They have 9 spots to park. I waited about 20 minutes till someone left to use the parking lot. University neighborhood is not visitors friendly

Really beautiful small museum. The light show on the roof of the deck is awesome, though I'm not sure what time of year to visit so they're open to view it after dark (which I think was the artist's intent).
Wonderful collection all around, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

The museum on the Cornell campus holds quite an amazing collection in an interesting, modern building. The top floor, which houses a fine Asian art collection, offers stunning views over the campus, the city of Ithaca, and surrounding countryside. The European art on the first 2 floors ranged from modern to ancient, with a striking gallery wall of 19th century paintings.
The basement 2 floors hold temporary and educational exhibits. I saw a well curated exhibition on art from the period of Spanish colonialism which was surprisingly extensive and varied.
Admission was free and parking was free on the weekend. (I believe it is also free during the week but you must have a permit validated inside the museum.)
After you visit, you can drive to the gardens or arboretum, or, even better, get some amazing Cornell ice cream at the nearby Dairy Bar.

Great little art museum on Cornell's campus, super for a rainy day excursion if you are in Ithaca.

Wish I had more time exploring museum’s collections, but I was within 20 mins of closing time. Grateful to the stuff they still let me in. I have rushed to 5th floor to check out Cornell’s surroundings from wraparound galleries, gorgeous views of the lake and campus. The floor has beautiful collection of Asian art. Note that suspension bridge path over Horseshoe Falls starts almost next to museum. Hence, that’s where I headed after the museum. Review would have been 5 stars if museum closing times were at 5pm.

Limited parking, paid parking week days free weekends. The Johnson is a medium sized museum with a broad permanent collection as well as temporary exhibits. Plan an hour or two to take in the art. Perhaps the best feature of the museum is the 360 degree view from the 5th floor. It is spectacular in all seasons. We take out of town visitors here to wow them with views of the lake, downtown, Collegetown and the campus. Admission is free.

Wonderful museum. Has many different art pieces from different eras, locations, and made out of different mediums. Free to see, but must pay to park. It takes about 2 hours to look, but if you read everything, obviously longer.
There is an elevator to take you to different levels. Several employees standing around prepared to help.

Perfectly decent (though not huge by any means) and engaging museum with some unique art and artifacts worth exploring. Hit or miss rotating exhibits, often with real gems. Worth the trip even for the unique architecture of the building, and some of the best views of Ithaca and Cayuga Lake available (from the upper floors) Free to the public.

Very cool museum. Perfect to spend 2-3 hours wandering into a wide range of global collection, mostly donated by alums. What’s more special is a spectacular panorama view of Cornell campus and surrounding, even the BB lake/creek if you go around the museum. The second floor has an outdoor lounge area where you can enjoy fantastic view, a breeze and a light project overhead which I think is one of the best spots on campus.

This museum is a great place to visit on the Cornell campus. There are not any options for parking at the museum, so it's best to take an Uber here. The museum is also free, so it's a cheap way to spend a free day.
The upper level of the museum is where you start. There is a big window with the best views of the Ithaca town valley as well as good views of Cornell. The top floor is mostly dedicated to Asian art. My favorite pieces in this part of the museum are the samurai outfit and the black hole sculpture.
The next level down they have Ancient artwork, with lots of classic European art pieces and the first ever tombstone.
On the lower levels, the art pieces change more frequently. They have a piece that shows the layout of Cornells campus as a 3d model from a Birdseye view.
There's also a 2nd building that's part of the art museum, but I didn't explore that area. You could definitely spend an hour at this museum.
