This is a clean, well maintained facility. The Hilker's are a pleasure to do business with. If I needed a storage unit inn the Ithaca area, this is the first place I would go to.

We rented a small unit from ideal self storage last year, and just finished our rental made. I have been very pleased with the folks from this company. They have been excellent communicators throughout the process and I was pleasantly surprised to see my security deposit return so probably after we completed our rental. I recommend them highly.

I was robbed of over 2000 dollars worth of stuff here and they never returned my phone inquiries about if there was video footage or not. No follow up of any kind.

I needed a storage unit on short notice and Ideal Self Storage worked perfectly for me! I just had to drive to the kiosk, fill out my information, and was able to start moving things in immediately. Moving out was a very easy process and they got my deposit back to me in only a couple days. Great service!

This is the best storage facility I've ever used. The owners are extremely nice and helpful, the units are clean (no mildew smell, like some have), and everything is well-maintained. I'd give them 6 stars if I could.

Ideal storage went above and beyond in helping my family and me move to Ithaca, I was thoroughly impressed with their facilities which are clean and bright but above all the excellent customer service was A++.We will definitely use them again!

I really liked this storage unit! I just needed a temporary storage unit and setting it up was super easy - I did it all from home, online! And the unit was ready for use the next day. Ms. Sharon is also very nice and patient. I did accidentally forget to pay immediately when the new month rolled around, and she patiently reminded me for a week straight (yeah I was super busy and kept forgetting - but not the point!). I highly recommend!!

We had a smooth experience renting a storage locker from Ideal on Slaterville Road in Ithaca. I rented the smallest locker for 3 months so my kids could stash some stuff between semesters as they were moving to different apartments. I was able to complete the transactions entirely online, and when we reached the locker, our brand new padlock (bring a scissors to open the packaging) was waiting for us. I emailed the company to ask if we were supposed to return the padlock when done and got a reply saying it was ours to keep. I emailed two or three other times during our 3-month rental and always got prompt replies. After we cleared out the locker, my $50 deposit was promptly credited to the same credit card I'd used at the outset. This is a family-owned company, not a huge corporation or private-equity-owned operation, if you care about that. I suspect that made a difference in the customer service I received.

The other stellar reviews are true. The I-Deal folks are a joy to work with, and renting a unit is convenient and smooth. However, be aware of the weather and the capabilities of your moving vehicle. Their Ithaca location may be difficult to leave with an unloaded moving truck if there is significant unplowed snow on the ground, and there is no good way to get momentum to leave the driveway onto 79.
