Wonderful museum. Some art is not for children, but we are all adults here. (Really though, watch what your kids are looking at.)

As I understand it, much controversy ensued before this structure was erected. The name is unfortunate since it bears a resemblance, as some view it, to a large chair or throne. It does have a curious way of framing the landscape. (Photo: Cornell University)

Wonderful views of Cayuga Lake, Ithaca and Cornell from the 5th floor. We started on the top floor to see the views. We wanted to take the elevator down one level at a time to look at the art on display. Unfortunately, the elevator wouldn't stop at any other floor except all the way back on the ground level. Cornell University's Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art in Ithaca, NY, houses 40,000 works of art in a historic I.M. Pei building. Explore the permanent collection and regular temporary exhibitions, with spectacular views of Cayuga Lake, Ithaca, and Cornell. Closed July 4, Thanksgiving Day, and from December 25 to January 1 (other dates to be announced).
