Once you join, you should budget in a few extra months to try to cancel your membership. First, they will only allow you to cancel in person. This is a completely arbitrary policy designed to extract money from customers. There is simply no rationale for thisEven if you cancel in person, you have to cancel 6 days prior tot the start of the next billing cycle again, totally ludicrous and arbitrary policy designed to separate customers fromTheir moneyI’ve been a customer of NYSC multiple times in my life. That is, your policy, particularly that members cannot cancel over the phone, it arbitrary and designed to delay a customer termination. People cancel memberships, services, etc. all of the time and its nearly always the case you can do it on the spot over the phone. You are way out of step with the modern world and this "policy" has only one goal: that is to separate customers from their money

This is an excellent gym. Here's why: the friendliness and professionalism of the staff; the wide variety of exercise machines serving different kinds of workouts; the cleanliness of the facility; and finally, the gym members themselves who are of all ages and extremely polite.

Update Jan 2023: There has been no hot water in this place for FOUR months. Still numerous treadmills and ellipticals broken.Water fountain was literally running non-stop for a month. Plates that break have never been replaced, causing a scramble for them during the busiest times. Multiple treadmills broken. Equipment is the downfall of this location.

Immaculate throughout. Excellent array of machines and equipment. Lots of parking and plenty of space inside. For those, such as I, who have Medicare "Advantage Plans"or "Supplements", they accept both "Renews Active" and "Silver Sneakers".

I’ve been coming to this gym for about 20 yrs and you cannot beat it for membership price: friendly staff, clean facilities, good management.

I joined this gym in January 2022 and it was smart decision on my part. Can’t say enough great things about Jeremy (the manager) and his support team in the early morning …(Jason, Madison, Anthony and Chris) are always courteous and professional.

Really friendly front desk employees. Jason gave me a tour first day I went there, very sweet and knowledgeable. Gym itself is very very clean and equipped well.

I have been a member at Nysc for over 5 years, so before they closed for the pandemic. The new management seem to have really leveled up, they're courteous and helpful. Love the sauna and how big the gym is, easy to find a spot for yourself even when it's peak time. Love my training sessions with Josh!

I have been a member of the NYSC for over 15 years and have tried many of their locations and trainers. The Hawthorne location including their trainers and equipment are the best. I have trained with Jessica since 2019 in preparation for my wedding and she has always been so supportive and encouraging and got me the results I aimed to get. Don’t wait a second more, if you’re looking for a great local gym and trainer, head over!

I have been a member at this location for over 2 years and the staff has always been welcoming and helpful. During this time, I’ve also been training with Jessica. She’s fantastic in that she pushes you as a client to be your best. She is always throwing a new exercise into the mix which always makes a session fun and keeps a client on his/her toes! If you’re looking for a trainer, give her and this location a shoutout.

Personal trainer JESSICA/JESS is extremely rude and unprofessional. Jessica and her friend kicked me off of equipment while in the middle of a set and tried to intimidate me. They were working out together and told me to go to another bench because they claimed they “needed this one” instead of simply waiting their turn or asking me how many sets I had left. This has never happened to me before but I moved because I was so shocked at how rude this was and I felt intimidated by the two of them. After I moved to the new bench that they sent me to, I was visibly upset and could see and hear them laughing and whispering about me. I’m assuming she didn’t realize that I’ve seen her before and know that she works there. Don’t work with her unless you want to be bullied during your training session. Don’t think about even joining this club unless you want to workout in a toxic environment created by trainers like her.
