Dr. Luks and his staff were great! It was a pleasant experience from the time I walked in to the time we left. We were greeted politely and the receptionist was happy and polite. We waited maybe 5 minutes to be seen. Dr. Luks was great! Very down to earth. He was very personable and explained everything perfectly! My daughter, who is 19 years old, was the patient and she really liked Dr. Luks. He has a wonderful bedside manner and we felt very confident and comfortable with his diagnosis when we left. I would definitely recommend Dr. Luks!

I found Dr. Luks from a Google search. I needed a 3rd opinion about possible surgery. Howard had excellent bedside manners and explained his prognosis to me before I had any further questions for him. He is an excellent doctor and I would recommend him to anyone in his area of expertise.

Dr. Luks is the most trustworthy and skilled surgeon I have ever met with. His knowledge, experience and skills are the absolute best. He is also very personable and I learned a lot about my knees by spending some time with him. He will be my surgeon in the future if and when I need knee replacements.

I wish there was an option for no stars. Dr. Luks totally deformed my leg. He convinced me to do an osteotomy with him ( I was foolish to do it with Dr. Luks and not the surgeon at HSS), by telling me falsehoods. For one, he never informed me about the risks of the surgery (even though in our last visit, he said we had many meetings before the surgery where he told me of the risks). Mainly, that by cutting the tibia and putting a plate on it to straighten the leg and take pressure off the inside of my knee where I have arthritis, it might not come together again. That is what has happened to me and the leg has become even more bowed. As a result, I am going to have to undergo major surgery to fix what Dr. Luks did to me in surgery. He told me I could be walking without crutches in three weeks. A falsehood, and that it wouldn't be so painful. It was very painful. He told me at three months looking at the XRay that my osteotomy was "completely healed" (later he said he said it was healing, not completely healed, but this is how Dr. Luks distorts the truth). Even though I continued to tell him my leg was not right and looked more bowed than it did before surgery, Dr. Luks told me it was just "chronic inflammation" and it would resolve itself within 6-8 months. This was a mis-diagnosis and as a result, I continued to put more stress on the leg. After Dr. Luks realized the surgery was a failure and I said to him, "I went through all this for nothing?" he said, "Well, at least we straightened your gait." (He had given me one exercise to do to strengthen my hips. My gait was fine before surgery; after surgery I limped and moved around on a broken leg and mal-formed and detached shin bone. Thank you, Dr. Luks. I know you think I should've complimented you perhaps, for improving my gait when the surgery had left me maimed and in need now of "trauma" surgery to correct what Dr. Luks' surgery has done to me.Overall, I fell for Dr. Luks overly-optimistic account of how well my surgery would go. That is my fault. Dr. Luks even gave me the phone numbers of two osteotomy patients who had successful osteotomy surgeries with him, but I should have asked for the ones who did not. I would never go to Dr. Luks for anything. He's a charmer and a deceiver. The Dobbs Ferry Hospital where he does his surgery is not very nice and as one White Plains knee doctor said about Dr. Luks, "He's more ego than surgeon." Like any egoist or narcissist, when I would send Dr. Luks an email about how I didn't think the surgery went well, in his office at my next visit, he once chastised me once for writing these emails. I guess he thought I was being nasty to him by pointing out the problems I was having. Almost like his feelings were more important than my leg.Not only was the surgery botched, but Dr. Luks afterwards said he'd done 250 osteotomies and I was the first one to have a non-union, where the bone didn't reattach. I had my bones checked and they were perfectly normal so I can only deduce that Dr. Luks did not do the surgery well and now I'm in real bad shape. To top it off, Dr. Luks never said to me, "I'm sorry this happened" or just "Good luck!" Also, after the surgery, I had to wear a catheter for 35 days because I couldn't urinate and not once did Dr. Luks call me or email me (without me having emailed him first) to see how I was doing.I made a horrible mistake in choosing Dr. Luks to do this surgery and now I'm paying for it big-time. I am depressed and ruing why I chose to surgery with Dr. Luks over the highly-recommended surgeon at HSS. Dr. Luks, of course, one time before the surgery, told me how one of "the big hospitals in the city, mis-diagnosed a patient he saw and put on the right track." By demeaning the care and professionalism of one of the big city hospitals, I should've been warned and seen through Dr. Luks' act. I am wondering, did anyone else have an osteotomy with Dr. Luks th

Great process and interaction with all of the staff. Dr Luks spent time and care in discussing the issues I'm dealing with. He was compassionate and understanding in helping me cope with my issues as an athlete and his advice comes from a person who walks the walk. Highly recommended.

Dr. Luks is very thorough, with years of experience and knowledge even outside of the "standard orthopaedic surgery" which he practices. He was able to diagnose and fix a very nuanced nerve issue, which many other physicians were not able to understand. I'm grateful to have found such a talented and caring physician.

As a sports rehab provider, Dr. Luks is one of the only orthopedists I will refer patients to. He addresses health from a wholistic perspective, and takes the time to truly get invested in every person that he sees. I view my referrals as an extension of my own practice, and every single person I have sent to his office has had nothing but positive things to say. He is a great source of information, and takes immense pride in what he does as an orthopedic surgeon, but more importantly, as a healthcare provider in general.

My experience with Dr. Luks was very positive. He took the time to explain what was happening with my knee and answer all the questions I had for him. I have been to other Drs. where I felt it was rushed and left with questions unanswered.
