We stopped for a bite to eat at 4:30 on a Sunday afternoon, we were told we could not place an order until five. We sat at the bar and had watery drinks made with flat soda. We were finally seated, and presented with a menu that had so few options That it was laughable. We had just come in for a light bite, so we ordered the lobster bisque and the garlic Parmesan fries with lemon aïoliBoth were a bitter disappointment. The fries were barely warm and soggy, there was no taste of Parmesan and they aïoli was little more than a tiny cup of mayonnaise. The lobster bisque was downright cold, and consisted of a tiny portion of chopped seafood in the middle of a very large bowl, over which a small amount of soup was poured. Our bill was over $100.My advice would be to come for the view, order wine or something that comes directly out of a bottle, and avoid the food. If you must come at all, that is. There is a lovely public beach a stones throw away where you can get the same view for free.

The rooms are a huge disappointment at this price point. The furniture was old, dirty, and had burns (see pic). The floor was disgusting the dirt of heavy wear was visible (see pic). The sliding doors are almost impossible to open and the glass was dirty, not just like smudge but extremely filthy. The online pictures had the room seem bright but reality it was dark with sliding doors providing light from a great view the only saving grace of this overpriced underwhelming place. I decided to leave and did not even stay the night as I was disappointed with room and it made me feel uncomfortable with how dirty it felt. Jagger the valet at the motel was the best part of the experience going above and beyond with a smile.

Hotel in identity crisis + misleading fees = former fan, now disappointed. Is the Sound View a boutique, sophisticated haven? Or are cost-cutting measures evident everywhere, creating a discordant experience for guests? Yes.Rooms are stylish. But trouble awaits if your room happens to be adjoining - the walls are very thin w/ no soundproofing on the doors. You will hear your neighbor’s every conversation, cough and clang. If, like me, you don’t want to share your romantic getaway with strangers and ask for a different room, you may encounter an unhelpful night desk person who doesn’t smile or apologize and must be prodded to action. I was told no rooms in my class available, but could upgrade for an additional $300/night. Right.Breakfast takes place at a beautiful open space with gorgeous panoramic windows overlooking the sound. There are wonderful flaky croissants. But then…Smuckers Jam, Lipton tea and plastic cereal dispensers. There’s an espresso machine in sight but guests are told it’s not available for breakfast? Just a few years ago they had the machine running, good jam and exquisite granola. Would be totally fine if prices were Days Inn-esque, but they are most definitely not.Now the part that feels really crappy - the misleading fee presentation. When reserving, you see the room rate and taxes combined to a ‘Grand Total’ $ amount. This ‘Grand Total’ does not include the 11% amenity fee (which itself if not so bad b/c it includes the breakfast and other things). Your actual Grand Total is not displayed. You will receive many emails asking if you’d like to pay to upgrade your room, or pay for late checkout, or pay for more services. Then: They charge an additional $23/night for parking, whether valet or self-park. This is a new feature of the Sound View and just feels like a money-grab.Overall, the prior warmth and polish of the place seems to have dissipated into a dollar-first vibe that diminishes the great pleasure of hotel stays: hospitality.I’m rooting for the SV. I’ve stayed several times and would love to consider staying again. For now, I’ll just be there for sunset drinks.

Had the loveliest girls weekend winter getaway! No detail is spared at the Sound View. I was greeted at reception with some home made mulled wine, We had dinner at the Halyard which was exceptional, yoga every morning followed by a delicious croissant watching the tides roll in, who could ask for more?!

