Lovely long lateish dinner here. Same comfortable ambience as when I first came in 2018. Great for groups, family, couples. The food was okay, not particularly memorable.
Robert Beaver is no stranger to sustainable menus; his culinary background made taking over a Long Island kitchen with an eye towards local produce a no-brainer. What makes The Frisky Oyster a standout address is the combination of adventurous food and trendy flair. The namesake oysters are a must for any oyster fan: raw and served with a creative coconut mignonette; "Friskafella" style, a fun play on Oysters Rockefeller with spinach, chipotle and Parmesan aïoli. Other mainstays include tempura soft-shell crab and lobster pasta with Meyer lemon vodka sauce. For those who don't dare veer from area produce, options like the heirloom tomato fondue with apricots and goat cheese or the Crescent Farms duck breast with figs, cherries and beets step outside of the norm for the region. And for the sweet stuff, it's futile to resist Key lime pie. The drinks selection is varied, ranging from house-bottled water to a lengthy local and international wine list, and specialty cocktails and craft beers. Be aware that children are not welcome after 6 p.m. due to both space constraints and a desire to keep this venue a haven for adults.
