Portobello offers a comfortable, warm refuge - through both its beautiful, yet cozy, well decorated premises and its friendly, welcoming hosts. Roland's culinary skills are evident in the delicious breakfasts he offers - despite my special dietary restrictions. I love Portobello; it is my home away from home.

I just spend a long weekend at the wonderful Portobello Inn. My bedroom, the Small room, was extremely comfortable with a comfortable Queen size bed, very efficient air conditioning, and a bathroom/shower with plentiful warm water. Each morning's amazing breakfast was exceptional and my hosts Roland/Steve were very accommodating, If I was ever hungry, it would have been my own fault, but each morning's breakfast got me started in fine fashion! One morning my hosts allowed my sister to enjoy the breakfast with me, even though she was not a guest. The Inn is an oasis from the busy world and while I was staying there it allowed me to finish one book, and take in all the ambiance of a richly appointed Inn. The Portobello is ideally situated so that I could easily get to Utica, Herkimer, and the wonderful Little Falls Canal Days celebration during my stay, Driving a car is a delight in the Mohawk Valley! Just an ideal place to stay full of peace, quiet, and friendly conversation. Thanks Roland and Steve!

We have been staying at Portobello Inn annually for about 15 years when we visit family in the region - because staying here we feel like family! Roland and Steve are warm and gracious hosts. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable and the house has plenty of comfortable chairs to read in, a piano, antiques and other gift items for sale, delicious breakfasts and did I say how warm and gracious the hosts are? It's conveniently located midway between Herkimer and Little Falls. There is a spacious yard to relax in out back. You'll feel welcome and at home at the Portobello Inn.

My husband and I spent our anniversary at the portobello. The beds were beautiful so comfortable the ambiance was great and they made our breakfast according to our eating habits. Great place and great owners.

This is an adorable old home, and was a very peaceful and relaxing long weekend. Roland and Steve are absolutely charming hosts - and the breakfasts were fantastic - the bacon was perfectly cooked every day.

The proprietors went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The beds were not super comfortable, but other than that we really enjoyed our stay. Would recommend it.

We highly recommend The Portobello Inn. Our stay was wonderful. Roland accommodated our late arrival. His home cooked breakfasts every morning were a special treat, we especially enjoyed Roland's muffins, they're out of this world! The house is lovely and full of interesting antiques and collectables. Our rooms were charming and comfortable. We had a treat of dining with Steve one morning also, he was a pleasure to talk to and very knowledgeable about the area.

I highly recommend this charming B&B! The warmth and hospitality extended by the owners made me feel so comfortable and at home. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully served. It worked really well for me on a work trip- fast wifi, convenient location and quiet, comfortable surroundings with the comforts of home. Thank you Roland and Father Steve for a most memorable stay!

So glad we chose to stay at the Portobello Inn Bed & Breakfast. The proprietors Roland & Steve were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious & plentiful. I have food allergies and had NO worries. The bathroom had plenty of water pressure & (amazingly hot) hot water. The room was clean & roomy. We had the Arlington (#4) Room which had a fireplace & sitting area too. The room had an A/C and had another window we could open, a TV and a alarm clock radio along with plenty of lighting and a ceiling fan. All the conveniences. Coffee & Tea was available throughout the night in the sitting area upstairs. That was a pleasant surprise. Just had a terrific experience. They sent us off with a couple bottles of water for our trip home. So sweet. Wish I had taken more pictures

For starters, the Portobello Inn is NOT the sterile surrounding you'll find at any of the cookie-cutter hotel/motel chains. If that's what you are looking for, this isn't the place. I was in the 'new' Civil War addition of the house. It was clean and comfortable, had a modern bathroom, fabulous breakfasts (the 2nd B of B&B, we were told), and a pleasant, friendly Innkeeper. Sure, it could probably use some paint here or there (as others have complained), but it was a very nice, comfortable and inexpensive place to stay. I've already made a reservation for next year.

What a great overnight stay and opportunity to meet and visit with Roland and Steven. We learned so much about the history of this area as we shared a breakfast of blueberry muffins; fresh fruit; souffle;coffee and juice; bacon (it was awesome!!). They really pay attention to every detail. If you are into antiques....you need to visit this area....we will definitely return here soon!!Gary/Susan East Rochester NY
