You don't need to belong to a coop to buy at this store (though if you belong, you get a discount). There are three branches of Green Star in Ithaca; this branch is Whole-Foods-size, with a large assortment of health-food-store choices.

So I'm a "member" who spends about a zillion bucks a minute at this store ... You would think they'd want to sell some of their ready-made items to people looking to stop off for a snack or a light meal ... But when you sit down at any of the provided tables; you're instantly assaulted with a full-blast AC fan cranked to the highest setting ... And this comment is based on multiple attempts, and when it's totally freezing outside ... On one recent visit I thought to review the print-out for my purchases, only to have it waft off the table the second I placed it there ... I looked around and noticed that the other people trying to eat there were all bundled up to the gills, watching each fork or spoon very carefully to avoid incurring dry cleaning bills for their sleeves or cuffs ... One has to wonder what is going on here, since it's clearly a vast detriment to sales ... If this is intended as an anti-Covid measure; wouldn't it be possible to blast warmer air if it has to be at full force like that?? ... Seems weird to me!

This place is really, really, really overhyped. Like, really. It feels like one of those yuppie places where rich people who want to pretend to be eco-friendly, organic, and feeeeel like "hippies" shop. Where is Whole Foods (pre-Amazon purchase) when you need it??? This is not the one. I walked through the fresh fruits and veggies. They were all overripe and absurdly overpriced. Quick illustrative story: at Trader Joe's, a 12oz container of perfectly ripe (and some underripe) fresh figs is $4.00. At GreenStar, they had saggy/overripe figs in a sliiiightly smaller contain for $7.99. And this was just one tiny comparison. What is happening. Who is paying for this? How do they stay in business? Insanity. I imagine these are rich people shopping here because it sounds cute to say...it's not a true co-op that's focused on getting food into your neighbor's hands and working together. No, thank you.

I rely on greenstar for my vitamins and supplements. The quality is very good and the discounts make it a better value

I couldn't believe this co-op! It's tucked away, but it does not disappoint. I went in looking for something quick and couldn't believe how many vegan options there were. Will DEFINITELY be going back for a quick dinner or lunch!

Today instead of going to wegmans for our picnic subs I opted for Green Star. It was a always a destination for me in its old location any time I traveled from Binghamton to Ithaca for a fun day. The two subs I got were absolutely top level. Fresh made batard and freshly sliced meats. These subs were so delicious. Thank you !

This place is unsafe for vegans. I was attacked in the parking lot and no one called 911 to help me. Green Fail!

This health food co-op in Ithaca, NY, is a vegan's paradise. It's easy to find healthy and delicious vegan food, to prepare at home or wherever you were going, or buy premade meals to eat there in the attractive café area. There is a very nice children's space in the café, entirely furnished with Community Playthings, which are made on Bruderhof communes in upstate New York. Customer service is excellent; every time I'm in there I feel my business is appreciated and earned. YES: vegan friendly YES: kid friendly

What are hidden treat this place was! We decided to go in when staying a couple miles down the road. We had no idea what we were in the store for. As a vegetarian we were extremely happy with the choices. We got a pie that was totally vegan and Seiten. Not often do you see these kind of options in stores. Yeah the place is a little expensive. Don't get me wrong. That being said, there are so many options that it's worth supporting a place like this. I would love to go back to try just about everything in the store. I wouldn't make it my main grocery store, but it is nice for a couple items that you won't be able to get anywhere else or a nice treat.

Greenstar quality and stock on shelves has in the l ast year declined very significantly. We used to shop there every week, and travel 40 minutes there and back, the food and quality was that good. Now however the stock quality and quantity has declined so much we come away with only have or less of what we went for, and end up going to Wegmans to get what was missing or of such poor quality we could not buy it. Staff levels have also declined and its just not the business it once was.Alas on this trajectory we will not be returning, which is such a loss. What have you done to this once great business?

Wonderful co-op. Big selection, clean place, and nice people. Wish we had a co-op like this where we live!
