When the new Chinese owners (who speak NO English) took over, they had some younger staff behind the counter, who were obviously relatives and born in this country. They were friendly and helpful. The prices were also reasonable. Now all the younger staff is gone, the prices have gone up to an insane degree. A wine I usually get went from 11 to 16 a bottle recently, after they ran out and I requested that they get it back in. Obviously they thought I would continue to buy it even if they gouged me. Also their $.50 bag fee is ridiculous. I was a frequent customer for over a year... no more. No point in complaining you will just get an attitude from the Woman owner. Back to John Q in Hewlett. Much friendlier.

Bought 3 bottles of red wine, different brands, all of which I consistently buy at various stores and very satisfied with my purchases. When I noticed the prices were lower at plaza liquors hewlett, I gladly bought the three bottles. When I opened the first bottle, surprisingly the color was a more transparent pink rather than the deep burgundy I am accustomed to. Ok different vintage maybe. But no smell, no taste, no rich full body aroma. Very disappointed but could happen once in a while so proceed to open second bottle, again different brand. SHOCKED same result. Third bottle same result. What a coincidence? Different brands, same result!Only logical conclusion can be that this store sells FAKE WINE with FAKE LABELS albeit very convincing from the external appearance.I should mention that I had no problem in the past when purchasing kosher Israeli wines from the same store.Anyway I did get my money back for 2 out 3 bottles, I had poured the first one down the drain.Do yourself a favor and steer away from this store if you like to get what you pay for.Live and learn. / A.

So I don't usually leave reviews unless the place is exceptional or horrible. Unfortunately, this is the latter of the 2. At first the prices looked pretty fair and actually good in some cases. But, when you buy multiple bottles, the owner taxes each bottle seperately rather than taxing the whole order. I found this strange. The owner's son was very helpful and knowledgeable in many of the products sold. Anything you wanted, he would order for you. I miss him. He's no longer working there. The incident that made me longer a customer (a frequent one at that of 3 times a week minimum) was when I was overcharged for a bottle of whisky that I had previously purchased 2 times before. When I asked why the price increase, she told me it was that the price increased from the vendor. I found it odd but went with it. When I returned the following week, the same bottle sold to me the week before was for the lesser price I paid for previously (a $22 difference). I asked her about it and she told me to take a picture of the bottle I had. When I returned with the picture she tried to show me a bottle of a 12 year (not the same bottle) for a price even greater than what I paid for the 3rd bottle. She told me that the price i paid was a "good and cheaper price" . I told her that we are not discussing the same bottle. She got loud. At that moment I realized I was victim of a price gauge. I was "got". I just walked away and let them know they lost a great customer. I hope she enjoys her $22 made off from me more than than average $150 to $200 she used to and could have continued making from me weekly.

It's great, they have way too much stuff so it's a little hard to maneuver the isles. Some of the whiskey/high end spirits are completely overpriced.

Plaza has been my go-to liquor store in Hewlett for years. Great small liquor store that features some of the most reasonable prices in the area. Exotic Russian Vodkas as well the standard brands area here. **This store is one of the only stores that sells Ruskova vodka!**, which is, in my opinion, an oddly excellent Vodka, especially at its ridiculously low price. Check Plaza out it out even if its just for Ruskova alone. - sometimes its even worth the trip to Hewlett to grab a huge jug of Ruskova, even if the party's in Brooklyn on Manhattan. Everyone appreciates when I show up with a jug of Ruskova. But that's just my experience.... Other liquor and wine seem fully stocked with what you'd expect, as well as a lot of different, new, and unfamiliar brands. The owner has helped my family pick out the prefect wines to pair with meals. I ask a lot of questions, and they always seemed more than happy to help me understand the different types of wines and liquors they carry. So....If you have an questions, ask them! If they don't carry what your looking for, let them know and you might just see it there on your next visit. Great store, great prices, no complaints at all, so 5 well-deserved stars for Plaza

It's a liquor store...small...they didn't have any of the Malbec's that I like and usually find in other liquor stores. Owner didn't really care to help out either. Prices weren't too bad.