This was my second stay at the Soundview, and first time during the winter months. Don't let the cold weather scare you away, the Soundview and Greenport are open for business in the winter! This was a girls/mamas weekend away from our kids and the Soundview was perfect for us. As a party of 5 (we ended up being only 4 but we originally booked for 5) there are not many places on the east end that can accommodate that many people comfortably. We booked the 2 bedroom suite and it exceeded all our expectations! Very spacious, clean, and the view cannot be beat. Two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, full kitchen, dining, living, and outdoor space with patio furniture over looking the Sound. We took a yoga class one morning which was the perfect way to start the day. The yoga instructor incorporated an "ocean/wave" theme flow which was so appropriate for the waterfront setting. The free continental breakfast is just enough to fill your belly before hitting the wineries. Fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, pastries, and the croissants were the highlight! Dinner at the Halyard was by far the best meal we had all weekend. Other honorable mentions include Bruce and Sons (brunch), Lucharitos (lunch/dinner), and all wine and snacks offered at Rose Hill Vineyards. While shopping in Greenport one afternoon we stopped in the North Fork Art Collective. The owner, Kara, gave us a full tour and even shared the history of Fielder's Gallery. It's a two level gallery with something for everyone and every price point (even stickers for the kiddos!) I highly recommend the Soundview and Greenport village any time of year. You get what you pay for and the Soundview is worth every penny!!!

My husband and I visited recently for the first time at an event with family and friends. From the fantastic service, fresh, well-balanced food, incredibly unique drinks (that Halyard Gin - I can’t even say what I want to because it would be considered inappropriate) and our overnight stay at the Sound View - all I can say is wow, every aspect of our visit was spectacular and fully surpassed my expectations. The moment we arrived we were greeted with smiles, warmth and hospitality. The valet graciously loaded our luggage on a golf cart and gave us a ride to our room. As soon as we crossed the threshold I was floored by the beautiful, yet simplistic decor. You could see the thought and care imbued in every detail of the room’s design and fixtures. The Malin+Goetz toiletries were a phenomenal and comforting surprise considering I use the products at home. The mini bar had a generous selection of local beer, snacks and water. The bottles of Halyard x Mercari Vineyards wines and the bottles of the Halyard’s Gin, Vodka & Spiced Rum were an exciting addition. The Halyard Gin is my new favorite thing in the world so it makes me feel so depressed that I live out of state. I will cherish and slowly savor the bottle I purchased in the room. I am so inspired by the botanicals and hope to purchase more in the future so I can create some new drinks and dishes to enjoy at home. The espresso pods made my day. The view from the back window was gorgeous. The insanely comfortable bed mixed with the sound of the ocean ebbing and flowing over the rocks below made for one of the best nights rest I have had in a long time. Truly, you could not have picked a better name. The waitstaff and bartenders did such a great job. They were very professional and went out of their way to make sure everyone was able to enjoy themselves.Let me tell you, from one Chef (I work in the country club circuit) to another, you guys threw it down in that kitchen. The food was amazing and obviously fresh. The flavors were perfectly balanced. I had the house made pasta with truffle cream sauce, my husband had the short ribs with potato purée and brussels sprouts. We had had to share because they were both so delicious. The parsnip soup course made my eyes cross in ecstasy, the parsnip is my favorite root vegetable and it is nice to see such an underrated, overlooked ingredient brought to the spotlight and not overpowered by the other components. That blueberry mascarpone gelato was the perfect end to such an amazing dinner. I can’t wait to return and see what else you have to offer! As a side note to anyone who is planning to visit, make sure you go out on the back deck at the Halyard to check out the faces carved into the railing. There was something so calming about seeing them as you enjoy the ocean air.You guys gained a fan for life in me, so, thank you all for such a beautiful experience. Until we see you guys again!

Horrible. Ants in my room were so disgusting and bad that we had to check out early and find a new hotel to stay in. But what actually ruined our vacation was the nasty attitude arrogant attitude of the managers and the refusal to reimburse me the last nights stay when I was forced to leave the hotel. They should sleep with ants and see how it feels. I will NEVER step foot in Greenport again. So not worth it. Also, the rooms are extremely dark and dismal.

Best place to stay out east and feel the wind in your hair. Rooms were beautiful and waking in the morning with the sea right outside your sliding doors is amazingly peaceful.

Although it’s a bit too late on my end, I went ahead and canceled my booking due to the many recent negative reviews from other people in terms of all the extra charges and fees. I just feel that place is a money grab and it’s not worth it. Go ahead and keep the 50%, I feel I would have spent way too much if I were to go through with it over a 3 day trip. You live and you learn!
