Shawn, Abby and Erin are phenomenal coaches. I joined RR to work on personal strength and endurance in my day to day life. I have been a member since September and have never felt better. I chose the slogan “2023 and me” for person growth and this was a big step in the right direction. Each class is unique and I feel empowered to push myself and have fun doing it. RR is full of wonderful people there to support you through each workout. RR supports a variety of people and I feel I fit right in. I highly recommend to the beginner, the exercise pro and anyone in between.

Got to join a class while visiting the area and had an awesome experience! Shawn is a brilliant teacher and coach. He pushed us to our limits and beyond, while ensuring our form wasn't compromised. Will certainly be returning the next time I'm in Hudson.

Fantastic coaching, workouts, and community. I was visiting the area and dropped in for two workouts, and had a fantastic time. The coaches (Abby, Sean, and Peter) were very friendly but very professional, running the class very smoothly and providing helpful cues. And the programming, which they do in-house, was fun and challenging. Plus, the community among members seems unparalleled. Highly recommend for a drop-in or for long-term membership!

I dropped in with a group of 5 for two days in a row. The coaches and community could not have been more friendly and accommodating.Coaches are energetic and run the class so smoothly! Community members said hi and chatters and partnered with us! Faculty is clean, has great space, quality equipment and accessible bathrooms and showers! I would definitely come back if I am in the area again! Thanks RRCF!

I first joined Railroad Crossfit in 2012 and have been working out there regularly ever since. The quality of the training and the care and attention paid to each individual means I've been able to train multiple times a week without injury for the past 11 years. As important as that is, what really keeps me coming back week after week is the supportive and positive community that Shawn and his staff have built. That's a quality I hadn't experienced before in a gym and I'm grateful for it every time I walk through the door.

Railroad CrossFit is a truly inspired space-- not just a gym, but a real community. I joined in 2022, feeling out of shape & out of touch with my body after the pandemic. I've worked out off & on throughout my life, but weight-lifting & CrossFit were completely foreign concepts to me. The founder & all of the coaches are the most incredible people in supporting you to grow while meeting you where you're at in your journey. After 2 years of being so sedentary, I was REALLY intimidated to start CrossFit-- yet Shawn, Abby & Peter cheered me along the whole way, not to mention give incredibly detailed, thorough coaching that has allowed me to learn so much! Now, a year later, I'm feeling stronger, healthier and super grateful to be a part of the RRCF family.

I dropped in from Boston with a large group and RRCF far exceeded my expectations. Not only were they extremely accommodating to such a large group, the coaching was top-notch and the class flowed extraordinarily well! Abby, Peter and Shawn are excellent coaches and should be very proud of the welcoming community they have built. I’ll definitely drop-in again next time I’m in the area.

I often laugh to myself about the years I spent not coming to this amazing gym that is basically in my back yard. "I don't do CrossFit," is what I told myself. Why didn't I do CrossFit? I'd had some friends who got into it years ago, and it seemed like they were obsessed with flipping tires and walking on their hands. And I'd watched a few documentaries, and it looked way too intense. I exercised regularly, went to the Planet Fitness down the street. Things were fine. But then two things happened. First, I herniated a disc in my neck. I was in pain for months, and my right tricep atrophied to the point that it completely disappeared. I feared I would need surgery. Then, my wife started coming to Railroad — first for personal training sessions, and then for classes. I couldn't believe it. After years of trying to get her to do squats and deadlifts, all of a sudden she was obsessed with lifting weights and doing exercises I was very jealous of. So, I started coming to Railroad for physical therapy. I had been in a more gentle therapy setting for the initial healing stages, but it was time to rebuild my tricep and address the structural strength issues that had led to my herniated disc. Working with a coach there, I was able to get some strength back and avoid surgery. And after that, I decided to start coming to classes on a regular basis. That was almost a year ago. I've been coming 3-4 days a week regularly ever since. The classes are amazing for a number of reasons. First, I no longer need to think about how I handle my fitness. The programming here is incredibly thorough and varied. All of my strength and fitness needs are being addressed. I've made gains like I never thought possible, and am in the least physical pain I've been in in my adult life. Second, I get way more done in one hour than I ever would on my own. You get in, work hard, and get out, all within one hour. On my own at Planet Fitness or any other gym, I never pushed myself like I do at Railroad. Third, there is a great community here. Both my wife and I work from home. It's nice to start your day with a bunch of friendly faces, many of whom I've developed friendships with.I swear that the way we work at this gym is the key to living a long and healthy life. Lifting weights, challenging yourself, getting sweaty, and having fun. I did not think that CrossFit was for me. Now I can't imagine life without it.

