices. Great for lunch.

Great, inventive brunch menu. The duck confit with duck egg on top was perfect winter fare as was the homemade Swiss sausage with red cabbage. The only drawback is that the restaurant is pretty cold and drafty, so if you go when it's cold, be sure to dress in layers.

I am so happy this restaurant lived up to the ratings. The service was attentive and the food delicious. I had the schnitzel and the breading was light and not an ounce of oil. We also had the gnocchi which was amazing, so light and melt in your mouth. I cant wait to try more of their dishes in the future.

The Quick: Fantastic cocktails, unique dishes, awesome staff, and cozy swiss Chalet vibes that are incredible all year. The details: One of my favorite cocktails ever is served at Alpina featuring Tequila and balsamic as two of the star ingredients. The brunch is mind blowing - the mushroom forager is so savory and tasty, you'll be talking about it for days (I know I will be). A meat and cheese heavy menu, but they do have one or two vegan options which we appreciate. Go, immediately. The Damage: typical for Greenport

The best restaurant I've been to in Greenport. Very good food, and unique for this part of long island. The squash gnocchi were perfectly cooked, fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, with a really good sauce. The schnitzel is comparable to something you would eat in Austria. And the potato croquettes are a delicious starter! Very cozy ambience too.

What a cozy little gem in downtown Greenport! Every dish had its own unique flavor and was a clear masterpiece. Dining here with a lovely experience.

Overall, wouldn’t recommend with everything else on the fork. Came for brunch. Service was incredibly slow. It’s themed as a ski lodge which doesn’t seem to make very much sense for a summer town. It’s SO dark inside, we opted to sit at the little bar by the window to get some sunlight and the stools were so uncomfortable. We had to wave the waiter over to finally order (the waiter was also the host and potentially the chef as well based on how long it took for our food to come out). We saw another couple get up and leave after their water arrived (opting for somewhere else) and wish we had followed their lead. Ordered the omelette and the French toast. Both could have been good but the toast was burned and so was something in the omelette

We are Greenport residents and dine out at all the restaurants in our town and love them. There's something very special though about Alpina. This is not your average seaside town fair. Every dish is thoughtfully prepared with incredibly fresh ingredients- the chef is mindful to create nuanced and perfectly executed cuisine. You feel transported from the moment you walk in. Highlights for us at the foraged mushrooms, the agnoletti and Wiener schnitzel. We've been back several times at the quality and Consistency of the cuisine and service is so wonderful. It is our absolute favorite restaurant of the summer 2023. Get ready to be transported to the Swiss chalet! The wine list is unlike any other, in Greenport. I wish I had pictures for you, but we ate it so fast lol... Next time.
