“Found Polka Dots while in the area and searching for consignment/vintage shops.
I absolutely loved my shopping experience. Great pieces and great prices.
Did I love everything clothing article in the store? Of course not, but that is personal preference.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The store is clean and well organized.
I have been planning to return but I do live 1 1/2 hours away and although I am in Albany at least once a week, ( if not more) the timing is never right. I am excited to say I will be in tomorrow!
One negative review seemed upset about not having items accepted for consignment so they put down the clothing being sold and complained about the music. I am an extreme fashion person. High end, Haute Couture, vintage and current( nothing covered in designer logos though) with inexpensive pieces mixed in and I was impressed with the stock here. As I said I am really looking forward to my return visit and hope I get some great finds.”

“Fantastic experience, called to ask if they were plus sized friendly and they definitely are!! The owner Susan is super duper friendly and very helpful in locating items and matching outfits with accessories. Such a beautiful selection of clothes, it seems very carefully curated. I found an ABSOLUTELY gorgeous dress and it was a brand that's very expensive and I got it for $35. (Usually this brand is like $150 or so, even more). Such a steal. She also just happened to have the most perfectly comfortable sage green sandals to go along with the dress.”

“Some extremely unique things in here, and though some of the space is a little congested and tough to walk through (as is often the case with places like this) you could spend a hell of a lot of time here.I didn’t really inquire too much on prices and I don’t know what the haggling situation is, but still more than worth coming in here to check out.”

“Was so excited to stumble on to this store. So well merchandised and filled with lots of great finds. The owner is super nice and so helpful and the dressing rooms were lovely. Found a dress and a pair of shoes from the late 60’s that I know nobody will have. What a find in Schenectady!”

“You can always find something worth buying here, especially because they have the sales for each of the colors weekly or more. You probably won't find exactly what you are looking for when you go there, but you will absolutely find something you weren't looking for that you can't find anywhere else! The staff is super friendly and everybody loves a great deal!! Enjoy sifting for gold at this gem of a thrift store located right in between Albany (Colonie) and Schenectady!”

“Metropolis is a bonafide vintage experience with pieces dating back to the early 20th century. I wore a circa 1910 wax flower crown from here for my wedding! The owner is extremely knowledgeable in fitting, styling, and fashion history which is super helpful when shopping. It’s like hunting for treasure with a professional guide. I’ve came away with hauls of 10+ items every time I shop here and always get compliments when I wear what I’ve gotten—same with my husband, brother, and father!

It seems like most of the negative reviews come from people who are afraid to chat with the owner and don’t respect the fact that the curated items are valuable and well-preserved from the last century. Vintage items aren’t made of stretchy polyester, people ?! People are so sensitive these days.”