The team of coaches at Railroad are awesome. I started two years ago at age 47 after several years of not being very physically active or pursuing fitness generally. Since joining I have put on more than ten pounds of muscle, gained in strength and mobility and drastically increased my overall fitness levels. At my most recent primary care physician appointment, my doctor of many years was astonished at the transformation and was completely supportive. The Railroad team have worked with me in the last two years to up my game in terms of skill, provided constant coaching to improve my form and are always there to provide words of encouragement. I was nervous to start CrossFit at my age, but it has turned out to be one of best decisions I have ever made in my life.

I started CrossFit at 60 years old. Since gym classes at school I never exercised until I came to Railroad CrossFit. The coaches are very dedicated to what they are doing and working out is fun. I never thought that I would like the exercising but I can’t imagine not doing it now. And if anyone has doubts about starting exercising, it’s never too late or too early, as long as you are doing it.

Great gym and supportive atmosphere. I attend with my two high school age children. The shared "suffering" has been a great topic of conversation during dinner...I mean recovery meals.

I walked in the doors of Railroad CrossFit 4 years ago at age 61. I had lower back pain and injured Achilles tendons that prevented me from running any more. I didn't know the difference between a dumbbell and a barbell, had never heard of a burpee or a push j**** had never rowed or done squats. I couldn't imagine how I'd fit in.From that first day, the amazing coaches made me feel welcome, cared about and supported, and patiently showed me the ropes (literally and figuratively). I found I was able to do workouts side by side with strong young people in their twenties because although everyone does the same workout in a class, the coaches make individual adjustments so that every movement suits the strength and fitness of each person. Today my back feels great and my Achilles tendons have healed. I can deadlift 240 lbs, am told I do burpees "like nobody's business" and my skinny arms have developed impressive biceps (who knew you could grow muscles in your 60s?!).I have taken classes in several other CrossFits when traveling in the US and overseas, and there's no place like Railroad. The coaching team is passionate about their mission to improve the health, fitness and well-being of every member; it is never just a job for them. Shawn, the owner, creates programming with meticulous care, and the result is workouts that are always fun, interesting and challenging, and also always focused on longevity, which I really appreciate because I want to be able to continue CrossFitting for a long time.I could keep going, talking about the friendly, supportive culture instilled by the coaches; the thorough warmup, training and stretching/cooldown that is designed to enhance each workout; the attention to proper nutrition, sleep, hydration and mindset as additional elements of fitness; the coaches' wonderful senses of humor......In short, going to Railroad Crossfit was one of the best decisions I ever made. It enriches my life beyond measure. I walk out of that door with a smile on my face every day.

Since my work is pretty physical I’ve always tried to make a priority of working out so I don’t injure myself.Last summer I really dropped the ball and was pretty inconsistent. I really felt it, I was exhausted by a day of work when I felt I should just be moderately tired. I felt that I was not looking after myself well; after all what’s the point of saving that time or money each month if I eventually injure my body and can’t work?So I joined crossfit! The motivation, friendly competition, friendships, advice, and consistent, fun workouts have made literally a huge difference. There is a notable improvement in my endurance at work not to mention it’s just a blast! That hour at crossfit is simultaneously the hardest and most fun in my day.I look forward to continuing to build strength as well as meaningful connections here!
